My husband and I had an excellent dinner here. Â The oven roasted goat cheese- stuffed figs with fig and red wine reduction over prosciutto were astronomically good.. Sadly, they are only available occasionally on the specials' menu. Â The almond crusted flounder with buerre blanc was delicious. Â My husband had a seafood risotto from the specials menu which he thought was exceptional. Â We returned again with our folks a couple weeks later and had equally good service and food. Â I would however recommend against having the pizza if sitting in the Ristorante. Â It wasn't fully cooked in the center, the crust just didn't do it for me. Â Overall, the pizza was the least impressive thing I tried. Â Try the specials. Â Oh and a check-in on Yelp gets you a free glass of wine with entree.
Review Source:The food at LaVolpe is excellent. I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The specials are terrific as well. One complaint I have is the service. The last 4 times I was there with either my husband or a group of friends we have been disappointed with our waiter or waitress. They are quick to take your order but after that they are not as attentive. One night in particular my husband and I were there with another couple and the men placed their drink orders and us ladies decided to share a bottle of wine. The wine and drinks were delivered to our table farily quickly but after that the men had to wait a very very long time before they were able to order another drink. It wasnt all that busy so there was really no excuse for the wait.Their second round of drinks finally came out towards the end of our meals and once our plates were cleared the waitress was at our table seconds later with dessert menus, I wish the waitress had been as attentive with our drinks as she was with pushing dessert on us. Â Some of the waitstaff should take a lesson from the lovely women who bus the tables and bring the bread and water over to the table, they are always on top of things and if you make eye contact with them they come right over unlike a certain waiter and waitress.I have had to get their attention quite a few times to ask them if they can get our waiter or watiress for us. Â I will continue to go to LaVolpe but because of the food but next time I go I am going to ask the hostess who's section they are seating us in before we are seated.
Review Source:Buckle up for a great meal! This place is excellent. The food is OUTSTANDING and the service is excellent. Great host and fantastic ambiance. Only negative, is that traditional dishes aren't on the menu. However, if you would like them just ask and they will make it for you. I had Chicken Parm. and it was the best I have ever eaten. I couldn't say enough nice things about this place.
Make reservations to be safe!
I was very surprised to see all of the high rating here, I am equally surprised when people recommend this restaurant. (many have personally) My husband and have been here twice. Once for a Saturday evening dinner, and second was for an afternoon luncheon we were invited to.  I gave it 2 stars, 1 for the Bar (small but  with a capable and pleasant bar keeper) 2nd was the service. This is not a place we would intentionally make reservations for, even though it is close. The food left much to be desired on both occasion. We did not consider this a 5 star restaurant.  We originally lived in Brooklyn a place where finding an excellent  restaurant was as easy as walking 5 blocks, or a  20 min drive.I am not a chief, but we love to eat exceptional food. One of our  rules when deciding  on a restaurant worth returning to is that is has to be better then my own cooking. Why go out to eat when you can eat better at home? We dine out at least once a week La Volpe did not make our list for fine dinning
Review Source:Warm welcoming feeling accompanied by a classy bar and kind bar staff. Â This is a great place for a glass of wine and an appetizer, Â happy hour cocktail, a romantic dinner or a family get together. Very accommodating atmosphere. Nice wines, experienced wait staff and really good food In Large enough portions to always have it again the next day! There is a pizzeria side and a restaurant side with really upscale decor. There's always a manager or owner there to introduce themselves and make sure you enjoy your experience. Consistency is key! Kudos la volpe.
Review Source:This is my favorite restaurant in ALL of the Moriches area. Hands down the best Service, Food and Espresso! Try the La Volpe Salad to start (always consistent). A mildly - light -fresh way to start your meal. Then choose from one of their daily specials or order from their extensive menu, either way you will love this hidden 'jewel' of the Moriches area. Almost forgot, bring your wallet...BUT...it is definitely worth it!
Review Source:Beautiful new restaurant in the area. Antons pizzeria gets an A+ in service in my book. They are just nice people. You can tell they enjoy working there and like their jobs. They are happy to recommend food, or help you out when you cant decide which pizza to try. A nice family friendly pizzeria.
