Went there for lunch today. Â I wanted to order the calamari, since other diners had raved about it. Â Then I saw the salmon come out, and had to try that. Â It was salmon over yukon gold mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus and a white wine caper sauce. Â OMG amazing! Â Though the salmon filet was thin, it was cooked perfectly (I consider perfect salmon something you have to just touch with a fork and it flakes). Â The sauce and veggies were also good. Â I finished with the butterscotch rum cake. Â OMG again! Â It came with small pieces of kiwi, raspberries and blueberries, as well as different flavored sauces on the side. Â Divine. Â My new favorite lunch place!
Review Source:I could possibly comment on both the restaurant itself and it's bar upstairs. Â But then again I really don't remember that night when we were partying... Â I think I fell down the stairs... The dinner, however, was a bit surprising since I was so used to being there during the late night drinking binges. Â I got a coupon from http://restaurant.com $25 off and headed over with my main squeeze.
We got the three course fixed meals for $35 (so theoretically $70- plus tax, I was assuming something about the price of $50 something dollars) but boy was I wrong. Â Okay, let me talk about their food:
Fried Calamari: Delicious, possibly the best I've ever had.
Mango Crab Cakes: Sweet and good (only if you like mango)
Lamb Steak (heavily seasoned, felt like I was eating a rendition of Thanksgiving all over again)
Mascovey Duck (Juicy and very flavorful)
Creme Brule (yum)
Chocolate slab cake (yum yum)
Okay, I had the duck and my what euphoric experience did I go through. Â The texture was way better than any duck that I've bought at the asian market! Â hah. Â Like I stated previously, the Lamb Steak was a bit over seasoned. Â Wasn't really much to write home about. Â When they served us our main course, it was obvious that we were in some type up up scale possibly the highest end restaurant of Suisun City. Â
The service was a bit slow. Â I noticed that there was only one waitress on the floor and although there wasn't a lot of customers, when people came in to be seated they were standing at the front door for an awkward amount of time.
So we get the bill see, and wow did my eyes pop out. Â Okay, I have no problemo in spending the bling bling... but holy cow! Â 18% gratuity? Â Uh.. I thought the menu said gratuity added for parties over 6?? Â Whateves... The bill came out around $75 (what the cost of what the dinner woulda been w/o the greedy gratuity).
I liked the food... but to spend so much on that meal... it wasn't worth it. Â I'll save my $75 and head out to the city for a fancy dinner.
Can I give 2.5 stars? Came here with my husband, sat downstairs and only one other couple eating who left halfway through our dinner. Drinks were brought fast and the calamari is very good. We were a bit annoyed that, while we know she was trying to be attentive and had A LOT of time on her hands since it was so slow, the waitress kinda came over a lot and at one point tried to make small talk and we were having a pretty important conversation, so that was a bit annoying. The thing, though, that killed us is that we shared an entree, had 3 beers between the 2 of us, 2 side salads and got a $4 dessert and our bill was $97. I mean, $11/each for side salads that I could have gotten for $2-4 anywhere else? It just was really ridiculous and yes, we checked to make sure things were right but the steak wasn't to die for, not like we've had it at other expensive places. If we had known we'd be spending $22 on salad, $27 on a slightly overcooked steak with shrimp that had a weird, funny earwax taste to it that we didn't eat... it just wasn't worth it.
