Went here for my birthday on Friday night and was really looking forward to a great dinner. The menu looked promising and I've heard really good things.
I was greatly disappointed. I ordered the short rib. Where do I even begin to describe all of the culinary fails that were made. First off the short rib was dry. No sauce. Just some pickled onion that was a poor attempt at pickling. How do you not serve some type of sauce with a short rib? It also lacked seasoning. The risotto was the worst risotto I have ever had in my life. It was extremely overcooked and had no depth of flavor. Where was the cheese? It was not creamy at all and was just a blob of starch.
My friend ordered the duck med rare and that too was tough and lacked any type of seasoning. I don't know if this was an "off" night (we all have them, I know) but there is no excuse for the lack of heart that was missing from these dishes. It seemed as though the kitchen was just trying to push the plates out without no real sense of care.
Usually I would give a place another try but I don't think I will with the Iron Forge.
SO YUMMY! I can't believe the overall rating is only 3.5 stars.....how can this be....
I loved the appetizers, we had mushroom ragout (AMAZING blend of flavors) and the scallops crudo (SO fresh and jumbo)
Main dish of surf and turf and pork chop were great too. Every corner of our plates were scraped clean.
Service was attentive, environment was unique. Will DEFinitely come back despite the distance from my home.
