There is not many restaurant options in Vail, so we decided to try this place out finally.  Wasn't too busy, we could tell there were alot of regulars coming in for dinner.  Kids meals are all 6.99, so if they get a hot dog or grilled cheese you aren't really getting a good deal, but with chicken strips or a hamburger the price is reasonable.  Kids meals also include a scoop of ice cream afterwards.  Drinks are reasonably priced.  My husband and I both ordered chicken chimichangas, the chicken was a little dry and I don't think we would order them again.  Will definitely eat there again and try other things on the menu though.

EDIT: I put in this review some WEEKS after  the wedding event so as not to be identified as a guest of any particular wedding. The wedding I attended was nice, but nice due to the bride's family, they are what made it a happy occasion, not the venue.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Went there for a wedding and reception and I am so sorry I wore high heels. The lobby area is uneven flagstone and I hobbled in like a drunk. How embarrassing. To add insult to injury, I noticed the wedding patio area was empty, and since I left my invitation in the car (and didn't want to hobble back) I asked the sweet receptionist, and before she could explain, the manager snarled that people were meeting for drinks in at the bar. Nice.

At the bar, I had a nice but rushed bartender make an absolutely vile sangria, and pour my husband a warm flat draft, plopping the drinks down with no cocktail napkin. The TV to the left was so old it had green stripes running through it. Nice.

The ceremony was on the lawn,  over which you must teeter on more flagstone to reach, one of which was loose.  The chairs were placed flush to each other with no space in-between. Thankfully I like my husband and it's wasn't too warm out there because it could be very uncomfortable sitting crushed up next to a stranger in hot weather. Sexy. Not.

After the ceremony we all teetered back across the wiggly tippy flagstone to the covered dining area to be greeted with cocktails in plastic cups. Why bother with linens on the table when you serve drinks in plastic? Hmm? Is it an Arizona thing?
In the meantime the manager was running around with a scowl, being very abrupt with anyone who would ask her anything. I steered clear. She had a black cloud hanging over her head! For what the family paid for this reception (six grand for 100 people for just the venue and liquor/food) the manager could have been calm and at least professionally pleasant.

The staff was very nice, and very efficient, and they were helpful. I felt bad for them. I too would be embarrassed delivering trays of wine in plastic lemonade cups. Wine in plastic. OMG. Not even plastic stemware, could they have bothered? I could get over the mushy oversoaked bruschetta, the cocktails in plastic, the beer in party cups (yes the ones you use at football parties) but wine in a plastic cup?  For shame.

After a beautiful but bland and dry dinner of overcooked chicken and grisly tri tip, stale rolls and unsalted, underspiced sides it was time for the cake. After the initial cutting, the manager pushed through the group, snarled that they would serve the cake and proceeded to hack into it and cut birthday-sized pieces with all the skill of a twelve year old who had been nipping on spiked punch. I am SO glad the bride and her mother didn't see the damage she did to that expensive beautiful cake!  For the sizes she cut, had six more people shown up, they would have run out of cake. Six. That's called cutting it WAY too close. She should be ashamed.

It wasn't MY wedding, but I hope the manager's boss hears about that horrible old bat. They are lucky I wasn't the one paying the tab. There would be hell to pay.

That said, I am giving it two stars for cleanliness, nice staff and speed of service, and because the after-cake coffee was served in mugs not styrofoam.  I have no desire to go back, and will never recommend this venue.

Here for breakfast on a weekend, great service. We get to sit wherever we want and I always like the back corner room with the best view of the golf course and pond.  Their prices went up so it's not as great of a deal anymore.  My favorite here is the chicken tortilla soup, it's consistently great.  Since their prices have gone up on the kid's meals and breakfast, we have been returning way less often.  It would be so wonderful if they had happy hour for food.

I love going here on Monday nights when Military and Club members get 25% off (everything but alcohol). Probably one of the better golf course restaurants I have come across. Pretty boring - but every single time I go I get their tequila lime shrimp with a salad. The shrimp are a good size for being in the middle of the desert! It comes with a choice of potato and the veggie of the day. The past two times I've been there it has been grilled asparagus. Yum! Their lime vinaigrette dressing is also absolutely delicious. My only suggestion on this meal would be to serve it with some garlic bread for the sauce the shrimp comes in. The service isn't always the best, but the prices are decent, the food is good and its close to home, can't really ask for more than that!

We have tried pizza for take out, and dining in for breakfast and dinner. The prices are decent, the food good and the view beautiful. The French toast was good, although the Sonora scramble was a little disappointing as it wasn't as flavorful as expected. Overall, definitely worth a try.

I really loved this place!  It is located on a beautiful golf course and the atmosphere is stunning.  The food is moderately prices and pretty good, but the service was great!  Our server was kind and willing to do whatever was needed.  Overall, a really great experience and I will def go back!

