Had been here before for dinner a few years ago and it was good so Brought out of town guest here. Very disappointing. The service was slow and he had no personality at all. First the draft beer we ordered was not working right. Then one of us ordered the Tuna, (after sitting there 40 mins waiting to order) and the waiter informs us they are out of it. Why were we not informed of this the whole time we sat there? Â The young water boy literally walked by and through us a plate of bread on his way to somewhere. The bread practically went flying into the lap of one of us. When we finally got our food one of us had ordered prawns and scallops. They were not prawns but 3 large shrimp that were burnt. I ordered Gnocchi's which were good but the chicken in the in the order was chewy and old tasting. Very disappointing for 20 dollar plates. Will not be going back here again.
Review Source:Amazingly inspired menu!
* Pizzetta of roasted lamb, gorgonzola, asiago, carmelized onions, candied walnuts, and port balsamic reduction.
* Beets Two Ways: Roasted red beets layered with herb goat cheese mousse, peppered greens, rustic croutons. Truffled red and gold beet timbale, roasted pistachios.
My girlfriend and I were just there for lunch today. Â Although we had to wait quite a few minutes for someone to seat us, however......
We had an AWESOME server. Â Peg was absolutely down to earth from the time she introduced herself to the end. Â She was spot on with her food and alcohol recommendations. Â I loved the viognet (spelling??) wine she suggested and my girlfriend loved the port wine she recommended. Â She was prompt and very attentive. Â We are very happy to have had her serve us, as the servers did not look too happy to be there. Â Service was awesome and the food was awesome too! Â We didn't even realize that we were there for two hours plus....that's how much fun we had.
We will definitely be back, as this is our new favorite.
Got food poisoning right after dinner, couldn't wait for dessert. We gave our credit card to pay...the management was very rude about it. I did not ask for a comp, didn't even bring up money and they kept asking for us to close the bill. I was puking in the bathroom and they actually told my boyfriend were not comp-ing her meal so you need to decide what you're going to do. Â Unnecessary rudeness. Not to mention the service was slow. Will not be going back
Review Source:Plus: Dessert
Decent: food, service
Minus: Ambiance feels like fancy restaurant, but it is too expensive for type of food offered.
Mom and I went for lunch. She had a fig salad that was a lot of the mixed salad greens everyone serves today, also a lot of mozzarella balls cut in half, a decent amount of pecans, and maybe one fig cut in fourths. I felt the dressing was too sweet and my mom thought there was too much. She said it was OK. I had a smoked turkey panini sandwich. It was as described, but not very exciting. I was hoping for slices of in-house smoked turkey, but it seemed more like really thin sliced lunch meat. It was good.
The service was on the slow side. Not too attentive, but not really bad.
The thing that gives this review four stars is the dessert. We shared a pear apple crisp and it was divine. It was served warm, the fruit and caramel sauce were great.
We went to dinner last night. Four of us seated "in the bar area". Â I believe we were seated in this area to accommodate the bar tender who was also our waiter. Â Everyone else had nice tables with linen tablecloths except us. Â We sat at an old, scratched-up table for four. There was a "dirty" window to look out of so we could see a 'speck' of the river. Â The food was delicious...a bit pricey, but very good. Â I blame myself also. We should have checked around and probably sat outside with the entertainment and beautiful weather. Â Advice: Â Check out different seating before picking a table. Â Back room has nice tables and windows as I recall.
Review Source:Just a solid 3. Some of the dishes are killer some are whatever. Some are cooked perfectly some are over cooked. Go with a big party and there's something for everyone. Problem is only 60% of the items will be well received by all. Atmosphere is nice, outside patio is great in the warm weather, service is hit and miss. My friends steak was cooked to death but on the other hand the server noticed it and insisted on refiring the dish. Downside to this was we all had our food for a good 10 minutes before his dish came back out and was cooked to the proper temp. Graffiti can be hit and miss but I'll give it another go as there are some things I do like on the menu and the servers will make up for a poor food experience which I find honorable.
