Kim's Karaoke Lounge

I was looking forward to coming back to Kim's b/c my first visit was so much fun!  We went on a Saturday and this visit was awful!!  My husband asked if Bud Light was on tap.  She said yes so he ordered one.  The girl brought back a Bud Light in a CAN.  When he asked her about it she says "oh it only comes in cans or bottles". If you don't know what tap means, you should be working at a bar.  We move over to the karaoke side and there was only 1 other group.  We found out right away why the place was empty on a Saturday night.  The servers were inattentive.  The song books were disgusting, dirty, and nasty!! We accidently wrote the wrong number for a song that we wanted to sing.  When the song started we tried to flag down one of the girls to no avail.  So, with mics in hand the guys started "singing" wrong song, wrong song.  The  bar tender came to us.  He showed us the paper and rudely said "YOU wrote the wrong number".  When we handed him the paper with the correct number he helped himself to a dollar that was on our table.  Ok, I know the songs cost $1 to sing, but seriously.  We were the only ones in the place.  Cut us a break!.  We left b/c we didn't feel welcomed there with the staff sweeping and cleaning while barefoot (EW!! dirty).  I was still drinking my WATER when the girl asked if she could have my cup.  I gave it to her just to get rid of her.  When we left, I asked the security guard about the wait staff and he said they were all new.  I told them they were all stupid and needed more training.  We went to another karaoke place and I think we will be going there from now on.

I don't know what happened to this place in 6 months, but IT SUCKS.

My friends and I went on Memorial Day Saturday, expecting it to be packed (as usual). Got there, & the place only had about 30 people. Since it was raining & there was graduation that night, I gave it the benefit. Let the FUN begin.....

STRIKE 1- Asked the waitress if they had Bud Light on draft, she says yeah, & brings me a can. When I said that I thought she said they had draft, she said only cans or bottles. I didn't stutter or speak in tongues, why don't you know what "draft" means?

STRIKE 2- We went over to the karaoke side (apparently now one side you can sing, the other you cannot), where my wife just wanted water. Waitress kept on hounding her if she was "done with her water". SERIOUSLY???

STRIKE 3- My friend requested a song & put down the wrong number. When we said it was the wrong song, the bartender came over (with an attitude and a THICK fresh-off-the-boat accent), pointed out we wrote the song that was playing. When we apologized & asked for the right song, he instantly took a dollar off our table and left- didn't ask, didn't say it was gonna be another dollar, just took off and ran. What a douche.

As we left, found out from Security that ALL the waitresses were brand new, & it was their 1st night. SERIOUSLY??? Who puts a brand new crew on a Saturday night, and on a long weekend???

Born & raised in Hilo, remember when it was Rosie's Boat House, been going there for YEARS, was there in September having a DAMN GOOD TIME with friends and family, and now IT SUCKS.

Better change your attitude & management, owners.

Cold beer n loads of pu-pus!! Great place to watch a game or MMA fight. Definitely more of a local scene so tourist, be nice! LOL

Remember, this is Hilo so businesses dont really give a rats ass about who you are or where youre from or how much $$$ you have.If youre cool, youre cool and theyll treat you as such. Kims is no exception...

So head to Kims, grab a cold one, enjoy the pu-pus and talk story with the locals! Itll be worth it in the end...CHEEHUU!!
