I must say, since my last review this place has gone downhill. It just seems dirty and has a strange and uncomfortable vibe now. I also found one of the bartenders to be very rude. I saw what looked like some sort of large bug crawling across the floor on my way to the restrooms (not sure if it was a cockroach or not). The bar just seemed dirty and I had to ask for a new glass twice. The dancing crowd and pool tables are still fun.

I've never eaten at the Iris Lounge, so this review is only related to the establishment as a place to listen to music and dance.  As an "older" woman, I feel totally comfortable at Iris Lounge. For a few bucks you can valet park your car so that you feel safe arriving and leaving.  Although they have their share of intoxicated customers, there are a noticeable number of people who are not drinking alcohol who just come to dance, relax, and have a good time.  Late night it can get a little wild on the dance floor, but no one seems to be judging anyone.  It seems everyone can find a dance partner at Iris - young or old.  I would give it a five if it were a little more upscale, but the relaxed atmosphere is really part of it's charm.  I wouldn't expect to find "Mr. Right" hanging at Iris.  It just doesn't have that vibe or that clientele.  But, you can come dressed in your best cocktail dress or in jeans.  I like having that option.  I look at Iris as my alternative to an aerobics or zumba class - but much more fun!

I would give this place 4 stars if it wasn't for the music. Me and my friends go here a lot because it's closer to home than other clubs but the music is whack. Gotta change up the DJ Iris!! :) That is how you will get the younger crowd that you are looking for.

Went last night with my BFF. Had a ton of fun. Kind of reminds me of a cruise ship night club. Just good clean fun. Very diverse crowd, young and old, all races. The thing that stood out the most was the laid back unpretentious atmosphere. Everybody was just there to dance and laugh and have a great time. Loved the local feel. None of that DC snootiness.

My only criticism is that the drinks are watered down. Also, because the music is linked to the videos that play on the screen, it doesn't really allow the DJ to get too creative. Mostly Top 40 hits. But no biggie.

I go here to play pool often. I have had good experiences but my last experience turned me completely off and has changed the way I view it. I ordered some sushi and a ginger ale but the ginger ale didn't taste normal so I sent it back and asked for a water. I found something in my water. I noticed when I took a sip and something black, green and slimy ended up in my mouth. I spit it out and put it on the rim of my glass and there were several pieces of it. I looked in the bottom of my glass and there was a host of something that appeared to be fungi's chunks. I told 3 different people that worked there and asked to see a manager. The manager took almost 20 minutes to come and didn't seem to care when he didn't seem to care. He said he would check the ice and walked away. He even saw that I took pictures of the water and foreign object and still didn't seem to care. Perhaps this is the type of thing that the staff is use to but I found it unacceptable.

Got here 5:30 pm Friday evening and place wasn't crowded at all although it started to gather people at the bar. Had fish and chips (good batter on fish) and nachos with everything. Service was good and the food tasty but not super. All the waitresses were in black skin tight clothing with lace and tattoos and all were friendly (but not in the wrong way). You can't beat $5 Happy Hour martinis and beer! We might come  back to go dancing or check out the cigar room or billiards. Seems like a good night spot and definitely not pretentious, and not "upscale trendy."  Valet parking is "complimentary" but you know you will tip the guy.. Wheelchair ramp is beside front door but you may have to roll through seats on the ramp that the parking valets sit in. Didn't check bathrooms for accessibility but likely to be usable.

The Iris lounge, the most diverse lounge I've ever been to.  It appears this place in the day time is a sushi place, but at night it's a night club.  When it turns into a club you will find the Young, the middle age, cougars and sugar daddies,  all of different race.  You will find some dress up in suits or those dressed down in a T-shirt and jeans.  As for music, it's the same, a little something for everybody.  From the new hits on the radio to a little bit of Usher with his 2004 hit "Yeah!", to Juveniles 1999 hit "Back That Thang Up", Bell Biv DeVoe 1990's hit single "Poison" Latin infused Merengue and  Bachata Music to include others.   All of this brought to you on a huge screen broadcasting the actual videos Choreograph  in sync with the music.  We call this a video DJ in the DJ community.  Shockingly there was a good amount of people here.  It was the perfect mix of enough people to dance if you wanted to or wait just a bit to get a drink.  The Iris Lounge also has Valet parking for just $3.00 or you can self-park for free. Ladies are free guys after 10pm have to pay $10.  The ratio was 2 guys to 1 female, which makes for better ratio if you happen to go to DC.  Overall, I'm a fan and will be back every now and then.

