It's really about the local bar crowd.  The patio bar is open as well when weather permits.  The food is OK but  overpriced.  It's never my first place to go for lunch or dinner.  Not the kind of place I would recommend travelers exiting the highway for as it has become more of a local hangout at the dinner hour and after.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. I like it. Nice ambiance and they have a great happy hour.  My co-workers and I snacked on a couple of appetizers, and the calamari was yummy!  I'll have to stop back in and try dinner and maybe update my review.

A friend of mine mentioned that this restaurant is really good.  I arrived right after happy hour and still got a good deal on red wines.  House wines at the time were $5.50.  With the wine I got the special of the day.  Cedar plank Salmon with mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables.  The food was hot, fresh and delicious.
The server was very patient and knowledgeable.  I felt bad that she had to come back 3 times since I was indecisive on what I wanted for dinner.  She was efficient and quick to refill my water.
I would definately come back here and try something else.
The restaurant is clean and has great atmosphere.  There is also outdoor seating if you want to dine out.

This place is a perfect example of knowing your audience.

You don't have to have actually great food so long as your ambiance is right and makes people feel like they think they should.

I went here with my roommate a while back and was not that impressed.

It was just another Midwestern upper-middle class pub that was full of obnoxious people and overpriced food.

Sure, that's a pretty harsh statement but I'll stand by it.

I might have tolerated the crowd if the food was good, but I'm sorry to say it wasn't.

It wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't the price they were charging.

For your money, I highly recommend you stay in the city and leave this place to the suburban set.

Grandview's friendly staff served me up a hearty dinner of pan seared chicken marinated in a white wine with lemon. The chicken coating was crisp and delicious, reminding me of the way Chinese sweet & sour chicken is prepared (sans the sauce.) As a side, a creamy mushroom risotto was a perfect compliment to the meat.

Fabulous food comes with a price, which is why you'll find higher costs on Grandview's menu. Expect to pay $12.00 for a gourmet salad or $25.00 for an entree like my chicken. The food is worth it, but it's definitely a special occasion / impress your clients restaurant.

    Price per person: $20.00

This place was definitely over-priced for what we got.  We came because we had a coupon, and it was still a rip off.  Outside patio looked like a fun place to be, but it was packed.  We sat in the dining room, which was very nice, quiet, and "romantic".  The food was a little more than OK, and not worth the price.  The service was very slow also.

OK- the pizza is really good and the wine is good and the staff is great and the ambience is nice (but get rid of the TVS PLEASE).  When I retired and they wanted to do my luncheon-  I picked this because all the places iI normally eat were out of the price range for co-workers or didn't ope til 5  or were too fat from northern Ky,  My friend liked it and my hubby really liked it - and they do a charity for Shriners- and my son spent 45 days in a Shriner hospital- so good service, nice ambience, good food I'll be back

Grandview is pretty good.  It is a bit pricey especially if you add drinks.  It is convenient, and the atomosphere is very nice.  We have eaten there a number of times and the food ranges from very good to mediocre.

Good location, good ambiance, and nice bar.  I don't mind spending money, especially on a great dinner and good wine, but I do mind spending money on a sub par dinner.  We started with the Ahi Tuna crusted in sesame seeds.  The tuna was really good and most of the accompaniments were also, except the raw red onion slices, wow way overpowering.  The Viogner wine was great, which the server didn't know about, and had the manager answer questions about it.  That was nice that they were willing to take time out of their busy night to answer questions about wine.  I had Pan Seared Halibut, with green beans and lemon-basil risotto, and was priced at $32.  The halibut, which was questionable that it was halibut, was seasoned good and tasted good, but was so overcooked I could hardly cut it.  The "risotto" was definitely not risotto, it was very dried out rice at best.  Not only was it not cooked correctly, but it was not priced correctly either, that seems really pricey for restaurant located in a strip mall that focuses most of their attention on bar patrons.  My husband had the Lamb Chopped with mashed potatoes and baby carrots.  The chops were cooked good, but there was some type of sauce all over the plate, that had the most overpowering smokey smell and taste, it seemed like Liquid Smoke.  Which why would you use liquid smoke in a nice restaurant, especially on lamb chops that cost $36!  The red mashed potatoes were old and gummy, I think they had been sitting for a while.  The carrots were on the verge of being raw, if they had been cooked at all would be a surprise to me.  They were so though, that you could barely cut thru them with a steak knife.  For dessert we had "locally sourced" cupcakes, a trio of mini cupcakes, they were OK for a Kroger's bakery counter, but not an upscale restaurant.  We decided that since the bar area seemed to be happening, we would stay for a few drinks.  There was a band playing, which was nice, the servers were very nice and helpful.  The bar scene was terrible.  I thought I had been transported to a scene from The Real Housewives of lets say Northern Kentucky.  Woo, cougar town definitely, not my forte, but I guess it is nice for the over 50's to have a place to let loose.  I certainly will not be back.  My suggestion is if you are going to serve food at this standard, then you should lower the price to meet your cooking.