Review Source:Came here on a Friday before the dinner crowd hit so we were seated quickly. Ambiance and location are great along the river, decor matched the food. Being that we were full of beer from a trip to Russian River brewery, we were looking to just get some tapas.
Graffiti Cheese Plate: Grilled Herb Flatbread (chewy), Dried Fruit Chutney (very good), Black Figs (good), Greek Olives (good), Caperberries (awesome), Dried Dates, Red Grapes and Truffle Honey (Amazingly good) Served with Three Cheese Selections (All 3 cheeses were very good)
White Gulf Shrimp Spring Rolls: Served over Sunflower Sprout and Carrot
Salad with Nuoc Cham Dipping Sauce and Sriracha Chili Aioli (Average)
Duck Confit Flatbread: Port Soaked Cherries, Roasted Fennel and Marinated Figs
with Fresh Mozzarella and Asiago Cheeses over Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Topped with Baby Greens (This was a very good flatbread: succulent duck, beautifully soaked cherries, and crisp flatbread)
To see Graffiti on a wall is a public crime, some people call it art
or use it to make a statement, but sitting in a awesome location
near the river around downtown Petaluma and across the rivers
lies an artsy place with amazing food, awesome service...
People have to occasionally treat themselves to a fancy pants dinner.
"Graffiti" was mine.
This is what I had,
The Duck Confit , with figs and awesome cheeses  Fresh Mozzarella and Asiago  Cheeses over Extra Virgin Olive Oil and  Baby Greens.
The flat bread Pizzas are to Die for, nice as delicious.
They have a variety of pizzas are tapas and different cocktails.
I had of course a "single-malt-scotch" a "Highland park"
Which was rich and amazing with my tapas with a Graffiti Cheese Course
with Grilled Herb Flatbread, Dried Fruit Chutney and 3 cheese selections.
Hats off to all place with a wonderful wine selection.
I have to go back for the Desserts!
P.s. - this place is across the Apple box and is fairly easy to not find.
I can see it's a lively place, me and the family enjoyed it
best to make reservations! (707) 765-4567 ohhh and they
     have a banquet room!
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday after the restaurant we planned to go to was closed. I've been here a few times and it never quite knocks it out of the park service-wise.
As has been the case in the past, we had to wait for someone to seat us for a couple minutes. Then as we're being seated, our waitress comes over and asks us what we'd like to drink and we tell her we need a minute. Our server was nice enough, but it took about 10 minutes for her to come back to take our drink orders.
Once we ordered appetizers (the flatbread with asiago cheese, and a couple rounds of oysters - both very delicious and definitely affordable apps) and our drinks (I ordered the Sangria which was one of the better Sangrias I've had) we waited quite a long time (maybe 15-20 min) to receive them and to also place our entree orders.
The entrées were phenomenal! My boyfriend had the mahi-mahi over mushroom raviolis and I had the rib-eye over mashed potatoes, with a creamy mushroom sauce and steamed vegetables (although, I never understand why restaurants serve steamed veggies, they are almost always bland). Both of our dishes were practically licked clean.
Our server never came to check on us to see if our food was good or if we wanted to order more drinks and we ended up waiting about another 15 minutes after we'd finished before anyone came over.
Because it was my birthday, we decided to get dessert and went with the flour-less chocolate terrine with summer berries. Abfab, loved it.
Getting tired of the waiting game once again, my boyfriend got up to look for our server, who was no where to be found so he told another server we were ready for our check. I do have to note that it appeared there were only two servers working that night, and although the restaurant was pretty slow--maybe they were just very busy.
When she finally brought the check over, our waitress wasn't as friendly as before and I get the feeling that maybe she was annoyed that we got up to ask for the check.
So A+ for food/drinks and C- for service, which was friendly but extremely slow and inattentive. We spent about 2 hours total at the restaurant with about an hour and fifteen minutes of that time waiting for our waitress.
The food was not good. The prices are high. The menu is old fashioned. The service started out good and then dropped off all together (no water refill, took 20 min to get the check paid). The food was so bland... The sauce on the filet tasted like it came from a reheated pouch. The filet was tough. The crab cakes were dry and only tasted spicy. The cippolina onions that appeared on all three of our dishes were flavorless. Really not impressed. The patio and view are nice and the flatbread app was good. Â Returned the soup because it tasted like water. Â I can't remember ever returning food because it was just bland. Â Very strange experience.
