It's too bad, but I have to knock one of my favorite restaurants down 1/2 a star.

Diane and I had a nice reserved table for two overlooking the Colorado River, and enjoyed the Lobster Mania Special: 1/2 a Canadian Lobster with Drawn Butter and Filet Mignon with Bearnaise Sauce.  Lavosh in the complimentary bread basket was very good, the breadsticks great, and a Sourdough Roll excellent.  Onion Soup Gratinee, too, was excellent as usual, with a well-deconstructed crouton and gooey cheese.  New England Clam Chowder had nice pieces of bacon floating on top.
And, a House Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing and Bleu Cheese crumbles, mixed greens, Radicchio, a Grape Tomato, Red Onion, and an Artichoke Heart was quite yummy.

An Intermezzo palate cleanser of Lemon Lime Sorbet was refreshing.  And, the Canadian Lobster served with fine Mashed Redskin Potatoes and Bok Choy was just excellent and creamy.

So what was there not to like?  I had to ask for numerous Iced Tea and butter refills, and my Filet was more medium than medium rare as ordered.

A slice of Chocolate Lava Cake with Powdered Sugar, Chocolate Dust, and a large scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream was scrumptious.  Service by our assistant waiter was just not as attentive, and the Filet not as well prepared, as in the recent past.

    XXXX-1/2 on this particular night!

The Gourmet Room is the best restaurant in Laughlin by far and you can't beat the view with floor to ceiling windows looking out at the river.  The service was excellent also.  We went to the Riverside to get our favorite shrimp cocktail in the snack bar for $3.50, then from 5-7 every day the Gourmet Room bar has happy hour with piano music.  Mixed drinks and wine $3 and full size martinis for $3.75. After HH, we ate Dinner at the Gourmet Room.  I had the Les Coquille St. Jacque with big chunks of lobster, shrimp and scallops.  It was OMG good and they give you lots of food.  I think it was around $38 but well worth it.  It was served with soup or salad and veggies.  I had the clam chowder which was very good.  Boyfriend had some veal dish with lobster on top and loved it.  I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Laughlin. I can't believe I waited so long to go there after all the times I stayed at the Riverside hotel.

We went here for a family Christmas dinner. Many of our family still live in laughlin. The food here has gone downhill everytime I have been here. It has now become a no return. It's old and tired. The whole place needs a revamp and a new chef. Same as last time, the food was all cold. The steak was chewy and tough. The only things I can still recommend are Caesar salad, Spinach salad and Coffee Diablo. AAnd shrimp cocktail was excellent. They are prepared tableside by the waiters and are still really good. Other than that don't bother. Go next door to the Outback for a better and less expensive dinner.

We expected five-star service when we entered the restaurant because when we went to the Riverview Restaurant downstairs, and asked for a Blue Moon and a dirty martini they told us if we wanted fancy cocktails - we needed to go upstairs to the Gourmet Room --LOL.

Gourmet Room here's how I think you can improve service:
    1. When guests have no reservation, please act graciously and don't make guests feel like an inconvenience.
    2.  When you are out of a particular type of alcohol, food item, etc. please make your servers aware of it.
    3.  When the server is confused about who had what, don't make the customer feel as if you have brought the wrong thing then not offer to fix it.
    4.  When the customer asks for  a bottle of wine to come with the meal and forgets to tell you what she wants, don't forget to ask her.
    5.  When you bring the bottle of wine, ask the person who selected it to taste it - don't automatically defer to the oldest male who you know knows nothing about wine and proceed to pour all glasses before he tells you if he's okay with the selection.
    6.  Place the plates so that the meat dish faces the customer.
    7.  Make sure water glasses are always filled.
    8.  Explain the dessert plate don't just plop it in front of us.
    9.  Read the situation, waiter.  If hot and heavy conversation is going on -- don't impose yourself.
    10.  Offer a dessert drink -- don't make the customer ask about it.
    11.  Get the steak right. If you are going to charge over $30 for a steak dinner, try seasoning it a little better and getting something out that's not so dry.
    12.  When a customer orders a dish with shellfish, bring an extra plate out for the shells.
    13.  The menu could use a freshen up. The items on there could be called classic French dishes but all those dishes with the heavy cream sauces are a little outdated in my opinion.
Overall - staff was friendly but not well-trained.  If you want to charge the prices you're charging,  please step it up! I would not recommend this place.

We loved the Riverside seating with beautiful panoramic views, and the fun breads served with 2 types of butter was a plus.

White linen and great service exemplified the experience from all the other restaurants in Laughlin. We went for hors' devours. We shared the shrimp cocktail, cheese plate and a few glasses of wine. A quick meal got us out of there by 7 and onto the blackjack tables, which were by far my favorite dealers in Laughlin.

Highly recommend you check out the Gourmet room; they do take reservations!!

The Riverside Resort is indeed a 3 star resort/hotel at best, but the Gourmet Room is worth all 5 stars and more! I have been a returning hotel guest for over a decade, visiting a few times a year for different vacations. Only in the last 3 years, have I had the extreme pleasure of patronizing this superb establishment during my visits. I really had been missing out all those previous years! I don't think I can do a better job in writing an eloquent, well thought review as Dennis did, in November 2011. Please, read his review for the most accurate account of this fine dining restaurant.

