Had a boxty with meat and mushrooms along with a side of oyster bread stuffing. The boxty is a potato pancake that is filled with several possible fillings. The one I chose was beef and mushrooms. Another version had shrimp, crawfish, etc. The boxty was very good. The oyster bread stuffing side was equally good. I can't say that when I am hungry I think of Irish food but this was a very good meal. Kilkennys is a good place to have a beer and a good meal. Service was very good also.
Review Source:Kilkenny's is a bit kitschy, but I just got back from Ireland, and it does resemble an Irish pub--dark wood, deep tones, nick-nacks--it's just that Irish pubs don't have stuff with "Ireland" or "Irish" written all over them. Â However, the food at Kilkenny's is three times better than at any pub I tried in Ireland--there's actually green veggies like broccoli here! Â My favorite is the cedar plank salmon with the sauteed veggies and gratin potatoes. Â Not the best beer selection in town, but getting better. Â They have 3 Irish, 4 German, and 2 local craft brews (Marshalls and Coop F5) on tap.
