Holy Smokes BBQ

Stopped by mid morning after seeing a sign on the street for BBQ brisket and pastrami. They have a food trailer in a large grass lot off the main road (270) between Hawi and Kapa'au and you can sit outside on the grass or take food to go.

Had a BBQ brisket sandwich on a fresh baked bun with barbeque sauce and coleslaw. The brisket was tender and flavorful - not dry! and the coleslaw was sweet and tasty. They also gave us a free taste of pork bacon - great!

Fado and Shannon (the owners) were really nice; had good conversation with them and they are really into their food. Shannon makes fresh buns and coleslaw among other things and Fado does the smoking/cooking. Worth a stop if you are in the neighborhood for some local flavor.