Review Source:We stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon. We choose the Tapas and were served promptly, portions were nice. Â Cocktails were great and wine was too..
Our server was a bit odd,(Cocky), Felt like we were shoved into a small wall seat in an empty room..Will ask for a better seat next time.
Over all I would go back and order more Tapas, and one more Cosmo..Yum!
Our pice tab was not bad but we hesitated to tip the way we normally do, so we just gave the basic Percentage.. Sorry! My tip for anyone going there would be to act more casualy than normal.. Our manners were lost on this guy!
Amazing food and terrific service!
My husband, 12yr old, and I arrived around 5:30 Saturday night. We really wanted to sit on the patio and they seated us quickly, but warned us it might be chilly.
We had some wine, rootbeer, and beer with our truffle oil and flatbread (omg amazing) and started to get seriously cold.
They quickly moved us to cozy booth.
We had crab cakes, seared ahi tuna, prime rib and the warm goat cheese plate. All were amazing.
Then moved on to the strawberry cheesecake and pear crisp ala mode. Absolutely fantastic!
We all agreed (which never happens) that this was one of the best meals we've had in quite a while.
Barf. Â I wish I could give negative stars. Â Where do I start?
The menu is terrible, the food is overpriced and NOT good. Â The service is marginal.
We have been there on a "live" music night. Â It was awful. With all of the great live music available in Sonoma county, I cannot believe the choice of music they had.
Frankly, with the venue, this place should be packed. Â Downtown Petaluma on the river is an amazing place.
Won't spend my money on this joint. Â Too many awesome places to go to.
The best part of this place is the service. Â They are so accomodating. Â The wait staff, the hostess, everyone really, were so nice and very professional. Â It is the reason I give it 4 stars.
The food, while priced ok, was so so. Â I had the chicken pizzette and my wife had the linguini and clams. Â My pizzette was too oily, but it tasted pretty good. Â A lot of clams on my wife's plate....but again....the taste was just ok.
The location of this place and the outdoor seating provided ( the inside is also quite nice) could make this a real monster of a restaurant. Â They just have to get the food to the next step.
GREAT views and GREAT food!
We went here for Mother's Day and the food was fantastic and views are great as we had a window seat (too cold to sit outside) and had views of the river!
HIghly recommend their drink specials for a glass of wine with your meal! The pasta Clam Linguine was fantastic! :) Would definitely go here again!
We really wanted to like Graffiti. 4 stars on Open Table, nice setting on the water, views to the foothills. I guess this is a case of "looks 10, dance 3." Multiple friends told us to cancel and recommended spots nearby with better food and service. We should have listened. The first servers were attentive and quick with our drinks and tapas. The second set forgot us, and someone lost our order. After 20 minutes, the new waiter admitted it and asked "what did you order again?" We paid and left. I spoke to the mgr about it, telling him we'd been told to cancel because of service and food. All he did was nod, sort of apologize and ask who our server was. He had a golden moment to comp the meal or a portion or invite us back for a better experience. Nothing. Needless to say, we're now part of the "go somewhere else crowd."
Reading other yelpers, I've gotta say I wish I'd come to you first. The avocado tuna tartare was nice, and the 3 soup flight was tasty. And yes, the guy who bussed the table was consistent.
(4.5 stars actually). Â I'm very surprised to see that some people have had such bad experiences here, as on both occasions I've dined here I had a wonderful time. Â I found the food delicious, and really appreciated the great variety. Â They offer "tapas" (small plates), so between the three of us we ordered four to share, which worked out really well. Â Our favorite was the crab cakes.
It's a perfect restaurant for a date, very classy (not a place for kids) and fairly low volume (though in the bar attached to the restaurant there is live music on weekend nights which is quite loud). Â It's really just a great atmosphere-actually on our last visit a gentleman at the table next to ours proposed to his girlfriend.
