Junction Inn

Ha ha. This place is awesome. It's like 99.9% local, filled with chain smokers and middle-aged folks who don't care if it's 5:00 anywhere.

My husband's grandparents, who come to this town every summer for a week, once insisted that the entire family go to try their hamburgers. (This was before my induction into the family.)  Don't argue with an 85-year-old! I believe them, but I still didn't try any food when my in-laws and I came here last year in my pre-yelp days. We did, however, enjoy ice-cold $2.00 beers, an authentically '80s jukebox, and SHUFFLEBOARD!  Fun times.

As far as up north dive bars go, this one is a "peach." It's extremely smokey so be sure to bring your baby.

Wow, apparently Yelp hasn't spread to Northern MI!  I can't believe that I am first for the Junction!

Where to start.  I grew up on the duck hunt knockoff videogame, super crappy pinball, shuffleboard, and greasy olive burgers at this place.

Smoking is still allowed in public places in MI (soon to change I hope) and if you don't smoke you are in the minority here.  It can get very smoky during peak bar times.

Most of the people who frequent this dive are locals, and they can get rowdy.  One of my earliest memories is a sign in the mens bathroom of a guy peeing on the floor that is circled with a line through it.

The other night we ordered Take-Out and fed 9 people for under $30.

They have a pool table, a small dance floor, and the shuffleboard table is still there.

I'm sure this place is going to be around long enough for me to take my kids there.
