Went here for dinner last night as an alternative to our first choice which had over an hour wait for a table for two.  Service was painfully slow.  Food was good but not great.  My husband's drink was very weak.  Waitress was friendly when she eventually came by to our table.  I hadn't been here in a while - was happy to see that they've modernized their interior some.

I have been eating here for many years and I absolutely love it. The food is wonderful and the prices are great too. I would recommend J.J Boomers to everybody.

I visited last night after class and I was very hungry. I sat down and wanted a turkey dinner, not realizing the kitchen closes in twenty minutes. The wait staff, very nice and attentive with a sense of urgency informed me that it may not be that great because the kitchen people are closing up soon. She was right, the turkey was a bit hard and cold and the bread over toasted, stuffing was crunchy and not all that great. Overall this meal was okay because of how hungry I was and the bartender offered to buy me a beer which was really nice. My conclusion. Coming from a management background in restaurants the idea is to always serve fresh food up until closing no matter what, This is why the fast food places that do close are so successful. I understand the cooks need to get home, however they should be trained to sell the best food possible to a paying customer and not be worried about closing until the clock strikes close, then you clean. Their is no exception to this and if you are getting ready to close, grab a clean sauteed pan, heat the food hot with fresh sauces and cook it with perfection. needless to say I was well informed what I was getting, my mere point is, high standards should always be the focus no matter what time it is and the cooks should be well aware of this with no grey area whatsoever. Overall good place to have a delicious pumpkin head beer and the bartender was excellent.
