This place is a bit hit or miss. Â First, it's a dark bar, and I love dark bars. Â Secondly, it's fairly cool looking in a chic kind of way. Â I have found that the clientele here is a bit younger than me on most nights, but during the afternoon (if I happen to be in the area for AHA or something) the place is usually dead, and you can sit and have a conversation. Â The prices were just a bit on the pricey side. Â A coors light pint was $4. Â Actually now that I think about it, that's a fair price. Â I can honestly say that there are two reasons that I have given this place three stars and not four. Â Scratch that, three reasons. Â 1. Â I know someone that was standing there mind his own business and got sucker punched. Â To this day he doesn't know why it happened. Â 2. Â They have the kind of clientele that goes around sucker punching people. Â I have been there a couple of times before for karaoke, and it seems it's not only a younger crowd, but it's the kind of crowd that needs bouncers. Â 3. Â I have never felt that comfy there. Â But then again, I have never felt comfy in a bar situation that you can't talk to the person next to you. Â If you have to shout, it's just not for me. Â So all in all, my recommendation is to go earlier in the evening, when they just open, and you will probably enjoy your drink and conversation with your friends.
Review Source:I like to go to Hibernia, when its not super busy, its fun when its busy, but I like the place, and generally enjoy drinking with a few friends here. Â Sometimes busy isn't what I'm looking for in a bar. Â
however, best place to go if you want to watch the sporting event of the evening. Â They get a pretty good crowd for "big games" and I totally dig the camaraderie and atmosphere that creates. Â
All in all a solid choice for a bar most nights.
PS: I don't do Karaoke so, I can't really comment on that, but I have friends that go all the time, and seem to enjoy it enough, but Contests at places like that will always be unfairly judged.
Just an update...I'm warming up to the place. Â Went on a Monday night, Lee Ann was working. Â She is actually an awesome 'tender with a great personality, and funny as hell. Â Had two dogfish, nice and cold (despite the lack of AC, huh???). Â Still not a "go-to" spot, but getting there...
