Really? I havent reviewed Lucky 13 yet?

Time to buy a bigger belt and bib! Honestly, I hadn't much interest in trying Lucky 13 for a long time. I heard some okay things about it, but I never had a real reason. Then I was told by a few people that they have some killer burgers. In my mind, "killer burgers" is pretty much as good as "free money". So naturally I had to give it a shot.
Walked in and didn't really receive a warm welcome. They took our IDs and went back to texting on their phone. We sat down and our waitress didn't really seem to care we were there. Wasn't very happy at this point.
After waiting about half an hour, we got our food. Or should I say mountain of amazingness. The selection wasn't huge, but everything was unique. I actually enjoyed the smaller menu because it made it a lot easier to choose... also, it made me think they really perfect the items that are on there. I got a bacon cheeseburger (boring, I know) and fried pickles. You know when you finish half of your food and you don't want to finish it, because it's so good? I wanted to do this after the first bite. It was cooked perfectly.
Second time I went, we had great service. Completely different experience and same great food.
I think I just got a weird day. I've still had some less than perfect service, but the food is out of this world.

I have been to Lucky 13 many times mostly with large groups that I host.  However, after our experience last night, not only will I not visit this restaurant/bar again, I will make sure everyone I know hears my experience.  I invited my entire team for dinner before a Bees baseball game.  We had no problem getting a table for 12 by arriving a few minutes early as they don't accept reservations.  It all started with our server, Brittany; a nice enough girl, but not cut out for the service industry.  Ordering fried pickles and onion rings for appetizers took 30 minutes.  Our hamburgers took an almost additional 45 minutes (putting our orders in before everyone arrived/was allow in too)!  You would think by arriving at Lucky 13 by 5:30, one could make a 7:00 start at the game which is a  1/2 block away.  Oh no, not if you go to Lucky 13.  The worst part of the experience was the extreme nature of the door staff.  When I arrived with two of my team members, none were asked for identification.  Two other team members arrived; one was asked the other walked right in.  The remaining team members were all asked to show ID...because as they quoted, "It's the law."  Totally get when a restaurant/bar requests this.  However, we had two special guests joining us from the UK who were turned away because they didn't have their passports.  They returned to the hotel and upon returning, had another unpleasant experience.  The illiterate door dude scoured their passports unable to find what he needed and proceeded to write down their information in a notebook.  Really?  Talk about a good welcome to their first restaurant experience in the US.  So if you are from Utah, you are OK because the illiterate door people can simply scan the license for the state database.  If you don't, be prepared to be demeaned and embarrassed especially if you are using a passport.  And maybe the staff should read Utah Code Title 32B and show where it says everyone MUST be ID' d...unbelievable.  Regarding the ridiculous amount of time it took to get our food, they blamed it on the pregame crowd.  Last time I had a group of 14...in and out in 30 minutes.  With service like this, 13 won't be too lucky for the future of the restaurant.  Oh, and remember to ask for your burger to be cooked...unless you like receiving it raw.

Best burgers in the Salt Lake Valley and some pretty good fries too. I have tried most of the burgers on the menu and the Bacon Stinky Cheese Burger and the Ring of Fire (I take off the habaneros because they are a bit too much for my taste). Pretty much any of their burgers with bacon on it are delicious

I give this place a 4 because the wait staff is usually slow.  I keep going back because of the awesome bar food.  They have the best garlic rosemary frys I've ever had....I crave them!!!! Their burger buns are perfectly chewy and moist and don't fall apart.   If when you go there and you decide to get the ring of fire burger just be warned that when that burger exits the next day it gives new meaning to Ring Of Fire...OUCH!!!!!

Parking was non-existent.  Burger was pretty good, but not amazing.  Beer was ok.  I was freezing my butt off in their outdoor seating area because the wind was so high.  I cannot really recommend unless a parking solution is found.

Best Burger in town and conveniently located right near Bees stadium, we make it a point to go there before every baseball game and after for a beer.

By far the best burger in town. Good service, great atmosphere. It is one of those places that you can go alone to watch a game or meet with a  group of people. The parking sometimes sucks, but hey the burger is worth it.

I found Lucky Thirteen after being bored out of my mind at a bees game. The bar is just across the street from the stadium. It has great ambiance that seems to cater to the biker community. Motor bikes, not those fixed geared hippies. Good place to watch a game. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pool and shuffle board. Great burgers. If you like spicy food try the ring of fire. A burger topped with sauteed habaneros and jalapenos. I almost served myself a beer after diving into this thing. The bacon is awesome

    AMAZING BURGERS.
    AMAZING FRIES.

