My wife and I were in the Junction last night an I had the Baby Back Ribs. Â They were so tender the meat fell of the bones. Â There was alot of meat and no grissle to fight. Service by Amber was excellent and I would order the ribs again. Â I ordered the full rack which was a dollar more then the half rack, go figure.
Review Source:The bar area is massive. Â A couple of pool tables and various cocktail tables scattered about with a huge, u-shaped bar. Â I've never been here for it, but I can totally picture this place getting super crowded if the night is right.
Drink prices aren't bad. Â Burger deal was a steal: solid burger and a side for $4.99. Â Highly recommend that.
Waitstaff was nice and catered well to their regulars. Â
I would, however, recommend a good, deep clean of the bar sometime soon as there was a significant level of fruit flies hanging about. Â
It's not often I'm in El Cajon, but this would be a place to stop in again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. Â I'd be interested to try the rest of the menu.
As I stood  there in the nearly empty restaurant, (3 others at various tables) I was ignored for nearly 4 minutes, which is not a good way to start a simple breakfast.
Finally, I was seated and athough she took our order, she got 3 things wrongs, like no onions/peppers in my daugters food, no refills and she spent WAY too much time talking in the back room with the kitchen staff, it wasn't that bad. Hopefully, someone will correct their little problem in customer service. Oh yea, I still left a 25% tip, that shows that I'm not an AH even when I'm not pleased with the service.
So apparently Yelp wasn't exactly happy with my last review and deleted it haha. Everything about this place is horrible... the crowd, the slow bartenders, the lame "cops" that work at the front door on the weekends... the only good thing about this place is the free shuffleboard. I would give em negative 5 stars if I could. This place belongs in Lakeside.
Review Source:Fish taco's are a waste. Â Use to be two for $5.oo and were outstanding. Â
Now its two for $3.50, little critters, very disappointing.  Service stinks too, our waitress last Thursday thought we were there to serve her.  She really had an attitude, lacked class and hospitality manners.  Never going back, too many other great  places in town such as "The Brig" and Rocky Point  on Second street. Both have great service and food.  Too bad ,"The Junction"  use to be our favorite spot, now it's gone to hell...........
Had dinner here tonight. This was by far the worst dining experience ever!!! The food was great, the service was horrific. For starters after we were sat, instead of bringing out menus for our party she sat us than walked away. She returned 5 minutes later empty-handed asking if we wanted menus (no I am psychic....). Soon after we all ordered our meals and salads. I asked what vinigarettes were available and my waitress said they had no vinigarettes. I opted oil and vinegar than and picked at my salad than decided it to be I edible and the waitress took it away. A few minutes later I looked over at my parties salads and asked what type of dressings they had and both responded "strawberry vinigarette". Now, frustrated I ask the waitress if she can bring out a salad with vinigarette(thereby correcting her mistake) I was informed that because she already took my salad plate she could not show it to the manager and fix this (now I am pissed!) so for the next hour and a half we were waiting for our food while our waitress keeps blaming the banquet in the other room for the delay. I watch as all the other parties around us get frustrated and walk out. Finally as our discussion has shaped into going to drive thru to get burgers our food arrives. Unfortunately I have to wait further as my waitress forgot my jalapeños. After we ate our apologetic waitress offered all of us a complementary dessert for the long wait. I simply told her that I do not want a $8 piece of cheesecake free just make my $3 dinner salad right instead and again she refused. After the rest of my party walked out I requested to talk to a manager who also wouldn't make good on my salad.... All I wanted was my f***ing salad!!! They even offered to take money off the bill.... Why is it so hard to simply make my super cheap salad with vinigarette. That is all I f***ing wanted. I am still reeling with frustration. Worst $100 ever spent...
Review Source:I would give a negative if i could. My friends and i went here last weekend and were hanging out in the bar area. My friend forgot her Debit card here, called the next day they said they had it.. She went in the following day and they couldnt find it anywhere... oh yeah it's because the bartender decided he was going to take it and pay his bills with it! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Now the managers won't call her back from this place and they are avoiding her at all costs. Is this a way to treat your customers who have been ROBBED by your employee who i am sure didn't get in trouble what so ever.
If your from east county then you know word travels fast. You better believe that I will never come to this establishment again, nor will my friends, and we will make sure to pass the word around about the thieves that work here as well.
We went there with a coupon and to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered bacon wrapped blue cheese filets - a flavorful, tender treat; twice baked potatoes; mushrooms; seafood chowder-a definite yes; and wonderful spinach salad. Even the creme brule for dessert was a decent size and well prepared. Service was good. Although the atmosphere isn't high brow, that's not why we eat out. We go for delicious food and great value. With the coupon, it met and exceeded those expectations!
