H & P Cafe

Not impressed.  We happened to drive by here about 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday and decided to stop for lunch.  There was only one server for the entire cafe, which we were told is normal.  This was no problem until more customers came in and then the service slowed tremendously.  My mom ordered a Reuben sandwich with roasted red pepper and tomato bisque.  Unfortunately, the corned beef in her sandwich was very tough and the bread wasn't true rye bread.  Instead, caraway seeds were stuck to greasy white bread.  She said that at least the soup was good.  I ordered a Patty Melt sandwich with potato chips (I was hoping for potato salad but didn't have that option).  I had the same complaint regarding the bread.  Lastly, the cafe's interior decor is in need of a redo.  Would we eat here again?  Nope!

Further visits have confirmed that this is a great place to eat.  Don't be put off by the plain country-cafe interior.  The place does not sell alcohol but you can buy some wine at the winery across the street (or BYO) and bring it in.