I'd recommend saving room for the desserts, particularly the flourless chocolate cake.
My girlfriend and I moved from The City up to Petaluma a few months ago and this place has quickly become one of our regular spots. We usually eat at the bar and have had the same bartender serve us every time. He is friendly and attentive. The owners are always there and seem to like to socialize with patrons. They also have these cool trivia cards at the bar which helps pass the time when one waits for food.
As for the food....I have gotten the Burger practically every time and it has been amazing. I definitely recommend this place if you are out and about downtown Petaluma.
I came here on a week night for drinks with a friend. Â It was pretty dead inside but it's very fancy and cute. Â I'd imagine it's busier on a weekend?
It took a while to get seated because they weren't really paying attention. Â Based on the reviews below, maybe they weren't expecting anyone to walk in? Well anyway, once we were seated the service was attentive and fast. Â And even though we stayed so late that we were the last ones there, they didn't throw us out so that made the evening end really nicely. Â I'd consider possibly coming here for an actual meal at some point.
Went here with a friend who recently bought a farm in Petaluma. I was two days into an eight day NorCal culinary tour and this was just another stop committed to high standards of flavor and quality ingredients.
First off (I always feel like such a jerk when I forget names!) our waiter was awesome. He was tallish with dark hair and was working on a Sunday night (if that helps management). He was attentive and helpful and so obviously passionate about the food that I give him credit for a full star at least. It's waiters like him that remind me what a difference service makes in the dining experience- and what a fun job it can be for someone who loves food.
I'm on a mushroom kick so I started with the mushroom ravioli. It was a perfect appetizer size to be paired with my Alaskan cod that I followed with. The sauce with the ravioli was divine and the filling was soft and warm without losing the texture of the mushrooms.
My mom started with the soup flight. The chipotle beef was the higlight  for me there but the tomato was good too. Nothing special in the chicken soup but if I'd been sick and added a couple drops of tabasco and that would be a different story.
Our friend got a warm spinach salad that I tried and liked and I can't remember her entree but it was meat and the sauce was DELICIOUS.
My entree was the Alaskan cod and to be honest it's half the reason I took a star off. It was just a tiny bit dry for me and it's served pretty much as a nicoise salad but I guess I didn't understand that when I ordered because I was looking for something a bit more savory. That being said our server recommended an excellent pinot to go with it and the wine was so good I barely noticed.
The point is- lovely food and low lit but elegant atmosphere and one of the best service experiences I've had in a long time. We had to resist going back the next night and if I weren't a junky for variety we would have.
I must admit that my first night at this place was not forgettable in a bad way. But a lovely chat with the general manager smoothed over ruffled feathers very quickly. In fact, I ended up going back twice in one weekend. This restaurant is now hands down my favorite restaurant and I go frequently.
My favorite meal is the prime rib (available Th-Sat). OH! THE PRIME RIB! It's an orgasm for your taste buds. The outside is seasoned and a bit crispy, and the inside is so tender and juicy that it melts like butter in your mouth. It's a good sized prime rib and it comes with horseradish sauce, mashed potatoes that are heavenly, and seasonal veggies.
But that's not the best part of the meal. The best part is when you've ordered the baked brie, and the waiter sets it down in front of you and you get to see the port wine reduction with red onions, red/yellow bell peppers, basil, and this round, perfectly baked brie sitting on top. I've had it every time I've gone, and each time I ask for a straw so I can suck up the sauce (in jest of course!). I'd probably rub the sauce all over myself if it wasn't completely improper!
Well done, Graffiti!
My boyfriend and I have taken to coming here on sunday early-evenings after we get off of our 7 hour shifts down in Novato. Usually we'll go for a bottle of wine or a coupe of martini's, accompanied by an appetizer or 2. The steamed clams are a favorite, as is their tuna tartare.
Drew the bartender is awesome!