Review Source:"Went there on a Friday nite (8:00) for dinner, drinks & shuffleboard. Eleven of us, 24 to 60 years old and no choir boys. However, the juke box blasted out "song" after " song" of the vilest, most profane hip hop/rap music imaginable. (Not just an occasional F-bomb)
Families were getting up and leaving (some to the detached restaurant area), and adults were grimacing as the trash blared. I saw several people ask to have the music turned off, but they were met with "sorry, we didn't play it". All right, so maybe you can't turn off music that someone has paid to hear, BUT WHAT IS IT DOING ON THE JUKE BOX IN THE FIRST PLACE?? Many of our party left as a result, and we were drinking and ordering food.
If they want to turn it in to a hip-hop bar, so be it. But they'll do so at the loss of the many couples and families that would have been there spending real money.
I can't imagine the owner FOR A SECOND exposing his wife to that trash.
Poor management!
I couldn't wait to use my groupon to try the steaks at this old el cajon restaurant next to harvest ranch. The wine list is impressive and the Morgan cab did not disappoint. As for the steaks and the service, dreadful. We ordered two ribeyes (one med rare, one medium) and one filet mignon, medium rare. They were all flavorless and unseasoned. Worse, the medium ribeye was a perfect medium rare, and my filet was well done and ruined. Send filet back and got a piece of raw boot leather. The flavor was appalling. Sent it back and the ribeye. There was nothing positive about the meal except the wine. As for service, there wasn't any. I'm very disappointed.
Review Source:I ate there last night. Â I ordered NY Strip medium rare and got medium well, I sent it back and they got it right. My girlfriend orderd the girlled pork chop, on the plate were two thin cut chops (not one thick one like most good places) Â they were over done and stting on some cold apple-y goo. Â My son ordered chicken parm. Â it was a substandard plate of goo. Â The waitress was very sweet and apologetic but the process from the seating, to food arriving took so long that my girlfriend ended up sending her's back and ordering nothing. Â I wouldn't go back I expect much more for those prices.
Review Source:Good food....HORRIBLE managerial staff! Â I went with my family for dinner, the food was okay....nothing great, especially for the prices. I was charged $140 on my card instead of $40 and was never told. Â I tried to handle this with the manager, Shilo, however, the day I called she was in court and said to me, "I will leave court and be fined to figure out your problem" I am very disappointed by her way of handling the problem they caused. Â I have been calling once a week in hopes of speaking with the owner, Chris Dallo, as his employees not only fraudulently charged my card, but were extremely rude to me. Â It has been a month and a half of weekly phone calls and still no owner call back! If you visit Jamacha Junction, I highly recommend you pay in cash!
Review Source:This is a great place to have a drink, some grub and hang out. Â I've done breakfast and the bar and both have high quality food. Â I highly recomend the Chili Cheese Omelette ad Steak Bites. Â The staff and partons are all laid back and friendly and they have a decent beer selection. Â The only downfall is the sports bar needs more than 2 behind the bar. Â The place can get packed and the sercive starts to fall apart. Â I will definitely go again though. Â My frineds and I count this as a great local watering hole.
Review Source:I've only been here one time--today.
I was in a group of six who ate here today. We were seated at an appropriate sized table and the waitress promptly brought menus, told us the specials and then returned a few moments later for drink orders.
Three at the table ordered one of the lunch specials, the burger, and I ordered a chef salad. My salad came out about 10 minutes after all the others orders. Yes, the salad took longer than anything else. It was a decent salad, but very heavy on the meat and light on every thing else.
I am told the prime rib at dinner is good, so I will try again likely some day, but today was not their day.
The first time we came here, our experience wasn't good. Â OUr food took an hour to get to us. Â The waitress forgot about our order and she said there was a glitch on the computer.. she offered to take 20% off our bill. Â My husband and I said we would give this place another try.. Â this was about 3 months ago. Â
Today  was my husband's bday and we came here with our friends to celebrate.  He loves steaks.. and they were having Steak CLub Saturdays.. why not!  We got there at 6:30, didnt get any bread.. while other tables did.. Our appetizers came...in the middle of biting into the potato skins.. i found hair.  I got grossed out and told the waiter.. He said.. sorry about that... and took it to the kitchen.  We had to ask to get a basket of bread.. and the waiter said sure.. never came back with it.  My rib eye steak came.. took my first bite.. it was delicious... second bite, found hair again!  I was so mad i didnt want to eat anymore. lost my appetite!  I told the waitress and she was very apologetic, she took the plate and said she was gonna get her manager.  She came back WITHOUT the manager and offered to take 20% off of our bill.  Water refill took forever.. We felt discriminated against.. everyone around us were getting refills, asked if they were doing okay every 5 mins, while WE were ignored..