Review Source:Can you name all the subjects of their oil paintings? If you want to eat quality italian cuisine under the gaze of Luciano Pavorotti and Sofia Loren, La Volpe is your spot. Â The pasta dishes were a highlight, we tried the asparagus gnocchi and the cavatelli norma both were fresh, light and well executed. Side dishes and salads very fresh, no complaints. Service was accommodating to the requests of our very large group (15+). Desert was a peach sorbet (inside a frozen peach) as well as cannoli, both very good. Overall, a real solid experience, on the cusp of excellence. Epilogue a few days later I went to a party catered by these same folks, did a great job, especially eggplant rollatini. The servers were super quick to pick up empty plates and bottles and keep the area clean. Extremely solid organization.
Review Source:Used to love this place till tonight. The service was awful 1 1/2 hrs to get our dinner with no apologys or offers of a drink or anything. The waiter argued with us about several problems. The food was way over cooked or extremely salty and then when we told the owner Roberto he never apologized not seem to even acknowledge the issue. Used to be a must visit now it's a must not.
Review Source:This is one of the highlights in the area. Â The decor is beautiful -- which is often times just as important to me as the food. In this case, the food is on par with the overall environment. Â I'm not a huge pasta fan, but havent tried a pasta dish at La Volpe that I didn't love. Â Salads are also high on my list. Â And the La Pera drink off the cocktail menu is a must try.
I also wanted to note that during my most recent visit, the manager stopped and chatted with my table for several minutes and even provided a complimentary pouring of wine. Â A nice touch.
I've been to LaVolpe on numerous occasions always leaving satisfied and thrilled to have such a lovely place so close to home. Â When entering the building you are transported to another place and time. The wrought iron and stucco decor makes you feel like you're dining is Tuscany. Â The larger than life oil paintings featuring stars of stage and screen set your senses reeling. Â Then to the amazing menu. Â You will not find Chicken parm and meatballs and spaghetti on this menu (go next door to Anton's for that) . Â Original creations adorn the specials menu and delicious entrees such as stuffed chicken dijonaise are my good old standbys on the regular menu. Â Quiet atmosphere, soft lighting, an attentive wait staff and fabulous food make us always come back for more.
Review Source:La Volpe is, for me, a special place that is in my opinion the best restaurant within 30 miles of Manorville (where I live) without question. Â I have eaten here dozens of times and have yet to be disappointed. Â Interested in some great wines by the glass, stop by and see AJ and he will guide you in the right direction. Â Need a night out for a great dinner, let Roberto take care of everything. Â One of my favorite attributes is they continue to change. Â Frank keeps the menu fresh based on what's available. Â Several times, I have forgone the menu to let Frank decide for me. Â Never left unsatisified. Â Good people and I feel fortunate that they are closeby...Keep up the good work guys!!
Review Source:Hands down he best food and best Resturant on the south shore. The staff from Roberto, Frank and AJ treat you like they have known you for years and the specials like seafood risotto and lamb osobuco are amazing. You CAN bring your own wine just call ahead and ask if you have a special bottle you want to bring and Roberto will be glad to accommodate your request although with their wine list you don't need to bring one. You don't go to LaVolpe for chicken parmesan you go for real authentic old world homemade Italian food, if chicken Parmesan is your idea of "Italian " food then go to olive garden. Anton's does make a great chicken parm next door along with fantastic wood fire pizza and pastas. So nice to have a great spot so close to home!
Review Source:WOW. Â This really is as good as it gets. Â A month ago we tried and really liked Pasta Pasta after much ado, however after going to La Volpe on Saturday night I will never go anywhere else for a nice Italian dinner when I am out on the island. Â (I still will go to Carlo's for pizza). Â Everything was just phenomenal and as I just finished off my leftovers for lunch it reminded me to write an outstanding review for this place. Â
I had the chicken with the mustard sauce and it was amazing. Â The mustard was not too overpowering and the side of pasta was some of the best I have ever had. Â They were nice and let me put vodka sauce on it. Â
Lobster raviolis were eaten by two in my party and they both commented that they were the best they have ever had. Â
If I were to search high and low for negatives of this place it would be, we were close to doors and it was quite drafty. Â Also, this is a standard issue I have with most restaurants, but $14 for 2 small crab cakes is a bit much. Â However, the eggplant app was huge and the artichokes were to die for and worth every cent.