Reason for 4 vs. 5 stars? Drinks could be a tad cheaper, but that's not really fair of me. Also, I think I'd have a better idea of what I really want to rank Graffiti after I try more of their ACTUAL menu. :-)
Dear Graffitti:
Thanks for ruining my date night with my boyfriend. If someone is allergic to dairy, please take them seriously. Your sarcasm and joking manner about having to call the hospital because he cannot have milk are really not appreciated and definitely not funny. When someone asks you to check with the chef prior to cooking their meal, how about you actually check with the chef? Its not appealing to paying customers to have to pay $100 for a meal which is not appetizing and that they are allergic to because you're too lazy to walk the 10 foot walk to the chef and ask a simple question. Not only did you ruin my date night but you also pissed off a potential regular  customer. Please get it together. You suck.
Thanks to you I didn't get a happy ending to my date night.
Sincerely,
Angry, Horny Girlfriend
I wish there was a 5+ rating.
*Correction on my previous review: The waiter's name is Arsenio, not Serenesio or whatever fanciful name I invented in my silly brain for my original review. And he deserves an award for being The Best Waiter Ever. Seriously, he is funny, sweet, has great recommendations, and is super entertaining. As if the restaurant wasn't good enough, my friends and I want to come back just to see him! The food wins our esteem, Arsenio wins our loyalty. Grafitti is now officially my favorite restaurant, superseding Burma Superstar, Canteen, Sol Food, and, even, dare I say it, Le Colonial! AWESOME!
Some more recommendations of things to try here:
Cheese Plate = Epic. All the cheeses and respective accouterments (dates, figs, nuts, olives, pears, grapes) were damn good. Except I hate Gorgonzola (my fault, not the restaurants) and I think the flavor/scent of the truffle honey bears a remarkable resemblance to Gasoline.
Fillet Mignon Medalion: Perfect. The sauce made me want to lick the plate.
Avocado Tuna Tartare: Has some sort of bomb balsamic/maple? reduction sauce on top. The tuna and the avocado taste very fresh. It is served with unique, very thin wafers that really allow the flavor of the dish to blossom on your taste buds.
Bread Pudding = WINNING. It has magnificent creme anglaise sauce, and is the perfect balance between its crispy crunchy top and soft and gooey (but not too gooey) bottom.
As for cocktails, both my friend and I LOVED her Blue Flamingo (Think Blueberry Lemon Drop type thing, very sweet!) and my Mojito (VERY powerful lime/mint combination, tastes like extremely strong limeade, cannot taste the alcohol its so good - just the way I like it!)
I'm disappointed in the other poor reviews. I come here for business every week and make sure to come back for the great service and the amazing tapas. I have never had bad service or bad food.
The scallops are my absolute favorite...perfectly cooked and the sauce is the best ive ever had. You can never go wrong with the soups. Last But not least, key lime martini. Best. Ever.
This is a difficult review for me to write because I want to like Graffiti more than I do. In fact if I wrote a review for the Bar and Appetizers, I would give Graffiti 4 stars. In addition to an Above Average wine list, their West-side Cosmo is outstanding! There are several Appetizers that we find interesting and tasty including the Cheese Course, Brie Melt, Crab Cakes and Chicken Satay. Their soups are outstanding with the Chef creating 3 soups daily; you might consider sampling all three with their soup flight offering.
The ambiance is nice both inside in the upscale dining areas and outside in the laid back patio along the Petaluma River. The wait staff are a mixed bag, my guess is that they are not well trained (or interviewed) because some are really outstanding and some are inappropriate for a restaurant that aspires to be upscale.
We generally run into trouble selecting a main dish. To be sure, their dishes are inventive and unique, something we find refreshing! However, the execution is not always equal to the promise of the dish. The result: instead of an eclectic menu, we consider it weird. To be fair, as Graffiti has aged, the menu has been revised, keeping the good and replacing the bad and we keep returning for the cocktails and yet we always find something to eat!
Some winners from the menu worth sampling: Baked Alaskan Cod is an outstanding balance of flavors, Red Curry and Coconut Stir-Fry is a surprising blend of ingredients that works, Szechuan Ahi Tuna is everything you expect even if it is stacked food.
I try this place once every 6 months or so, hoping that they've figured things out, but am always disappointed. Food is absurdly overpriced for the quality. They try a half dozen cuisines and don't get any of them right.