Hacienda Del Lago is right up the road from my house so it's my go to place when I don't feel like driving to town.  The menu has a little bit of everything although I tend to go straight for the hot wings.  You can also score a really decent bottle of wine for around $13.  The views there are great and they have special menus for holidays.

The setting of this restaurant is overlooking a beautiful golf course with terrific views of the Rincon and Catalina Mountains.  The restaurant, itself, is in a very impressive, beautiful building, and offers lovely outdoor seating and access to the Pro shop across the hall.  Very nice ambiance, however upon entering the building, there is a noticeably offensive odor from the bathroom/shower rooms which are immediately inside the front door.  A short walk down the lobby brings you to the restaurant.  Although there is a reception desk, it was unmanned on the morning we decided to go for breakfast so we had a little wait until a server came to tell us we could sit where we wanted.  Looking around, we noticed at least 3 other tables in our area which were already used by other customers and which had not been bussed....nor did they get bussed during the whole time we were there.  Our waiter was friendly enough and took our order within a reasonable time frame.  We found the food decent but not the best breakfast we had ever had.  Both of us ordered our egg breakfasts with their potato cake (which as it turns out, appears to have been made from leftover mashed potatoes from a previous menu).  We didn't much care for them and the flavor was barely passable.  I ordered coffee, and it was brought to me in a tacky Styrofoam cup (ones which they use to send coffee out with the golfers).  The metal cream dispenser which the waiter brought to the table looked as though it hadn't been washed since Day 1...smears of cream and fingerprints on the outside of it.  Our breakfasts came in a reasonable time.  When we went to use the salt and pepper, we found that neither were on our table.  We noticed a pair of shakers on the stand behind our table and had to get up to get them, only to find that both shakers looked like someone had licked the tops and salt and pepper was stuck in half the holes and the shakers were pretty dirty.  We didn't use them.  The price for the meal was in the vicinity of what we have payed at other restaurants.  While we were eating, we noticed the cook come out of the kitchen (as there were few customers) and sit for much of time we were there, with a local couple and jaw...and yet used tables remained dirty!  In conclusion, the restaurant ambiance and views were great, the service not bad but lacking, cleanliness of the restaurant very poor, food mediocre.  Probably won't go back.

Ooh how I love the food here!!! I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.. even take out!
    The ambiance is pleasant!
The problem? The service is horrible! Many times there has been only 1 or 2 tables besides ours, along with a couple servers and you cannot get any attention from the server unless they are taking your order or serving your food (which also takes forever!).
As much as I love the food and the views, I tend to avoid it because of the service.

I have been to this restaurant at least a 1/2 dozen times.  The service is more often than not, very poor.  Our last experience, this past Saturday (6/18/2011) was absolutely terrible.  After I finally decided to go to the kitchen to request a waiter(ess)...we just decided to leave and head to the Vail Steak house.  Service there was, right on.  Anyway back to Del Lago...do not waste your time.  The food is pricey and not that good.  The establishment is beautiful and has nice views, nice tables all that is good.  The entry way smells of bath room and the service is terrible, terrible, terrible.  We walked in the door, the hostess/waitress suggested we take a seat in the bar if we wanted to be waited on any time soon.  That just did not work out.  We sat in the bar, no trouble there, but waited over 10 minutes and were never acknowledged.  As I mentioned before, I went to the kitchen to find a waitress.  She was in 'transition' and the bartender, who looked at us multiple times, just ignored that we were sitting there looking thirsty and hungry...no effort, not a word...I'll be with you in a minute or hour or day or week or ever.

    Forget this place.  Kirk

Make no mistake about it this is golf course ambiance.

The restaurant is across the foyer from the pro shop. The building is quite nice with stunning views of the Rincon Mountains to the north, especially from the patio. The tables are a little bit larger than normal, so you don't feel crowded once the food is placed before you.

The food has been generally consistent and tasty. My wife likes the various salads (grilled chicken salad, spinach salad with candied pecans, dried cranberries, sliced Granny Smith apples, cilantro lime dressing and optional grilled chicken), while I found the hamburgers to be a value for the price, and fries are good. They have a lot of specials - there's a fish fry on Fridays for $9.75, and tonight I had the all-you-can-eat St. Louis style pork ribs with baked potato, green salad with cilantro lime dressing (cool and bit tangy), and broccoli. It was very good, the meat fell off the bones, but was served a tad cooler than I would have liked.

I would probably have given them four stars, but being a golf course restaurant, noise from a couple of foursomes at the bar was distracting, and at times there can be big groups of kids in after sports practice which can bring up the noise level. Otherwise, this is a great place to eat an early dinner, especially after a round of golf or after spending the afternoon at nearby Colossal Cave.