This place tries too hard to be a cool hip lounge/club.

I get there and the place is empty but the girl at the front wants to charge $10 per person when are about 4 people in there on Saturday.

The crowd. Ladies wearing leopard coats and weird music. The DJ's are flat out playing stuff like Mambo #5. Really?

The place is full of old Asian women looking for sugar daddies. If you want to sppend money and like old asian ladies, then go here quick!

This place calls itself a sushi restaurant. It's so bad you have to try it for yourself and experience it.

Normally, One star means don't go but it's so bad you have to experience it once including some of the dance moves you will see.

So we were having a little house reunion in Sterling and wanted to go out for a few drinks and listen to some music... my friend who lives in Sterling suggested this place.

    1. We pull up and they offer us valet- umm, no thanks. We'll just park. You have to go around the entire complex in order to park.

    2. There is typically a cover after 11pm for gentlemen on the wknds. Free for ladies.

    3. We sat at some round tables and grabbed some menus at the bar. The bartender said we could order with him or a waitress would come by. After 15-20 mins- still no waitress. We ask for the waitress and were told by a gentleman in a suit that he would check to see if the waitress was busy and could attend to our table. What?! We were a little perturbed then b/c he could have just said you need to order at the bar- make up your mind please.

    4. Though we were placated then with a free round of drinks and some complimentary appetizers- prawns, chorizo (had a nice kick) and a ceviche- that made me feel a little better.

    5. I used my yelp $10 for $20 coupon. No problem with using that and getting it subtracted from the bill.

    6. It was REALLY dark where we were seated-- I would have appreciated a candle or something on the table b/c I kid you not, we used our phones to look at the food. My friends ordered the chicken tenders which were good- I mean you can't really go wrong with fried chicken right?

    7. I ordered the eel roll and it came out with 8 pieces laid on on a plate instead of in a roll style- I know it doesn't impact the taste of the food but it was still interesting to see it laid out that way. And according to some other commenters- the rice was TOO gelatinous- I think they need to find that combo where the rice doesn't taste so sticky.

    8. They played top 40 and other hip-hop but we weren't really in the mood to dance-- especially given then it was a place for the 40 plus crowd- nothing wrong with that but just wasn't in the mood.

So overall, if you are looking for an older crowd to be around, have a few drinks, play some pool and listen to some music/dance- then this could be the place for you. I do appreciate the free round of drinks and appetizers but I was already a goner during the 15-20 min wait for service.

Cool place to hang out, drink and dance or sit back and watch the dancers.  The place was clean, lively and fun atmosphere.

Met a friend here for happy hour and really didn't know what to expect. This place is in a very nondescript building, but don't be deceived. I was unexpectedly impressed with Iris Lounge. We sat at the bar, ordered a couple drinks and a small bite from the happy hour menu.

We ended up trying the Spicy Chicken Roulade. The chicken filling had a nice balance of flavor with only a slight kick and a delicate crispiness. So for those who can't really take spicy food, not to worry because it's not really that spicy.

Overall, the food and service were pretty good. This place had a fun vibe with great happy hour specials. It happened to be salsa night, so it was fun to watch some of the salsa dancing. It's a place I would definitely return to for happy hour if I was in the neighborhood.

Iris Lounge is a much needed bar close to McLean's business complex. Unlike most of McLean's culinary and libation offerings, Iris Lounge is not pretentious and pricey nor is it in one of the malls.  Iris Lounge shares its building with a number of other small businesses and an auto repair shop around the corner from its door.  There is a nice large bar with plenty of seating here as well as several tables that are visible from the bar and a stage where local musicians play nightly.  There is a large room downstairs where events such as  wine tasting are held and an upstairs area for private parties.  There is also a cigar room that feeds to the slew of male professionals that meet there after work.  Strangely enough there is a sushi stand separate from the kitchen which has a completely separate menu.