I walk by every evening on my way to the gym, and as of late the only people I see here are business-parties, guidos trying to impress their guidette dates, and people too old to taste the food they're eating. The bar is good, and the only thing keeping this place afloat.
My fiance and I went there for the first and last time. To start my terrible night off I wanted to sit outside but it was a little chilly and the guy said the outdoor heaters didn't work. Such a nice and upscale place, how can the outdoor heaters not work? So we sat inside which is beautiful but a very awkard atmosphere. Then they denied me a glass of champagne because I didn't have my ID on me. I'm 25 and I'm in a restaurant wanting a glass to drink with my food! But whatever, I guess that's my part for leaving my purse.
Anyway, we got the fried calamari for our appetizer. It was expensive and very small, but good. For the main dish I ordered the rack of lambs, also for the first time and now probably my last time as well. Thanks a lot for that Graffiti! It was so bland it tasted like I was eating it right off the lamb, gross! I asked for a differest type of sauce and they brought me apple chutney which was chunks of spiced apples and not a sauce at all! So I then asked for more of a sauce type of sauce and they brought me gravy! My last attempt to make my expensive plate taste good I then asked for A1, yes A1! And guess what, the waiter came back stating they don't carry A1. Wow. No wonder the rib-eye steak my fiance got had gravy all over it. It was like a breakfast steak you get at I-Hop but double the price and not as good!
We spent $75 and that was with the savings card. The waiter was nice but he could've just gave me the champagne. All in all, don't wast your time, your appetite, and your money!!!
I will never ever EVER return here! On my birthday, my two girlfriends and I were treated like dirt for using the Sonoma Card to give us a buy-one, get-one free deal so I could eat for free for my birthday. This was our first time at the restaurant and the staff were drinking on the job and so rude! The manager showed up in his dirty gardening clothes! They didn't even give us bread and as we were leaving, we noticed all the other tables had bread! On top of this, I found they charged my credit card MORE than the amount I owed & signed for!!!!!!!!! This is complete fraud. I called Chase and got the charges removed! Here is proof from Chase:

Two words: Truffle. Honey.
I came here for an intimate dinner while staying up in wine country and it did not disappoint. We started off with the coconut prawns which were scrumptious and well cooked, and the cheese platter with, you guessed it, truffle infused honey. Wow, was that stuff good. The dish also came with other fruits and nuts to cleanse your palliate in between bites of cheese; I liked that they thought about that. I have to say that I was thrown a bit off guard when our server did not explain the cheese selections (which were chef's choice) upon setting the plate down, and even after I prompted him did not even get them correct. I would agree with previous posters about a slight lack of service. Although complaints about price should not phase SF diners.
For my entree I had the duck prepared two ways with a potato gratin. The gratin included sweet potatoes and was warm creamy goodness. While the duck was also very good, both pieces were dressed with the same sauce and I couldn't tell a real difference in the different preparations. My date's fillet mignon was fabulous and we ended the evening with the creme brulee. I also had a glass of the Deco port  with our dessert which was infused with chocolate and might be my new favorite after dinner drink from now on.
As an designer, I love going to places where I can appreciate the thought that went into the detailing of the interior finishes and recognize materials that I love to use as well. They really did a good job with the look and feel of the dinning room (I never made it to the bar area). We sat in an elevated "booth" off to one side giving us the seclusion we desired but also afforded us a good view around the room. I'm glad we happened upon this place before we left Petaluma.
I've been here twice now and have since sent my parents a gift certificate (mainly so they'll go somewhere besides Apple Bee's and have an overall wonderful dining experience)!
The service was courteous and friendly and the food (everyone's food, not just what I ordered) was flavorful and delicious - as in we were still talking about it a couple days later!
They have a great wine list and a good selection on their menu...try this place on a sunny day and sit outside by the water, doesn't get much better than that!
Bullet points:
* Amazingly poor management
* Extremely poor execution
* Line cooks out of control!