Living in Northern Kentucky, and wanting to have a great date night meal on this side of the river, can sometimes be difficult. Luckily I scored a Living Social deal for Grandview, where I had been once for drinks on the large patio. I wasn't sure what to expect inside the restaurant, on a night that produced the first snowflakes of the season.

The restaurant is large - I didn't realize how large - but the low, warm lighting, and quiet acoustic live music made it feel cozy. I loved the atmosphere.....very romantic for a date night, but the bar also seemed busy and lively for a night with friends. I especially enjoyed how well done the music was. I feel like a lot of restaurants think having live music is trendy, so they cram a band into a small corner, drown out the patrons, and make having a pleasant evening difficult. This was not that way at all. The space was not inhibited by the musicians, and their level was just right. We had an easy conversation over top of it, but were also able to recognize songs we liked, etc.

I had a glass of the house Pinot Noir (hey, it was cheap!) and it was actually quite good, especially on such a cold night. We had the seared ahi tuna appetizer with a broccoli wasabi slaw. It was not the BEST seared ahi tuna I've ever had, but it was darn good. I wished I could have gotten an entire dish of the broccoli wasabi slaw :)

My fiancee had the black bean burger. He is not a vegetarian, or a fan of eating healthy, so this really surprised me. He said it just looked good....and good it was! Cooked just to his liking and topped with house made pico de gallo and some kind of southwest sauce....very good. I got the Sicilian pizza, which was also delicious. There was a delicious sausage on top, and the pizza was not overly greasy - it was really good, and enough for lunch leftovers today!

We discovered that Grandview has great happy hour specials...we were just too late to take advantage of them. They have theme nights (like 1/2 price pizza night, mexican night, etc), where they give special deals on certain menu items. Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food - we will be back!

Large patio that even though it faces a parking lot has good ambiance; only downside is the smoking outdoors. Inside is quite dark, but comfortable. Our server was wonderful, really helpful and pleasant. When we couldn't decide on beers, she brought us small tasting samples. And then when I had a question about the lobster bisque, actually brought us a small sample of that too!

The food is just all a bit overdone: everything covered in sauce or other superfluous garnish. The lobster bisque is lovely and super creamy, but the shrimp and grits was disappointingly drowned in a tomato broth. The crab cake is nice, but so hidden underneath corn chips and other stuff that it almost gets lost.

Simplify, knock a few dollars off a slightly overpriced menu and you've got a winner. If nothing else, a good place to enjoy drinks and appetizers outside in nice weather.

My advice is don't head there on a Sat. pm. I have visited in the warmer months and eaten both inside and out on the somewhat spacious patio, but in the winter months, there is no place to wait inside and literally no room at the bar without being in the way of servers and breathing down on already seated diners.

We asked for a table for two and the hostess asked for a phone number? I don't know if they ran out of pagers or if this is the norm, but I'm still waiting on a table for Sat. Feb. 19. Never received the call. We had a couple of drinks and headed to Montgomery Inn in Ft. Mitchell instead.

I think the place has actually expanded recently, but is still way too crowded.

We had Mediterranean & Carne Asada Pizza.  On Wednesdays they have half price pizza which is a great deal.  The pizzas were really good.  We will go back for sure.

The atmosphere and the service was really good.

Christiaan really enjoyed the Lobster bisque too.