What else do you want?? Ohhhh you want a challege? you get a challenge... actually 2, and at least to many... quite impossible to accomplish.

Only thing they need to fix is their parking situation. And maybe the wait time... maybe get one more server?

Some things you should understand about your looks once you are in the process of eating some of the incredible items here:
    - The rosemary garlic fries are indeed delicious, but you wont be attractive to anyone with that intense garlic breath.
    - The burgers are huge and tasty, but they are so big that you won't feel attractive feeling all full and bloated.

    Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that if you are going to Lucky 13 as you would to any other bar to maybe meet people or get "LUCKY", chances are that won't happen if you had one of their burgers or fries. But man, oh man... you'll love every bite of that miraculous creation.  WORTH IT.

    A SLC Gem for sure.

Wow. I believe I just had the best burger I've ever had. I got their bacon cheeseburger and beer battered onion rings, which were both phenomenal! I feel like I don't normally "rave" about places, but Lucky 13 is definitely deserving of it. There were drawbacks that other reviewers have mentioned, such as the slow service, but for the quality of the food, I'd say that it's worth it.

I went with some buddies who were in the know about Lucky 13 after a Bees game, but now after reading everyone's reviews, I'm wishing I had tried out the Celestial burger. But I'll get that next time because there will definitely be a next time, I'll probably be bringing my wife up here in the not too distant future.

Wonderful burgers. Super-good wraps! Great atmosphere, even if it does get cramped during weekly pub quiz. The servers are very nice and accommodating!

Almost 2 years later, my wife and I decided to give the 13 a second chance on a Saturday afternoon.
I'm pleased to say that this time things went so much better!  Service was timely, the menu was up-to-date, and those great burgers that I'd liked so much hadn't changed.  While I found that I prefer the Stinky Cheese burger to the Celestial burger (which may say something about me as a person, really) my wife tried the Pig Pen with a Bison patty- delicious for a mere $2 more.  Fried pickles are great, and the patio was lovely after the brief rainstorm in the morning.
It looks like the management of this little place is constantly looking for ways to make things better.  Hopefully it's a trend.  I'll be back to the Lucky 13 in the future- hopefully it won't be 18 months between visits this time.

The best hamburger that I have eaten, and I'm not just saying that because they won best burger at the World Food Championships.  The burger is always cooked perfectly every time I have eaten here, but the bun is what really makes it.

The fries are also pretty awesome and the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers are amazing.  Pretty good beer selection, with PBR pounders if you want to save some money.  The bloody mary is also one of the best around and only $3 on Sundays.

Now that I live in the neighborhood, I'll be walking over here quite often.

I have mixed emotions about this place, i want to like it but i dont think they like me.  I don't have a motorcycle or have tattoo sleeves and I shower so I think service is really slow for me.  I was wondering why our burgers were taking so long so i stuck my head around the corner behind the bar and literally saw a small stove top, dirtier then shit along where the food preperations happened by a skinny cook looking like he just finished or could have been smoking while cooking (picture Ruth form Ruth's diner).  Our burgers were well done, dry, and after seeing what I had, I was not too excited.  Service is super slow but again I'm not a "regular" customer I guess so It's to be expected.  I will stick to Bambara or Copper Onion for a insane hamburger that you need a whole roll of napkins, they are so juicy!

Best Burger in Utah, hands down! Unreal fried pickles, I could eat a 100 of these things. Favorite burger would be the Pig Pen, baby brother of the Big Benny Burger.  Great Whiskey selection and Beer selection. Give this place a shot.

There are two things that will bring me back to this place- 1. the bacon! and 2. the fried pickles.  Both were the best I've ever had.  For real.

The hamburger was great, but I'm not sure that it lives up to the "Best of Salt Lake" billing.  But, perhaps that's because I ordered the burger with the peanut butter.  Intriguing, right?  Peanut butter + burger doesn't quite compliment each other the way I was hoping it would.  So, next time, I'll try one of their other creatively named burgers.

And, I'll order a basket of fried pickles with that incredible dipping sauce!