The night I went here we ordered a mix drink and a martini as well as took advantage of the $5 happy hour menu, total $28. I was good with the decision to order the spicy calamari but rather a skeptic when the rest of my party's decision was to order the mussels.  In my opinion, ordering a bowl of mussels anywhere for $5 may equate to a midnight run to the emergency room.  However, when the mussels came out they were adequately cooked and there were plenty to share. To my surprise, we enjoyed the mussels and there were no medical emergencies.  The acoustics is poor here so often it was a struggle to converse as well as speak to the server.  The location, price, and ambiance makes for a recipe for ------ success.

Note:  Parking is limited and it is a chore to negotiate through the parking lot.  Go ahead and valet.

My review is for the bar/dance floor area, NOT for the cigar room.  The bartenders are quite friendly here, but the crowd...ughh...old white men (probably republican).  I ain't going back there again...

Suprisingly, a really cool spot for cigar smokers.  The valet service is great and the drinks aren't bad.  I've been there a few times for business and stayed later for entertaining upstairs in the lounge.  The membership fee is reasonable, especially for Tysons area.  I have a lot of fun each time I stop in for a visit.

I had a large event in the billiards room last night and the service and food was excellent.  We had the tomato & basil brushetta, chips & salsa, cheese, fruit, crackers, baked ziti, buffalo wing, beef and chicken sagte, chipotle meatballs, roast beef sandwiches and drinks.  Robert, Chris, Kristina, and team members gave 100% and we enjoyed it.  I will have many more events at Iris.

I have been to this place on 3 different occasions and I seriously can't understand this place for the life of me!

I went with a small group of friends each time and my friends are fun, but I really DO NOT want to dance with anyone in that place.  I like to explore places in Northern Va. so I decided to give this place a shot, but way too many times.  The place is huge, spacious, great for dancing and large groups.  They also have pool tables in another room.  Maybe this place is good playing pool and that only!  They have a sushi bar and large TV's to watch and totally stay distracted.  Bartenders are good and attentive.

1st visit in 10/2012 on a Thursday for Latin night.  0.5 star.  Empty and never picked up.  They wanted to charge $10, but I said NO DICE!  Nobody was inside.  They waived our $10 admission charge.  I will not go back on a Thursday unless I came with my own dance partner or something, then it would be ok.  Music was nice.  Bartender was nice.  Waitress disappeared and we ordered a round of drinks from the bar.  When she decided to return, she reprimanded us for not ordering from her.  I asked to speak to the manager and she quickly apologized.  There were 2 women there throwing themselves at a group of men...odd.

2nd visit in 12/2012, Friday night - top 40 club, dance music.  I give it  0.5 star.  I would only return if it was someone's birthday and they insisted on going here.  The decent thing you get some people coming in after work so the crowd is less bizarre.  Lot's of guys playing with their cell phones or staring at the TV's.  Plenty of older guys with overbearing, smelly, strong cologne and showing too much chest for comfort.

3rd visit in 1/2013, Saturday night - club night again.  0.0000 Star.  Just don't go.  Don't say I didn't warn you.  Very, very ODD crowd.  There are a lot of women showing guys pictures of themselves in provocative clothing - as in bikinis and under garments - attempting to sell themselves.  Older women, a lot Asian like Filipino I *think*, dancing all over each other, again way too provocatively.  I happened to strike up a conversation with a guy there and I asked were these women prostitutes or something and he thought the same thing.  I think some of the women that go there are there clearly there to sell themselves.  Its as plain as day and quite frankly, it disgusts me.

I only went because some friends really wanted to get out and go dancing and I am up for a night of dancing, but not here.  The atmosphere is weird.

Surprisingly impressed with this place for happy hour.  Went right before the holidays, was told most of the areas out front were taken with company parties.  We pulled up a few stools at the bar and ended up staying at least a few hours.  Food was great, bartenders were incredibly knowledgable about everything (learned a few things about Japanese Scotch)- and the amtmosphere was perfect for winding down after a long flight and then work.

Next time I am down there, I'll be sure to stop by, grab a few drinks, HH apps (cheap and great portions) and enjoy the people there!

Im not a cluber, im a lover lol.

Since being domesticated, I've not gone out in a long time. That changed, some weekends ago. I pulled in on a Saturday night. Valet took my car.