* One star for food that sounds so good on the menu
After reading a mix of good and bad reviews, we decided to finally try Graffiti, for lunch on a Sunday. Â We like tapas and small plates a lot, so we sampled a bunch...
Great decor and ambience, even with two nearby birthday party groups.
Great service - pleasant and friendly.
Food... Â Well, what can I say that hasn't been said? Â Some of it was good, some marginal, and some bad.
Fresh oysters - delicious.
Trio of soups was a great idea - I love soup and always want to try them all. Â The artichoke soup needed quite a bit of salt, but all three were quite nice.
Beet Kim Chee - superb! Â Sunomono-style pickled cucumber, and two kinds of beets, one pickled mild, and one spicy. Yum!
Calamari Tuscan - undercooked, and a pale, nearly white color. Â As a result, they got greasy as they cooled.
Shrimp spring rolls - undercooked, but promising.
Coconut prawns - overcooked, but tasty. Â The sauce on the plate was nice. Â
Seared Ahi - total disaster. Â Absolutely the worst example we've ever seen. Â The pieces looked cut from the end of a fillet, with a tough fat layer through them. Â It was hard to cut with a fork, and seared tuna should nearly fall apart.
Our server talked to the manager and he took it off our bill.
Boneheaded, amateur mistakes. Â Absolutely horrid mistakes for a restaurant that has aspirations of greatness. Â
Even if the kitchen or person on fry station is clueless or inattentive, the servers should be able to recognize when a fried dish is not cooked enough. Â
Insufficient staff training, and not enough oversight...
I can't recommend it. Â We spent over $75 on lunch for two - no wine - and left unsatisfied. Â Fortunately, our expectations were low.
Graffiti could be great with a little attention and management, and we really need this kind of restaurant in Petaluma.
Graffiti - are you listening?
Usually I give 4 stars at a place that I have a good time, food, service, drinks at. But something in me just can't go 4 for this place. I definitely agree with the identity crisis reviews. City prices, city menu, city decor, smack in the middle of Petaluma with the cow/chicken coop aroma drifting down the river. We got to listen to the jazz band next door without them being too loud.
Of course the first thing I have to talk about is the beer.... They brew a pretty fantastic pilsner. But of course it wouldn't be Graffiti if this pilsner didn't have an identity crisis. It's unfiltered (screams HEFEWEIZEN), it's very citrusy (screams HEFEWEIZEN), and it...... tastes NOTHING LIKE A PILSNER. I did love it still. I don't discriminate.
Second thing worth mentioning... two hairs. Two separate things, but two long dark hairs. Needless to say that last piece of calamari never got eaten.
Mojitos are made with a syrup and real mint. ???? Um... I HATE fake mojitos and LOVE real ones. What do I do here?? It's fake with real muddled mint in it? Why is their syrup then? You can't toss some sugar in to make it taste fresh and real? WHY MUST EVERYTHING BE CONFUSING HERE?
We had lots of tapas/appetizers/whateveryouwanttocallthem. Calamari tasted like what I imagine a fancy place on the baja coast would serve. Spicy breading, no lemons, and served with a black bean and corn salsa. Potato things were good and also kinda spicy. Coconut skewers only have 4. Crab cakes were 2 small ones on a plate. These are the portions that give tapas a bad name. Also it was a work happy hour so people were eating slow and chatting and the servers kept taking plates away when there was still food. We ended up ordering more calamari even though the last plate was only half eaten cause the servers took it so fast.
Milfs everywhere. In the bathroom a lady was talking to her kid on the phone and telling him/her/it how much she loved them and to be nice to the babysitter and that "mommy misses you and wishes she could be there". A half second after hanging up she turned to her friend and said... "Time for SHOTS!!!!" hahahahaha
Oh- since I'm an SFer I typically don't complain about this but everyone in Petaluma was super freaked out about it... You have to park an entire BLOCK away in a FREE garage. OMG! ONE block... that's really far... and it's... what?? wait... NO!??!?!?... Umm... Really??!?! It's........ FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE?!??!?! What kind of parking garage is FREE!!?!?!? MAKE SOME IN SF!!! PUHLEEEEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!