As for my own dining experiences, the restaurant is in a class of it's own. A rare find in the town of Laughlin, commonly known as "the poor man's Vegas". The Gourmet Room whisks you away from the gambling town's inundation of casino noise, heavy smoke and crowds. The restaurant takes you back to an earlier era of exquisitely dressed staff in black tie wear, a live piano player, ornate damask wallpaper, intricate crown moldings, dimly lit glass chandeliers over elegant place settings, on crisp white linen and candlelit tables, all while enjoying an uninhibited view of the Colorado river and impeccable 5 star dining. It is a pleasurable overload for all human senses.

I should preface that I am a vegetarian, and the Gourmet Room is a french cuisine restaurant. This translates to a very meat based menu, with few options on paper for my diet. However, with the chef's willingness to create a customized entree, I enjoy a fantastic dinner without feeling at all deprived.

On my last April 2012 visit, I began my evening with an order of the cheese plate appetizer. It was a welcomed introduction, which I thoroughly enjoyed with a glass of fine chardonnay. The perfect accompaniment to the scrumptious variety of fresh bread choices brought to the table. The chefs are skilled in producing delicious meals for those of us that do not eat meat. I believe I am a small percentage of diners with a vegetarian diet at this establishment. The standardized menu reflects as such. However, my attentive waiter (whom I am embarrassed I can not recall his name), reassured me that the chef could create a wonderful meal for my dietary restrictions. I had an incredible linguine dish in a flavorful but light cream sauce tossed with fresh and delicious petite veggies. It was unlike anything I had experienced, a perfect balance of taste and flavor.

The Bananas Foster dessert cooked table-side is a sight to relish, and can't describe how phenomenon this dish tastes. I highly recommend you try it for yourself, it won't disappoint! But, do not take my word for it, please go experience the Gourmet Room to appreciate all this restaurant has to offer!

As a footnote, If you are visiting Laughlin and did not pack "dressy" clothing, do not be overly concerned. I enjoy dressing to the "nines", as appropriate for this fine dining occasion. But, you may choose a more casual dress if desired or lacking more formal clothes. You will not be the only party dressed as such ;-)

Was checking on Yelp for a restaurant recommendation and chanced on glowing reviews for The Gourmet Room at the Riverside hotel.

Reservations were not accepted, but we were quickly accomodated for a late dinner (8:30pm) even if the restaurant was supposedly closing at 9pm on a Sunday night.

The ambience screams old world service, with the room dimly lit to highlight the sparkling waters of the Colorado River. Water taxis tangoed to and fro as they ferried passengers from one side of the river to the other.

Our meal started with a selection of  hot breads that temporarily satisfied our hunger pangs. The menu itself is a collection of traditional dishes with an occasional surpise thrown in ... escargot, elk and sweetbreads for example. And since I rarely see these items on a regular restaurant menu, I just had to try the escargot (3 stars, just ok) and sweetbreads (5 stars! Lightly fried and smothered in sauce on a bed of spinach).  The Duck L'Orange was rich and creamy (3.5 stars here), again prepared in a very traditional way. Servings are hefty, bring your appetite.

Sadly, we did not have room for dessert. But if ever in Laughlin again, I would certainly want to visit again!

We went here for Valentine's Day. Got reservations three weeks in advance for the 6:30 seating. Great quality food--we both chose the special they offered at $37.99.
Beautiful view of the river through floor-to-ceiling glass. Wonderful live piano. Service was a bit slow and not as personal as I would have liked it when compared to a cruise ship. Guess we are spoiled!
Might return sometime, although we have heard the steakhouse at the Edgewater is comparable with food quality and price. I know the view and piano can't be best, though!

The absolute best meal in Laughlin. I go to Laughlin annually for a conference and this is my must for the trip.

Went here on a recommendation and boy did we love it.  The views.  Can I saw more?  Ok, the VIEWS!!!  They have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river.  We went at 6:30 p.m. and had lovely views, table right on the window.

The servers and host were so accommodating.  Wow - I had good service all weeked in Laughlin, but they outdid themselves.  The bartender was great as well.

They have Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm daily (I believe) with great prices for martinis, beer and mixed drinks.  $3.50 for the martinis.  Wow!  We also had an escargot app at the bar - yummy!!!

After being seated, they have an early bird dining special through 6:30 p.m. - though I don't think it is everyday of the week.  For under $20 you had a nice selection of many entrees, including filet and several fish dishes (I had the rainbow trout stuffed with crab meat - yummy).  The salad was included and was grea.

This restaurant is in Don Laughlin Riverside Casino on the 2nd floor.  There is also an adjacent Prime Rib room, same type of views, but when I looked into it it looked a bit hectic.  If you want fine dining and a more relaxed/sedate atmosphere, this is the place.  Really the highlight of our 3 nights in Laughlin.

This place was quite a surprise for us.  We had no idea what we were in for, after all this is not Las Vegas.  The food and service were excellent!  We had a lovely table along the all glass window.  We enjoyed watching the water taxis go back and forth throughout the evening.  We started off with the french onion soup and warm spinach salad prepared table side.  For our main courses I  had the Elk Chop and my bf had the Filet Mignon and Lobster.  Both cooked to perfection.  We enjoyed this place so much that we are changing our return plans back to CA just so we can go through Laughlin again just so we can dine again at the Gourmet Room.

So for Laughlin this gets 4 stars.  If this was in LA maybe 3.  This restaurant was a bit of a surprise.  It's located on the 2nd floor of the Riverside.  All glass overlooking the river.  The food was great.  And service was excellent.  We paid $100 for two with a drink and dessert.  I had the halibut which was excellent and my boyfriend had the prawns.  This is considered a more upscale restuarant but you can go in shorts and t-shirt,  Also, they have a nice bar if you just want to go and get a drink.