I was worried that I would be too old and that I was not going to enjoy this "club" like place. Dead wrong. They had pool tables, and I was hooked. I got to shoot pool, eat, and witness the reality of life..people get old, and there were lots of old people in there. I remember growing up seeing just a handful of 30 year olds in clubs, secretly telling myself that I would never do that and how pathetic (look at me now). Iris was packed full of people in their 30's, 40's, and dare I say, a 50 here and there. Not being a hater, but it was just an eye opening experience.

Anyways, the reason this place gets a 3 is beause as my friends and I were shooting pool, the waitress walked past us like a billion times (the pool area was not that busy) without offering us anything. I had to stop her about 3 games in. The food believe it or not was pretty damn decent. The other reduction was for the amount of deliberate eye f*c*k*ng that goes on in this place. I couldnt bend over to shoot. Ok, that was a joke but seriously, its annoying to see so many men just being sooper cool holding their drinks expecting some hot cougar (yes, rawr) to initiate someething. Come on guys, the cougars need you to at least wink. jk.

All in all, this place was ok. Food, drinks, food.

Was greeted at the door by bar manger Robert and instantly felt at home. After telling him what a bad day I had he took me to the bar and bought me and all my friends a round of shots! I was in shock at how great he treated us! I will definetly be making this place my new local bar of choice. Their staff is super friendly and personable, unlike anything you will ever find in a posh lounge in DC.

This is a chill place to go for happy hour or just on any night. So far I have been here a few times, all on slow nights. I would definitely up Iris to a 5 star, when I experience a full-fledged party night here. Thursday nights.. Ladies Night. Get Crunk Night.

About ten or so different $5 appetizers to choose from and low prices on house cocktails and wines. $1 off domestic beers. (HH til 8:30pm)

Plenty of TVs including a massive projector screen on the dance floor wall, which makes it a pretty decent place to watch a game. They have some pool tables in the other room. Sushi bar in the middle of the place. Dining tables scattered throughout the place. Cool, friendly bartenders. Superb service (on slower nights).

I'd hit up Iris again in a heart beat.

I came here for wine night with a few of my co-workers after work. We had all purchased the Groupon for this place and decided to check it out since it was less than a mile from the office. When I got there, the outside looks like a big warehouse so it can be somewhat easy to miss. There were no parking spots available, but there's complimentary valet when you pull into the parking lot - you'll see people wearing "Iris Lounge" t-shirts.

Inside, the wine tasting was held in a large room to the right. It was definitely an unexpected surprise! I actually didn't know what to expect, as none of us have been there and there were a limited number of reviews about this place. It was pretty nicely decorated and ambiance was pretty cool with the live jazz music. There were three big tables with different wine representatives at each to pour and tell you about samples. I was very impressed with the array of food! I assumed there would just be cheese and crackers, but there was a huge assortment of other items that included pasta salad (a MUST), pulled pork BBQ, sausage; not to mention they passed out hors d'oeuvres of shrimp, mozzarella balls, chicken wings (another MUST), ribs (didn't have but heard they were delicious). Overall, not too bad for the $12 that we spent from Groupon.

I'm not sure what this place is like during normal dinner service or during the "nightlife" hours, but I know that the group I went with would most definitely spend the regularly-priced $25 to go back to another wine night.

What a great place! Its not impressive from the outside nor is it in a well known area but once you are in, your doubts disappear. I came in for the monthly wine club on a groupon and lets just say i am definitely planning to go again.

For $25 you get as many tastes as you would like of 12 different bottles of wine based on the theme for the evening. Plus you get an amazing assortment of cheeses, sushi, and other finger foods that can easily be made into a dinner. Be sure to get there early...the sushi runs out but luckily all the other foods were replenished as needed.

It is a great place to go hang out and grab some food and drinks.  It has a low key atmosphere but also offers good music and a dance floor (Even though not many people will be dancing).

Decent prices and pretty good food.  Sushi looked really good but decided to go with the grilled chicken salad which was very good as well.

