So Lets start of by saying, I don't frequent straight bars. Being a gay man, It's just normally uncomfortable. lots of testosterone, and always the fear someones going to loose their shit cause they think your interested in them, or worse they don't get it and think your hitting on their Girl. Odd situation no real way out. Also i find that straight bars don't know how to serve liquor right! You spend a million years in line waiting for the one over worked Bartender for a poorly made well drink.
Now that I have that out of the way. I actually like this place. It's very garage band hole in the wall vibe where anyone can feel at home. they have a large porch area, and many times have live bands. Â The local population of college kids are friendly and good natured. the drinks are reasonable if not still shitty well quality. Â booths in the corner, dance floor, unisex bathrooms that only take 1 at a time.
In my life is this the best bar ever?!?! No but for Hilo it's definitely the best i have found. Grab a beer chill and listen to a local garage band pound out there tunes.
Based on the older crowd that was there the one night we were in town, it was really obvious we were not from the area.
We had the pizza and wings. Food and drinks was good. There was live entertainment, which I always appreciate. Everyone was dancing. I don't mean to be offensive but a jazz number came on and a group of ladies performed a routine. I laughed that 40 years from now, that would be us doing the Soulja Boy or Cupid Shuffle. I was charmed by the place and the ambiance.
