Love the atmosphere of this place. Â According to my Augusta-local tour guide, this building used to be a gun store, so the Indian Queen kind of feels like a bar inside of an old-timey cabin, if that cabin was clean, smelled good, and had a full bar, but you get the idea.
I initially stuck with a classic G&T, but after tasting my tour guide's mojito, I knew that's what I was getting next. Â It's not your average bar where a drink that involves muddling and fresh herbs is a must order, but here it definitely is. Â They actually had a pretty impressive stock of mint and other garnishes (fresh cherries, strawberries, etc) for a place where the most expensive drink off the cocktail menu tops out at about $8. Â I will say that the female bartender's mojito making skills were not *quite* as good as the other guy manning the bar, but it was still a surprisingly good drink.
Though it was still pretty dead around 9:30pm on a Friday night, business began to pick up when we left about an hour later, and my tour guide told me it's usually packed out come 11pm or so. Â But before the crowds arrived, it was a good spot to get a night cap and chat.
This is a good bar with really nice and carefully thought out mixed drinks and a really nice space. Â The only thing keeping it from begin five stars is the lack of draft beer. Â That would really make it the go-to bar in augusta. Â They did a great job of making booze-free versions of their signature drinks for my pregnant wife. Â Being smoke free is great as well. Â This place has a lot of potential and will definitely be back.
Review Source:A good bar conveniently located within walking distance from my house. I like the relaxed atmosphere that is much different than bars downtown. Its located in the old gun cabinet and gives a great log cabin feel. You can rent out a cabinet and save your own liquor for a monthly fee which is pretty neat. I like : its not smoky inside, good parking and a crums truck outside on the weekends. I dont like that they dont have anything on tap and some of the bartenders have been pretty rude a few times. But I will still be going back here!
