Good, nice meal. Â Good service. Â We had scallops and crabcakes. Â Both well prepared. I was a little put off by the parking situation. Â There were no spaces across the street and there were a bunch of really nice cars parked out front- well, I have a nice car. Â I went inside and asked if the front, perhaps was valet, and she told me that it was for "take out". Â I guess only people with high end German cars "take out". Â In any event- when I told her the lot was full, she said "I guess you are on your own then". Â nice customer service. Â I didn't expect her to park my car, Â but maybe say "there is usually parking on this street, or that street". Â Not everyone lves in harvey cedars. Â By this time, there was a space across the street. Â We waited about an hour. They do provide an ice trough and cups for wine or beer. Â
Overall, this was good, not spectacular- I'd go back if it were convenient.  They could hire front of  the house people who are a little friendlier.  It is obvious when you are eating on the north side of the island where this is less competitiion that they dont feel the need t otry as hard.
not only is the food mediocre (platters of food overcooked and over portioned for the nj obese crowd), this restaurant has mounted a campaign to destroy the business of their neighbor across the road: the much better Black Eyed Susan's. Read the NYTimes review on that place and decide for yourself. HCS can't compete on cuisine  so I guess they feel justified to play dirty. Well, my friends and family are boycotting this place.
Review Source:Average seafood at exorbitant prices.
Clams casino: funny spice, diced clam inside, with a whole slice of tomato on top plus some peppers and a strong pre-mix bread crumb taste (not whole clam with crusty baked top with a little piece of bacon as expected)
NE Clam Chowder: Average. Very small pieces of clam, very very creamy, almost too creamy (flour-style creamy, not cream-creamy), and there was not enough of a clam flavor.
Mussels: dry
Lobster: dry
Soft shell crabs: funny spice taste again, served on Rice-a-Roni. The veggies were clearly from a frozen pre-mix bag and pretty gross.
Had dinner here Saturday night, Â first night of our week down the shore. Â Been coming here for a while. Â It has the best and freshest seafood on the island. Â We had the scallops, which were done to perfection. Â When eating in, come early and make sure to bring some beverages. Â Eat in, or take out, Â you can't find better seafood on LBI.