BOTTOM LINE.. I wouldnt recommend it.. don't come here!
This Review is for the Breakfast menu, I have eaten their many times and the breakfast is great, havent had dinner there yet. I would like to give a five star but the service was slow and everytime I have been there its been slow, I dont put that on the waitresses it just seems the management is not organized and it seems short handed the girls are always working hard
Review Source:This review is for their breakfast.
I had a very nice breakfast sandwich and biscuits and gravy here. I had the sandwich with the country ham. It was a good choice because the ham was not sliced deli ham, but rather a nice piece of smoked ham steak. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/o-vamxYkMXkLXRd_aBHNcg?select=cy2JT8qjZh1l_4g9mvMgXg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) It had a little grissel, but I managed to trim some of it off.
The sandwich also had a fried egg, provolone, and came with a side of hash brown all for only $5.99. I had it on some very good toasted rye. Great bargain for the size and amount of food. To top it off, it was a very good sandwich. The hash browns were good too, but a little soft, they could of been a little more crispy.
The biscuits and gravy were also very good. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/o-vamxYkMXkLXRd_aBHNcg?select=NQvc8uFX1oxCPy_v_dHdiw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) The biscuits were nice and moist. They had a nice charr on the bottom as if they places them on the griddle a while to warm up The gravy was rather interesting. It was you typical white gravy with nice buts of breakfast sausage, but the gravy had a slightly lemony after taste. A little surprise but, I liked it. The biscuit and gravy cost $3.45.
The service was a little hit and miss, but overall it was good. Nice place to have breakfast if you live in the east county.
Honestly, I would give this place 4 stars if there service was better. The service here is really bad. We have tried it many MANY times because we like the steaks. But now go somewhere that we like the food less, just to get actual service. You have to ask for waters at least 2x. Need to remind server to take a soda/liquor drink order. You will not get refills or additional drinks no matter how many times you ask or by putting soda glass at edge of table. Must ask for bread at least 2x. Then ask for butter. If you need/want anything additional....forget it. No extra dressing, no more sour cream, no water, soda, wine refills. Need another napkin or fork....too bad. Just lame service. They aren't mean or rude or nasty...just sorta....dim and incompetent. It's sad. This place could be so good...but they need employees who care.
Review Source:Folks,The Junction is a promise not delivered. The staff was friendly and efficient and the cut of stake superb, but the meal was a disappointment. The vegetables were cold, the mashed potatoes tepid and the wonderful New York steak just barely warm. It is sad that such fine ingredients were so badly served by the kitchen. If they had a better selection of beer, I would give them another chance.
Review Source:Go to the bar! This is the spot for Charger games. You get a raffle ticket for every shot or beer you have and they raffle off a jersey after the game. 1/2 price appetizers during any live game and $3 burgers til 2 pm. Great crowd and lots of tables. Theres also pool and darts for the few that dont like watching the game. Its a great bar!
The few times Ive dined in the actual restaurant I have not been impressed. The food is very good but the service is terrible. They have a nice private room for big parties but they havent been able to find the staff that can handle a big group. Our drinks were never right and some of our party got their food 45 minutes after I got my filet. Go during a game and pig out on the wings and steak bites =)
Great prime rib and fantastic prices! Loved everything with the exception of the green beans-- I suggest other steamed fresh vegetables ie- asparagus or broccoli. Â Desert was creme brule and it was was huge(more than enough to share), but wasn't quite prepared correctly-- a little lumpy.
Prime rib was by far better that other steakhouses ie-- Outback or Black Angus- so definitely give them a try.  Good service-- plenty of waitstaff clearing plates and filling tea  Plan on going back next week for breakfast!
I gave this joint two tries before writing this review. Â I also phoned the manager, and she was pretty much un-concerned with my displeasure so I will spell it out for the rest of you.
Not aknowledged upon entering the restaurant
(the hostess was too busy flirting with customers)
When we finally were seated, she just pointed to a table and said you can sit there - SHE DID NOT GIVE US ANY MENUS. Â After waiting about 10 minutes, I got up from the table and asked her for some, she brought them over and threw them on the table. Â Unbelievable!
It took over twenty minutes for the waitress (named Brenda) to say "I'll be with you in a minute"
She never brought the water we asked for
The salad was warm, and on a WARM PLATE.
When the entrees finally arrived - OVER 1 HOUR AFTER ORDERING,
She  had screwed up two of the four orders at our table.  Said the kitchen messed it up.  NO, I think SHE WROTE THE ORDER WRONG.
Then proceeded to try and switch the steaks herself at the table? Â TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL.
I am hoping to have my call returned by the manager whom I was told is named Jenna. Â I left a message today.
