Jamestown Hooligan's Pub and Eats

Came with a friend & boyfriend on a Saturday evening--bar was empty except a couple at the bar and 1 guy at a pub table. We waited almost 15 minutes for the bartender to stop his personal conversation to serve us.  We got excited when we saw a cocktail waitress approaching--our excitement quickly dissipated when she gave us a dirty look and then sat at the table with the guy at the pub table.  The bar area had an overwhelming smell of urine & the floors were sticky. Although we were starving, we opted not to eat. Seriously--when the bar is empty, maybe take some initiative and mop? Clean the tables?  When people started to filter in, it became clear the bartender and waitstaff had no idea how to handle crowds, nor did they have bar experience.  Did the owner just hire his friends and family? Rude staff, poor service, and the place was DIRTY.  I'll not be back.

The main problem with the food is consistency, sometimes really really good and other times not so much.  The kids menu is lacking to say the least and the mac and cheese my grandson ordered looked like the mac&cheese in the blue box...gross and at 5.50 a rip off....The fish and chips are good and the onion rings are good but a bit pricey...

I'm on the fence. I wish they had more non-domestic beer (but I realize that the hicks in this county can't even spell beyond "bud") for one. I've gone twice and the first time was really not a good experience (no menus, poor wait service, bad fish and chips - being on a sunday I think they served sub-par fish which really isn't good) and when I tried it again more recently, it was better. Granted I was pretty buzzed and would've eaten anything, the burger and fries were good and I liked the bartender (cute blond girl) and a guy that identified himself as the bouncer on weekends was also very nice. Hopefully the first experience was just growing pains and poor practices that have been flushed out. I'll go here again for dinner (lol, being of a sober mind) and give it a try again sometime soon.