Stumbled upon this gem after a quick "best burger" search in SLC. I walked in the door and instantly new this place was where I needed to be. Beer was flowing like wine, music was blasting some good rock 'n roll. I ordered the bacon stinky cheeseburger with Cajun fries my first trip there and it was utterly delicious. Homemade bun and excellent, perfectly cooked, beefy patty. Second night I was in SLC and came back and tries the buffalo chicken wrap. It was spicy, full of blue cheese and delicious as well. Beer selection is as good as I guess a bar in SLC could offer. Both nights we got Rosie as our waitress and she was awesome. Super friendly and remembered us from the prior night. If you are in SLC you need to visit this place, you will not regret it.

What better day to pay an initial visit to Lucky 13 than on April 13, 2013?  Had to finally see what all the hype is about.  We were not disappointed.

We ordered the bacon cheeseburger, the garlic fries and a house salad.  I had a Lev Lager to tide me over during the short wait.  Our server was very attentive and the delivery of our food was expedient.  I would like to add that the atmosphere was very conducive to a nice weekend lunch.  If you like a lively bar, complete with waitresses earing Slayer hoodies and whatever other comfy clothes they want to throw on, this place is for you.

The burger was great.  I hesitated to add condiments until having a bite of the burger, and I'm glad I did.  The burger was moist, pink in the middle and very savory, but not overly salty.  The cheddar cheese and delicious applewood smoked bacon really added to the taste experience.  The burger was also dressed with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions, and the bun was a fluffy Stoneground bakery creation.  Nice combo.  I never bothered to add any ketchup or mustard.

The fries were also delicious, but a little less exciting.  The garlic paste was really intense and very pleasant.  The fries were fresh cut and thick.  The only complaint I would make of the food is that the fries weren't as crisp and firm as I would have hoped, but the garlic paste really helped me through this slight disappointment.  The house salad, with balsamic dressing, was fresh and substantial.  The balsamic dressing is really nice.

Overall, this was a very good experience.  We'll be back.  The only trick is finding a place to park, Lucky 13 is just about the busiest bar in town and the parking is limited.  Hopefully they will do something about that!

This is by far my favorite place to hang out/bar in Salt Lake, the burgers here are worth killing for.  I really like the celeste burger, I also recently tried the nutter butter burger.  I know that peanut butter on a burger sounds scary, and I never thought I would try it either but trust me, GET IT.  The heat from the burger turns the peanut butter into almost a syrup-like consistency and it is a mind-blowing, mouth-watering explosion of flavor.  The fries are good and they have some different options.

The drinks here are good, several locals on tap and a pretty unique selection of bottled beers.  I had a bloody mary here the other day and the bartender had the audacity to put bacon in it, I nearly wept and if it wasn't for the bartop between us I would've hugged him.

I've met one of the owners and he is a really cool guy, which is a big thing for me.  The staff is also lots of good people, I've had a great experience every time I've been there.  They also have a lot of TV's and the atmosphere is good on gamedays of about every type.

    Pros

Fantastic food, good beers, cool atmosphere, proximity to Trax and Bee's stadium, great staff, shuffleboard, awesome place to watch sports, list goes on and on and on...

    Cons

Can get really packed during Bee's games, parking sucks (but the Trax parking lot is across the street), I have work during the week so I can't go everyday

Love this place! The burgers are great and did not disappoint. Can't remember specific names but my favorite were the hot jalapeño one and the peanut butter burger. If you love peanut butter, you have to try this burger! Never thought to put pb in my burgers but will definitely try that at home.

The service is friendly and the beer flows cheaply. It's a nice little place to sit back and relax. There are also pool tables inside but I haven't been one to play.

Ooh...they won #1 best burger in the world at Las Vegas.Another reason I went there is to stalk a friend. Didn't you know my side hobby is stalking you? hehe...

We ordered Breath Enhancer with Cajun fries and Celestial Burger with Rosemary garlic fries. Yep, you guys are right! the Rosemary garlic fries are so much better than the Cajun fries. Except the fries are big softer...than...I...expected... Oh well, they were busy. My boyfriend and I both agreed this is one of best tasty burger.

This is 21 up bar restaurant. Sorry kids! Hehe...

Now I believe my boyfriend got all his coworkers hooked on their burgers. Haha...

Bad service on a Friday at lunch time. The place had a decent amount of people but  wasn't full and yet it took 45min for the appetizer to show up, and another 45 minutes for the burger. Totaling 1 1/2 hours to get a hamburger! Good thing it was a lunch meeting and we had a lot to go through, otherwise I'd had walked out on the order.

The food was good, but the awful service ruined it for me. I know I won't be going back.

A small bar located across the street from a Trax station and Bee stadium on 1300S, which could possibly be where they got their names from.  Parking can be problem here especially during a baseball game or a crowded night, and the parking lot across the street can provide safer alternative compared to dark alley street parking.