Don't eat here unless you want the wrong food, and want to be treated like crap.
For reasons I still can't understand I am reviewing this place again. Went twice last month for friends birthday celebrations. Ordered the fillet medium rare. Came well done. Second time ordered the burger medium rare. You guessed it......well done. The only reason I am even wasting my time is because I wanted to add a star for Jason, our server both times. Jason, you are a rockstar! 5 star service all the way. Large groups both times and everyone was taken care of. He took my food back both times and was visibly frustrated with the kitchen. Come on chefs, get it together!
Review Source:The Junction is by far my favorite restaurant in east county. Everything from the food to the service is always above and beyond. There steak is better than any of those high end steakhouses in SD. The servers are always respectful and a pleasure. I am constantly telling people how great this place is. The new owners have turned it around and taken this place to a whole new level. I highly suggest you give it a try; even if your not craving steak the entire menu is delicious!
Review Source:Came here to check out the Prime Rib special on Tuesdays.
Gotta say me & my mom had the 12 oz for around 12 bucks and It was outstanding... I mean the very best I have ever had. We also had the pasta and side salad. The pasta was good and the salad even better. Was never a prime rib fan... but I loved it. The server was really nice. I did see a lot of older people. But the food was really worth it and me and my mom shared, was worth it.
The new Junction is good. The new decor, the very pleasant and attentive waitstaff created a warm and welcoming atmosphere which set the stage for an enjoyable dinner. The pork chops were tender, juicy and entirely YUMMY! The extraordinary cinnamon apple topping which I had on the side was soooo good too! Going back for more...
Can't wait to try out the prime rib super duper special on Tuesdays or their everyday lunch special $2.99 burger and fries.
Disappointing first time here. Â Server brought out soup....but we had no spoons. Â Dinner took a very long time to come out. Â I had the spinach salad..it was good...but far from great. Â My girlfriend had the ebony chicken and said it was good..but my first time here has been so disappointing, I will probably not return.
Review Source:I was hopeful... but disappointed. Â The bar and restaurant are cleaned up but dated still. Â We heard about the new ownership so thought we'd try breakfast. Â It was okay but not really. Â I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs for $9.25 got a smidgen of gravy unfortunately I asked for more which cost $1.25 more (I wasn't warned of the additional cost), it was room temp and amounted to a healthy teaspoon. Â My food was over cooked and saturated in grease. Â I will give thumbs up on the hash browns!
The place was moderately busy, everyone was alot older than us.
Went here on a Friday night - only the bar/lounge area for Happy Hour. Had been expecting more. Â The service was a bit sorry - they had only the bartendar serve all the tables in the bar, and it was a big area. She was great though - so I'd give this more stars on service.
Atmosphere was just OK. Â Nothin to write home about - typical bar. Â
The drinks were not discounted at all - weird for Happy Hour.
The food was mediocre at best. Â I had the Shrimp
cocktail since the Shrimptini was nolonger available. Â It was OK. Â $6, so OK price, but this is East County.
I also ordered the stuffed mushrooms that were supposed to be stuffed wtih crab. OK if they were I coudn't tell; they had some pitiful slice of chese melted (barely) on top and tasted horrible.
I didn't not notice anything from the other orders in our party that would make me go back again. Â
Very mediocre overall.
I generally only eat salad so my mouth has something to do besides yammer while others are eating their salads, but for some reason I was coaxed into trying the house salad, which is greens, walnuts, strawberries and mild chunks of cheese in a strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Â This was hands-down the best salad I have ever eaten.
I went because (a) the great reviews here, and (b) where else does one go when one craves a pork chop besides a steak house? Â The pork chops (2) didn't disappoint. Â I almost didn't order them because they are served with a hot apple side, but it wasn't cloyingly sweet so I ended up enjoying it. Â The garlic mashed potatoes were better than average (mine are my benchmark, and of course I believe that mine are peerless), and the vegetables had FLAVOR. Â Yum.
Everything about my meal was perfect. Â The service was professional and efficient.
I loved everything about my first visit here, and will definitely return. Â It's more than worth going out of your way for the experience. Â Also, FYI, the dining room is much more elegant than you will expect when you pull up...
The Junction doesn't mess around. For the size of the place they have managed to squeeze in two pool tables and two dart boards, both of which I tend to dominate when I am in that area. The bartenders pour heavy, and this is one of the few places I have ever been to that carries Das Comet, a Russian liquor distilled from rocket fuel. For happy hour they serve free food from the ajoining restaurant, which ranges from a hearty beef stew to tantalizing mac n' cheese. The crowd used to be old locals and D.U.I. attornies, but lately the place has been infiltrated by rowdy 21 year old construction workers who probably voted for Bush, which kind of lames the place out.