Great happy hour specials, good bar food (I have yet to have meal here, just appetizers), and a nice large patio area. The pub chips are delicious and plentiful enough to make two passes around our table of 10. The best appetizer we had was the goat cheese - 4 toasted pieces of baguette with a glob of delicious goat cheese, along with a spinach and mushroom salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious!

However, our service was extremely sloppy. Not only did a waitress drop 2 glasses of water on someone in our group (which splashed over to another table, too) but not 10 minutes later ANOTHER glass of water was dropped and broke on our table, wetting two other guests in our party! Also, they only gave 8 out of the 10 of us water until another waiter realized some of us were missing waters. Just plain weird.

The area is also a downside. If you enjoy looking out to I-71/75, this is a great place! But... I'd rather not enjoy happy hour right off of an expressway.

My Meal here last December blew me away.  I was dying to come back here to have that same meal.  Imagine my disappointment when the menu changed.  Dang.  The day before.

I ended up ordering the bruschetta.  It was OK.  The bread should have been toasted or grilled. I guess someone forgot to tell the chef that.  I also ordered the Italian meat and cheese tray.  Really lame.  For one thing, cheddar is NOT an Italian cheese.  And either is Munster.  So that was really a bummer.

So I have to say.  They need an Italian Chef if they are going to sway their new menu in that direction.  I might give them another try.  But then again. They also go rid of the most fantastic bread too.  So maybe not.

Decent food (3.5 stars) but I'm docking you 1.5 stars for not having any fat-free or light salad dressings on the menu.  According to your waitstaff, "It's just not part of our philosophy".  Go screw your philosophy.

If you're ever in the greater Cincinnati area, on the Kentucky side of the river in Fort Mitchell, you have to try the Grandview Tavern & Grille. Managed by Matthew Haws, the Grandview has recently acquired Executive Chef, Mike Nelsen. All I can say is, "Good job!" Mike has revamped the menu and brought new life and new flavors to the establishment.

On this particular evening I was there for dinner with some good friends. When we looked at the menu we saw the selections of salads, entrees, and desserts were creative and would satisfy the most discriminating palette.

    The Food
I started with the Salmon Salad although the Warm Goat Cheese Salad did catch my eye also. The Salmon Salad included peaches, candied pecans, tomato, gorgonzola cheese, and Italian vinaigrette. The blend of flavors was very well balanced. Personally, I would have preferred a little more salmon but the melody of taste would have been unbalanced. Overall, a very good salad that I would recommend. Other salads to choose from are: Caesar, Nicoise, Cobb, and Black & Bleu.

Dinner entrees at the Grandview Tavern range from Tavern Meatloaf to Pasta Diavolo and for fish lovers from Pistachio Crusted Tilapia to Shrimp and Scallop Scampi. I had the Pasta Diavolo. It consisted of blackened shrimp and steamed mussels in a spicy tomato sauce over roasted red pepper papardelle pasta with spinach, and served with a parmesan toast point. At this point, I was slightly surprised. The dish was not as flavorful as I had expected. I expected the blackened shrimp to add a spicy "bite" to the dish. Instead it was all rather bland. Whereas with the salad I could taste the various ingredients, this pasta dish had no variety.

"What about the grille," you may ask? For those of you craving meat from the grille, Grandview offers the standard fare: Ribeye, New York Strip, and Filet Mignon.

    The Atmosphere
If you visit the Web site you will see that the interior of the Grandview is warm and inviting. The ambient lighting is just right. Believe me, I have been in some establishments where it seems the light is turned low because they do not want you to see what you're eating.

During warmer seasons the Grandview sports a patio that they open to patrons. Recently refurbished, the patio is spacious and relatively quiet allowing you to enjoy the company you're dining with.

    Overall
In spite of some of my disappointments, I would still recommend the Grandview. With the many menu items you are bound to find a favorite that will keep you coming back for more. For those of you who like trying something new, the menu offers the variety you will crave. The pricing is about what you'd expect -- salads around $11, entrees around $25, and grille items around $28. The service is friendly and timely and Matthew Haws will listen to your thoughts and comments regarding any of the dishes. With the new management and Chef, I feel the Grandview can only get better and better.

    Enjoy!
