My daughter and I ate lunch there August 10th. We arrived at 11am and barely avoided the masses of curious diners that always fill new restaurants when they open.
The restaurant is very cozy and tastefully decorated. It isn't just another "Sports Bar".
We ordered Frips for an appetizer which were a cross between potato chips and loaded french fries. They were undercooked and soggy, and the bacon looked more like ham. We didn't eat but maybe a 3rd of the order.
I ordered the Bacon Bomb Burger and the menu claimed that it had "Thick" sliced bacon but when the burger arrived I was stunned to find "wafer" thin bacon that was very limp and undercooked. I asked the server if they had ran out of the thick bacon and she said no, that was the regular bacon for that burger. The bun was toasted but had been left on the grill too long and was burnt around the edges. Overall, the burger was fresh, and edible. But could have been prepared better.
I ordered a soft drink and on the menu it has the drinks priced at $1.79 which I think is pretty fair considering most restaurants charge as much as $2.39 for the same thing. When we were given our check, it charged me $1.89 each for the drinks. That isn't a huge deal to me, but they should get that straightened out.
I did order the "Hand Breaded" onion rings for an extra $1.00 and when she laid the basket down, I was stunned to see 4 onion rings on the side. They didn't look "hand breaded" either...but I wasn't going to argue that point with them. They were good onion rings, just a little over priced for what you get. And they tasted like every other frozen onion ring out there.
Overall, the meal was not terrible. And given the fact that they just opened the doors earlier this week, I will for sure be back to try Joe Willy's again. As with anything, you just need to work the kinks out of something that new. Hopefully they will have the issues taken care of and I hope they do very well here in Columbus.

In an effort to be fair, I decided to eat here again to see if the issues I had the first time were problems or if they were just accidents. Today I ordered the breaded tenderloin and it was overcooked in old oil. The BBQ Nachos were okay but I asked the server if the "Melted Cheddar Cheese" was like nacho cheese sauce and she said no that it was shredded cheese. So I said fine and when they brought the nachos to the table they were covered in that cheap nasty nacho cheese sauce! OMG! I was stunned that the server didn't know the menu any better than she did.
My son ordered the Bacon Bomb and the bacon was again half cooked and not thick as the menu states. My daughter ordered the Grilled Cheese and it was nothing more than cold cream cheese on toast. Nasty. I have spent my last dollar there.
I went here recently with a friend. We decided to split our food so that we may go ahead and share more of the food. We had the A-1 burger with the fries, a carmel apple martini, and the funnel cake dessert. The martini was delish but also very sweet and potent. The A-1 burger was moist and tender, practically falling apart on the bun. I would absolutely go and get this again!! The burgers are served as a double, but you can request a single if want and take a dollar off of the price. After the delicious burger, I couldnt wait to try my dessert. The funnel cake sticks are served al la mode, which is awesome to mix the warm funnel cake with the cool ice cream.
In short I will return here again and after all of this talk I may actually go back for lunch today!