Good selection of drinks and also room with pool tables off to the side. Overall good experience

Going here since it opened in 2000 as e-citi.  The new owner / manager has abandoned the high end restaurant operation and has instead remade the place into more of a sports bar with a dance floor.  I like it.  It's clear that he invested a lot of money in the recent make over.  I like that, too, except for the silly lamps hanging down over the bar that can block the view of the very nice and plentiful high def, big screen TVs.  Speaking of TVs, in the past year there has been more of a push in showing the Nats / Caps/ Wizards games which is the way it should be because those are our local teams.  Previously, they used to show a lot of foreign soccer games and stuff like tennis matches.  Why I don't know, but it's an affliction that is found in many local bars.

The bartenders are very nice and despite what some reviewers say about watered down drinks, they actually free pour some powerful cocktails;  no complaints from me.  The cover charge is modest and all other prices are reasonable.   Valet parking on Friday and Saturday nights, well worth the couple of extra bucks, but there's plenty of free parking around the corner and up on the small hill.

The customers are a mix of young and old.  The staff has told me that the owner wants a younger, edgier crowd and is frustrated by the fact that the customer demographic remains stuck in 35-50 range.   As part of the older crowd, I'm a bit dismayed by owner's dislike of us senior people, but as long as the staff treats us nicely I'll keep spending money there.  Also, I do try to avoid bothering the younger ladies - I know old guys pestering 25 year old girls can be an issue.

Couple of pet peeves:  they recently replaced the high tables in the bar area with smaller tables - you feel like a kid in school sitting at these tiny tables in the bar area.  As well, a few more chairs in the bar area would be greatly appreciated.

A few things--for the area, it's a decent place. The crowd is friendlier than pretty much any you'll find in DC. With that being said, it's definitely slightly older than pretty much any you'll find in DC in terms of similar venues. I actually had fun while I was here, but it's getting two stars for two reasons:
    A. The DJ was rather rude and wouldn't take any requests.
    B. If you do valet parking and leave the car overnight on Saturday, don't expect to get your car back until Monday. I learned this the hard way. Had I planned to leave my car, I probably wouldn't have valet parked it. But, the nature of places with loud music, fun crowds, and lots of alcohol is such that sometimes you make a decision that you shouldn't drive after all. Which is what I did and I subsequently was unable to get my car back after making A LOT of unanswered phone calls. I didn't even get a return phone call until the following day. It was ridiculous.

If there's a shortage of cougars and sugar daddies, you won't find it here. With that said... I still enjoy the HH specials at this place. If you go with a big group of friends, it's actually not bad at all. Thusday is ladies night with $2 martini's and 50% off food specials. I walked out with a $12 bar tab and food to take home! Now, if you are a female, and come here with another female friend, then beware. With 100% certainty, you will be preyed upon.

This is a cool place - tucked into an industrial warehouse off Tyco road in tysons, it reminded me of a smaller scale "Billy Bobs" in Ft. Worth texas.  It's huge in there, there is a pool room, a dance floor and an upstairs area totally sealed off for cigar smokers with a bar and great service from waitresses.  Definite place to set up a meetup or party.

So, we were in Tysons Corner, looking for a bar that was not Chef Geoffs, O'Malleys, or Clydes, and Yelp's 3.5 star rating guided us here. I would have never found the place otherwise. This place is located in what appears to be an industrial strip mall. The exterior actually looks a lot like a metal pole barn. Inside, though, this place is all right, and quite spacious. The $10 cover was an annoyance, but I had already had that demon alcohol on my lips and had to have more. We paid the door fee and settled in next to a large bar where we could sip our booze and watch the dance floor. Bar service was fast and friendly, and the dance floor was packed. They keep this place dim, and at 1:45, we found out why. Many of the girls we mistook for 20- and 30-somethings were outted as 40-somethings when the lights came on. Still though, it was an energetic crowd that was mainly there for the dancing. If you like to salsa, you'll love this place. And if you love to salsa with cougars who are out on the town on a random Tuesday night, you'll really love this place.

This place is a great place for drinks, dancing and just hanging out. what more do you want, I think the men and women are decent and well dressed, I can`t even be bothered to go to DC anymore, who wants to go there when I can hang out here, lots of parking, don`t have to worry about getting a ticket or pay $10,00 for valet. Tuesday nite Salsa is really fun, food is yummy and drinks are OK, get Grey Goose if you are fussy.

I was shocked to find a place with such a packed parking lot, yet so few yelp reviews. Upon walking in, I realized the most likely reason for this curious phenomenon - the place is mostly a 40+ club lounge, but nonetheless a very good club lounge.