Burger is probably the biggest thing here, if you don't get one, then you are definitely missing out.  They have a Lucky 13 challenge here for those of you that can stomach huge portions.  Or just get the $17 Big Benny or Lucky 13 Burger.  The Ring of Fire is always gonna be my favorite burger here.  Nothing can go wrong with Habanero in it and adding Jalapenos just made things better, the level of hotness gave me a mouthful of warm fuzzy feeling.  Cajun fries went well as a side item.  Then add a beer to wash everything down.

In western culture, 13 can be interpreted as Unlucky 13, but in most Asian cultures, 13 does really mean "Lucky 13".  In this case, I believe they are the lucky version since our team won the game on the night we went.

    Amazing... everything is amazing!!!

I've visited the joint many times...but Saturday  night was the best! A group of us came in dressed in tuxedos and I was in a formal dress... the place was packed and it was pretty much standing room only...as we were deciding if we wanted to stay or go, we were quickly escorted to a table large enough for our group. We were served quickly and had a great time! The beer was cheap, the food delicious and the atmosphere...as aways...awesome!!!

Is this the best burger in Utah?  Probably.  The Crown Burger is cheaper and almost as good, but it's nothing fancy.  The "wagyu" burger at Copper Onion is a little more sophisticated, but costs nearly twice as much as an L13 cheeseburger.  A double-double is pretty tasty but it's more or less a take it or leave it offer, and you have to be out in the sticks for In-N-Out to be convenient.

What's the big draw about Lucky 13's burgers?  They're big.  They're juicy.  They're flavorful.  And they feature Lucky 13's house-smoked bacon.  This is, without any hesitation, the best bacon at any restaurant in Utah.  And if you're not a big fan of pork, don't worry.  One of my favorite burgers at L13 is the Ol' Man, and it's bacon-free.

Salt Lake County also has a pretty rich tradition of garlic burgers, if only because of the Cotton Bottom and the Busy Bee.  Guess who hasn't been back to either of these sketchy dive bars since Lucky 13 opened?  This guy.  The Breath Enhancer will ward off vampires or any romantic attention for a week (particularly if you get the rosemary-garlic fries to round things out), but good lord is it delicious.

If you're not into giant burgers, the regular sandwiches are pretty tasty, too.  L13's sides are pretty amazing, too, with some of the best onion rings and fried pickles available in northern Utah.

Finally, being a bar, Lucky 13 has a pretty solid selection of drinks, including lots of whisk[e]ys and a big swath of Uinta beers on tap.  One of the tastiest cocktails here is the Bloody Mary, which you will keep ordering while you eat brunch on Saturday or Sunday.

The only downfall?  The service.  When things get busy here, which they inevitably do during the dinner rush hours, tables are hard to come by.  A speedy, attentive server is harder to find.  The actual bartenders are on their game, but the waitstaff needs some serious incentive to up their game.

Bottom line: Come here for the absurdly amazing burgers, pair yours with any of the fried sides--you literally can't choose a wrong one--and have a couple of drinks.  But don't expect to be in and out in 45 minutes.

Going to Lucky 13 is like looking forward to a date with a guy you met on Grindr -you read his entire profile, come up with playful nicknames for him, and printout 8X10s of his profile picture. You're so excited and then you meet him only to realize he uses too much product in his hair and wears Affliction.

Lucky 13 claims to have the best burger in the world, and maybe it is if you love Gluten and Carbs. I'll take a vacation to Carb City every fortnight, but this was too much. Too much bread, no toasted bun, too much sodium, too many high BMI biker guys - I didn't sign up for a bear cruise!

If you wanna stay lean, avoid lucky 13!

Lucky 13 has my favorite burger in the city--the Celestial. It very likely has my favorite bacon in the city too. Great little divey place to have some cheap beers before Bees games or satisfy your craving for their burgers. Because you will crave them.

Varied crowd. Nice dim lighting. Pool table or two. Restrooms are usually passable. I think they stock City Weeklys. Only criticisms are that the patio's kind of ugly and the garlic fries have been undercooked most times I've tried them.

All in all though, earnest fan.

I had heard it's the best burger in SLC and from what I have tried here it is.   I would love to know what's better.

I had the bacon, blue cheese burger and it was outstanding.  Cajun fries were great also.

Prices are very inexpensive for what you get.

Anybody thinking of trying this spot, do it.

