Great food, and friendly staff every time I go.
I took my parents for the first time the other day, my Mom was a little nervous when we first pulled up, because they try to look like a biker bar, but when you get inside, it is an amazing place to eat.
I ordered a Rueben sandwich, and it is one of the best I have ever had, with just the right amount of corned-beef and sour-crout. My Husband ordered a Philly cheese steak, and he also said it was probably the best Philly he has ever had. My Dad ate every last bite of his liver and onions, even stating how hard it is to cook them right.
The Mariners game was on on the TV above us during the meal, so we were able to see them lose yet again during our dinner. Fun time, great family place.
My Dad has been here for more the a few times and he took us for a Sunday breakfast. Â He said there were places just as good but he likes the friendly waitresses. Â He was right about that, when we walked in, he had to introduce us to his regular waitress. Â Excellent small town friendly atmosphere.
I had the BBIB (Best Breakfast in Belfair), basically a scramble with ham, eggs, and potatoes. Â Not super huge like you get in some places but it was enough. My only complaint is that the potatoes should have been cooked a little more before putting them in the scramble. Â It might be better with chunked potatoes instead of hashbrowns.
Meg and Joe had a skillte for a couple of dollars more. Â It looked about the same but I think it also had bacon and sausage.
my dad had french toast and egss that was just fine.
Good food, friendly service....not a bad place to become a regular.
What a change from the last time we were there. Â The food service was right at the bottom of my comfort level. Â The only reason we did not leave was we had driven 40 minutes there to get a good hamburger. Â We enter the restaurant and the adventure started. Â Waited for 10 minutes for the server to arrive with menu's and then it was another 5 minutes before she took our order. Â Then the wait came. Â It took over 40 minutes for 3 hamburgers to arrive almost an hour after we arrived. Â A table came in after us, ordered and was severed was about done before we even got our food. Â There was one brief conversation 15 minutes into the wait our food was on the grill. Â The hamburgers were OK this time but nothing great. Â As I left I told the server it was not a good experience and she used the excuse that if was her first day back after a long layoff. Â She did offer a coupon for free food and I turned it down. Â It will be a while before we go back.
Review Source:I liked the restaurant when it first opened - but the last time I went there I was very disappointed. Â The Prime Rib was half fat, grizzle and tough. Â The dressing - that used to be gorgonzola was now a watered down "blue cheese?". Â The potatoes were boxed and cold. Â When they opened they were well above average - now they're less than mediocre. Â I can only guess that economic realities convinced them to reduce food costs - but they've gone too far.
Review Source:I was participating in a geocaching event and JR's was the place we were all going to meet up afterward. Â I was a little worried that the crowd would overwhelm the place, but as I was waiting inside, I noticed the food looked pretty good. Â A table opened up, and my buddy and I grabbed it.
Wait staff were doing a fantastic job managing the 90+ people that had come in. Â While it did take a while to get our food, they were super troopers about it, keeping the drinks coming. Â
My hamburger was great, and I loved that I could get it with cheddar cheese and a side of sweet potato fries. Â Price was reasonable, too. Â Very glad I ate there and would eat there again the next time I'm in Belfair.
Went on Tuesday for Taco Tuesday with 7 friends. Â We all ordered drinks, ate tacos and played pool afterward. Â When it was time to pay the tab, the waitress stiffed us for two extra drinks at $6.25 each!!! Â We were unable to convince her that my husband and I only ordered 5 drinks, not 7. Â Left a real bad taste for us. Â Tacos were less than average, but popcorn was fresh and free (unless you consider we paid for it by by being charged for two extra drinks we didn't order and didn't receive).
Review Source:I find it unfortunate that Diane G. had to bring the rating average down on here because I don't think she's actually been to JR's Hideaway. Â Not sure how you confuse a Denny's restaurant with a SWEET dive bar that serves excellent food, has great service and plays classic rock. Â Cheap strong drinks, very nice wait staff, great ambiance..... if you're in Belfair and looking for a good, reasonably priced meal, check this place out! Â They offer tater tots as one of the sides and they're cooked perfectly, and their fried pickles are AMAZING!!! Â We had 2 beers, 2 vodka tonics, the Philly Cheesestak sandwich, the French Dip and fried pickle appetizer, and the bill was only $36. Â Dark and cozy enough to be a dive bar, and clean enough to enjoy your time there.
Review Source:The good stuff first......Excellent food. Everyone is friendly. Everyone. The owners, bar staff, and customers are really cool. Plus the prices are very reasonable. The live music and karaoke is pretty awesome too... So why not 5 stars.....the only problem is there is no dance floor or stage so there is no where to move around when the bands start jamming. I hope they fix this so I can give this gem in Belfair the 5 stars I know they deserve!
Review Source:I recommend the philly cheesesteak or the bacon cheeseburger sliders -- with "onion straws." Restaurant seating in the front, bar + more tables in the back which hosts local music performances several evenings a week. Everyone's always friendly, and a great place to stop after riding your Harley all day.
Review Source:Average small town diner inside and out, nothing particularly fancy or grungy. Â The one waitress I have had is very nice, happy to accommodate. Â Generally average diner fare, I got the Reuben, pretty good overall by my East Coast standards, with decent corned beef, lots of kraut, OK swiss, good 1000 island, and good marble rye. Â French fries were OK, not my favorite. Â Onion rings were a big surprise, large, whole onion slices, still sweet and juicy, coated in flavorful bread crumbs; very good. Â Prices were fair for what you get, and they have a "house brew" amber ale that was tasty.