For all my gold digging and cougar hunting friends, you won't be lack of options at this place. But for those who just want a nice club lounge to go to in the area, you surely can't go wrong here either.

$10 cover was not too high to turn me away and not too low for me to question the quality of the place. The people were dressed business casual - some in suits, some in the button down sports shirts, and the women in standard dance club clothing. Very diverse crowd, which gives it an overall feel of classy, but not pretentious. There's a bit of everything here, so there's no feeling like you'll stand out.

Layout is top notch, large crowd but plenty of space to feel comfortable. There's a nice seating area for the dinner folks (they serve food until fairly late), a good sized bar with a generous drinks list, and an area for when you want to get your groove on on the dance floor. There's plenty of people in each area, but nothing is overly crowded.

And finally, the music. It's a great mix of top 40 and house. As someone who typically prefers the top 40 just because it's easiest to dance to for me, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the house tracks - they were catchy, had great beats, and weren't a bit too obnoxious as sometimes house can tend to get. Overall, it was a quality dj with excellent dance music that seems to get everyone onto the dance floor at some point in the night.

Overall, this place is excellent. Has a non-pretentious urban vibe with a local flavor without sacrificing on any of the sophistication that a quality club-lounge should have.

First impression of Iris was an older space with a new concept.  It is sort of stowed away behind some lower end industrial/commercial buildings on Tyco Rd.  The moment you walk in, it is a true to heart sports bar / lounge / night club / billiards room / cigar room.  You can smell the smoke, but it is not heavy and unbearable.  Those sensitive breathers, that amount of smoke does attach to clothing.  There are some HDTVs near the bar, and an HD projector onto the white backdrop.  Nice for football watching, and taking a date out.  We went on a weekend and the cover charge was $10 each.  Drinks and food were normal prices as of any sports bar / lounge.  something interesting was that they offer fresh oysters for $.85 each.  The Sushi was a disappointment as a higher standard was anchored from a previous review stating the chef worked at the Japanese Embassy.  The rice was way too gelatin, although the filling was delicious.  The combination of the rice, and the filling did not work.

We ordered a new beer they were serving, and it tasted pretty bad.  Our waitress was pretty young and was unsure whether it was okay to swap it, but we did get a swap.

It is a pretty good local place to chill, and spend a couple hours.  Parking is a hassle as there is barely any near it.  They keep all those closet spots 'valet.'  It gets pretty cold here these days and that is quite a walk, especially when most dates wear heels.

Security wise, there are some bouncers that roam and a door bouncer that arrives later when it gets busy.  A Fairfax County patrol car parks and monitors all outside activity.  It is McLean, Virginia a relatively safe area.

They advertise some custom billiard tables that may entice some.  It is an older crowd, a more mature environment.  Probably a 90% split, and a 10% young crowd.  DJ plays mostly music that attract a specific demographic.  Because it is a more mature crowd, environment feels much more professional and comfortable.

I recommend taking a look.  There are few local lounges nearby.

I used to come here on Tuesdays for salsa nights, but I lost interest. I felt really uncomfortable during the lessons. I get it - salsa and bachata are sexy (!!!) - but I don't care for an instructor making innuendos every couple of  minutes and teaching combos that look like foreplay.

The bartenders are cool, and the food is good, so I might try eCITIE (now Iris Lounge) on another night of the week. As for salsa night: meh.

I came to this place with a my sister in law. She raves about this place during the week but has never been there on a Saturday night. We came rather early and only stayed a few hours because we both were tired from earlier. Anyway, this place has some really good food. I had their 1/2lb Kobe beef burger and fries and wasn't disappointed. The burger was soooo good. The fries were just okay but the burger made up for that. My friend got the spinach artichoke dip with chips and it was also very good. I talked to the owner and he was a very nice guy. The bartender was very nice and made us laugh. I would love to check out this place during the week when it can get be slammed.

Bartenders a real friendly and the sushi is the best kept secret in the Vienna / Tysons area.  Seriously, I know the Sushi thing sounds ridiculous, but trust me on this one, I eat a lot of sushi at many different places around NoVa and the country.  The guy preparing the sushi use to work for the Japanese embassy and it is very good.