All around, two thumbs up and cant wait to go again.
Prices were reasonable, for all the apps, wine, desserts and entrees the bill was only $200 for five people, you cant beat that. Â
Oh yeah, the chocolate molten cake was outstanding.
Firstly, you cannot bring your own wine, it's Center Moriches for god's sake.
You can even bring a great bottle to Bobby Vann's or Georgica, the two nicest places in the Hamptons. Â The Chicken Parm was ordinary, with the sauce having a weird after taste. Â The service was ok. Â I've never been to Olive Garden, but would
assume it's the same thing. Â Italia across the street is better you just won't have art
prints of famous italians
Found out about this place 2 years ago, used to go to Carlos and michaelangelo's, but they always disappionted. This place never will!
FOOD: Antons- pizza and the other take out food is great. Delicious grama slices and garlic knots are best I've ever had if you get em when their fresh!
La Voulpe- great authentic italian meals. Very classy and romantic decor, dim lights and soft music. Dress appropriately!
SERVICE- average, friendly staff at both antons and la voulpe
I have been living in the area for over ten years and described the Moriches as a culinary wastleand. La Volpe is helping to change that. Three visits and three memorable meals. The food is well prepared and tastefully presented. The wine selection is appropriate and has offered a few selections I would not have chosen but were worthy. The atmosphere is inviting and the srvice is attentive and friendly. No credit cards and the absence of angel hair pasta was the only complaints from my fellow diners.
Review Source:The staff treats you like family and the food is delicious (ALL but the almond-crusted flounder - far too sweet), but they only take cash. They do have an ATM, but you'll be charged to take out a twenty for two slices. Get a credit card machine and ditch the flounder plate, and you guys will be perfect - bellissimo!
Review Source:My wife and I tried this place for the first time recently and were very pleasantly surprised. Offered a half price glass of wine while we waited was the first delight. The bartender knew his Italian wine regions better than anyone. The decor matches the name and the food was very very good. I expected the typical long island Italian meal of very heavy oily food. This was the opposite. It was more cuisine and more what I would expect at Po' in Greenwhich Village. Great wine selection and the staff was very attentive. The biggest surprise about this place is that it is located in center moriches and not the hamptons. If you know your food, try this place. If you are looking for cheap pasta, go to the olive garden.
Review Source:Went last Thursday night at 7pm only to find it packed. Â We ate at the bar and had great conversation with the bartender. Â The mussell appertizer special was delecious and with a pizza that was plently for my wife and I. Â Happy hour started at 7 so drinks were discounted. The food is reasonably priced and the staff is courtious and attentive, what more can you ask for especiall in Center Moriches where a good restaurant is hard to find. Â Don't ask to eat outside as the dinning is on the main road and not appetizing .
Review Source:I thought we were in a recession??? Â Not at La Volpe, at least....
We came for a late dinner around 8:30pm and still had to wait for a table. Â The place was packed!!! Â No wonder, the food was worth the wait!!! Â Fantastic service from the hostess, bartender, waiter and bus persons. Â
Loved watching the "Mama" and her kids come out after cooking all night to enjoy a meal for themselves. Â :)
It was worth the 6hr flight from LAX to eat here!
Just had a great lunch at La Volpe. We tried the pizza and a panini. The fresh mozzarella pizza was delicious. They have a sit down restaurant and a pizza place which is where we ate. Great place to stop if you're on your way out to the Hamptons and don't want to wait. The staff was very friendly as well.
Review Source:La Volpe is a gem! Â Let's face it, there are no really nice, really good Italian restaurants in the Hamptons. Â La Volpe is just around the corner in Center Moriches and is deeeeelicious! Not to mention the decor is great!!! The prices are pretty moderate, and if you go for lunch, you get dinner sized portions at lunch prices!! Get the Bamba for dessert mmmm mmm mmm. Their takeout pizza is yummy as well!
Worth a trip, leave the hustle and bustle of the Hamptons and get some great italian!
