Huggin Molly's

Huggin' Molly's is a great place to visit if you find yourself on US 431 near Abbeville.  The building has been restored to resemble an old fashioned restaurant and soda fountain. Several of the buildings on the same block and throughout the town have also been restored to resemble something out of the 1950's. We ate there during the evening and walked around the town before and after dinner. The 1950's style store fronts and the deserted sidewalks made the experience a bit surreal.

The food was actually pretty good. I had a burger and fries and sampled some of the chicken pot pie and onion rings. All were good and hot! I would definitely visit again the next time I drive through the area.

Cannot rate the food as service was terrible, waited 45 minutes for a BLT and a plate of cheddar biscuts, they never came and we left. it was a busy on 7 Apr at 1pm. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated, the food that was delivered to the other tables looked plentyful, well prepared and didn't hear anyone complain. Guess Molly decided that kin folk of the Riley family didn't need to eat and misplaced our order. The rating of two stars is based solely on the service and I'm sure if I decide to drive the 2 hours and try Huggin Molly's out again I'll be able to give a higher rating. Ihope Molly understands and doesn't find her way to Columbus Ga to give me a big hug and scream in my ear.

If  you go through this town add a quick stop over to eat lunch or dinner. They actually cook there instead of it coming in bags , etc. like chain eateries.

Great onion rings, fried green tomatoes, pickles. Delicious cheese grits and Mac &cheese. I normally get the steak, bake potato, and southern style green beans, but I always get onion rings.

There is something for everyone.