Side note.....the ice tea was really tasty too.

I LOVED Lucky 13!  I'm a huge fan of hamburgers, and this place did not disappoint.

After reading several positive reviews on Yelp, my friend and I ventured over here after work a couple of Sundays ago.  The service was so-so, but the atmosphere was fun and bar-ry so it was no big deal.  We just had more time to chat.

There was quite a long wait for our food, and by the time it got there we were both a little tipsy, thanks to the vast quantities of beer we were able to purchase at a relatively economical price.  When it did arrive, however, we feasted our eyes upon the most delicious looking hamburgers I've ever seen in real life.  Then we proceeded to feast our stomachs, and it was pure bliss.

I got the Celestial Burger, sans barbecue sauce, and I would definitely recommend.  Also, I upgraded to onion rings.  While I definitely received fewer rings than my friend did fries, they were worth taking  the quantitative hit. Very tasty.  Plus, the burger was so enormous that I didn't need any extra food.

In conclusion, you should come here.  Bring your friends.  I will definitely be returning.

    OH. MY. GOD.

You know how I know jesus wasn't a Jew? Because this bacon was divine, and the lord and savior of mankind would not make such a perfect meat against his religion WILLINGLY.

I walked in with a buddy after hearing my co-worker talk about how good the bacon was and that they smoke their own. I doubted him. Never again will I doubt him about food.

The bar was friendly, and the service was busy, but responsive for a busy friday night.  The Guinness was perfect, and I had a couple.

The Onion Rings are worth trying, and their fry sauce is pretty tasty.

Note: When I went in you had to be 21+ so I don't know if this is the case all the time, but you might want to check prior to showing up.

(Or go get your kids a crappy burger from McDonalds down the street, and lock them in the car while you enjoy your dinner would work as well.)

Best burgers in Salt Lake hands down. And for the price? Can't beat it. The service was great, the food was great, only down side was the kitchen closed at 11 pm for some weird reason?? Anyways they have a burger challenge which is almost repulsive how much meat you have to meat. It's like a Benny burger I think? And a regular burger. Can you say heart attack? Mind you this is all from memory but I had a bacon barbeque burger can't remember the exact name but it was delicious. And messy as can be.

I probably killed a couple trees in napkins, not gonna lie. This hidden gem just off 1300 South is a must if you're ever craving a burger. Though it is a bar, so young'ns can't enjoy the beefy awesomeness. They use high quality meat and it definitely reflects in the burgers. Anyone in Salt Lake has to try Lucky 13 at least once in their lives or they haven't lived.

My favorite burger in Salt Lake. Seriously, get the nut butter burger with jalapenos.

Also, their brunch is pretty good. Gives Blue Plate Diner a run for their money, if only for the bloody mary.

They smoke their bacon in-house. So, if you're looking for something with bacon, this is the place to go.

On a return trip, we got two more burgers and a couple of steins. The burgers did not fail, and really hit the spot. I got the The Baby Benny ($10.00, Smoked Bacon, Grilled Black Forest Ham, Sauteed Onions, Cheddar and Swiss Cheese and Lucky 13 Sauce) and the wife-to-be got the Fungus Amongus ($9.00, Mushrooms sauteed in red wine and a touch of garlic, swiss cheese). Both were on par with our previous visit and did not disappoint.

Word to the wise: your money goes much further with fries than onion rings, even if they are orgasmic.

    We both left VERY full.

The burgers are excellent at Lucky 13. About the best I've ever had and my friends concur. I also love the fries: Cajun are a fave, garlic is great, and they also do a mean onion ring.
Lucky 13 is a full bar with a very good beer selection with local brews and some unique beers as well. If you like IPA's go for the Lagunitas namesake.
Parking is a problem here. The place gets slammed. And the lot is always full. If there is a baseball game forget it.
The only problem with L13 is how slow it is. The service is good and the kitchen really kicks out some serious food, but they can't keep pace with the capacity. So plan on a leisurely and long lunch. If I could afford the time, I'd be here weekly. It's that good. ~m

I haven't given out 5 stars in awhile. I also haven't had a burger this good...ever. I put off going here because I was expecting a dive bar greasy shame burger. Not the case...

Buns from a local bakery, house-smoked bacon (the bacon adds a lot of flavor), and very creative options. I most recently had the nut butter: peanut butter + bacon + burger. It was as good as it sounds.

Good beer priced well also. $5 for Fin du Monde, and pretty much any other beer on the menu. Fried pickles...
