I loved it here! Beautiful environment, the wine is good, the music was great! I felt like I was on vacation and I would definitely go back!

We used a groupon and the pictures looked amazing.
We pulled up and noticed it was a golf course that wasn't mentioned before.
Not what we expected. The music was loud and amateurish and the place was really loud.  We kept our hopes up.
Took forever to get a spot to just order wine,
No food outside just wine and a cooler to get your own water, another minus.
The wine wasn't good at all. Better to just go to the San Antonio winery and get the bad wine tasting  for free.
Finished our groupon and decided to try the food at the restaraunt.
We ordered a beer, and three small plates.
Beer was stone and that was good.
Small plates were awful. The truffle fries came in a red basket with plastic container of ketchup.  And the short ribs were three small balls on a plate.
The grilled cheese was something way worse than a college kid would make in their dorm with an iron.
We waited over 20 minutes for the disappointing plates and for a refill on water.
We will never come here again.
We actually sent the food back and walked out.
    Not worth anyone's time.
They are better places that are more beautiful with better service, drinks and just as cheap closer where ever you are.
    Beware...
Oh and no non alcoholic drinks are served outside and with the number of cops that are out as you leave the place you have to have a designated driver. But there will be nothing for them to drink.
Really one of the worst places

We were so disappointed, when we went there. Thought is was going to be a wine bar or winery. It turned out it was on a golf course, so be prepared. nice quiet pretty setting. We had a groupon and the promotion had expired, but not the voucher part. The manager was  NOT accommodating and no one was there. It was a Wed afternoon. Limited hours that they are open for wine tasting. Would not recommend this place, unless you were already there playing golf.

Great place to chill and have a few bottles of wine while listening to the outdoor entertainment. Lovely gardens since it right off the golf course.

The staff James and Jordan were awesome. They tuned my friends bachelorette party into something special just by entertaining us. James is a riot. Never laughed so much. And the wine we tasted was delicious too!!! James took pictures with us and really saved the day by being such a cool funny guy. I'll be back.

We came here on Memorial Day and enjoyed some live music and some wine tastings. The grounds are pretty and green (it is overlooking a golf course) and the atmosphere is really laid back and relaxing.  The servers were friendly and gave us some valuable information about the area and upcoming events.

Visiting here really makes you feel like you're getting out of town but I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the drive from LA went.  Not bad at all for a weekend getaway!  Also, I didn't realize this before coming here but they are affliated with Malibu Wines just down the street, and this is actually an off-site tasting room for that winery.  This is especially great because if you're a member, you can do tastings at both of these locations.

We didn't visit the restaurant because we wanted to go get some fresh seafood afterwards, but a lot of other people were ordering food.

Another place to add to the list for weekend staycations!

I had a reservation to come here with my family on Mother's Day (today). It was booked and confirmed on open table. I called earlier today and was told that they were unfortunately overbooked and would have to cancel my reservation.

I was excited to check this place out, but will never go here now because of how unprofessional they were with my reservation. It's Mother's Day, and now we are scrambling to find a place to go for lunch.

We got a groupon to check out this place and I think it was worth it overall. It is about an hours drive from west LA. It was a hot Sunday when we came up and we thought it would be nice to check this place out. It's a nice property that overlooks a golf course and the mountains. There are a lot of bees/bugs/insects around and at one point I thought I was going to be eaten alive. They have nice tables set up with live music from 2-4pm on weekends. I love live music and this was a nice treat. The tastings themselves were OK. The Semler wine tasting is the more expensive of the two and did not have any white wines to try which was kind of disappointing since it was a hot day. Also, there is terrible service on the grounds so we couldn't even load our groupon well (print it out before you come!). We also tried the truffle fries which were kidn of overpriced at $7, but good nonetheless.

In general, I think the Groupon made it a good value but I probably won't come back again and pay regular prices. I will have to check out Malibu Wines next!

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Very serene.

However, they no longer allow outside food, so no more picnics.

Wow were we disappointed! After making reservations for 2 pm thinking we were going to have a table waiting for us, we get there and we are told to fend for ourselves and pick whatever table is available. Now of course all of the tables with shade were taken so we had to sit in the blazing sun. We asked for an umbrella and were told there were none left... a restaurant like this should have an umbrella for every table outdoors. After we sat at our table for 20 minutes without a single server approaching us. I finally got up and chased one down...long story short we waited forever for our food and only received it because we asked where it was. Don't get me wrong the scenery is beautiful and the live music is definitely a bonus but the service was TERRIBLE!

This place is a little like walking into the SNL "Californians" skit: Spanish guitar, sparkling wine, blue skies, etc.

Getting here is EXACTLY like walking into that skit.

Depending on where you're coming from you can take the 10 to PCH, and make a right on Kanan Dume Road, a sharp left on Mulholland, a slight left on Encinal Canyon. Or you can take the 10 to the 405 to the 101.

I did both, and from (and to) West LA it took an hour. The tasting itself was not extraordinary, but the bottle of rose we shared after on the majestic grounds made the long-ass trip worth it. Like totally.

We celebrated our friend's birthday with a nice wine tasting at Malibu and Vine.  If you are familiar with the Malibu Winery down the street, you will already know the wines.  They have a great area outside with tables and you can order food.  On the weekends they have live music in the afternoon and otherwise they play a great mix of music on the overhead speakers.  Wish my birthday wasn't in November, I may have to celebrate my 1/2 birthday this year!

Another winery has opened! It's right on the golf course and has many different wines to taste. We came there almost at the end of closing, but still had a chance to sample a few wines. Theres a great outdoor area and they deliver food from the restaurant so you don't have to bring your own! I can't wait to bring my friends here over the summer and spend a whole day here!

A bird stole a whole package of cheese from us here. A freaking bird. You don't have to watch out for the people when you leave your belongings, but watch out for the damn birds. That has nothing to do with my rating, but I was amused by it. I may have tried to chase it a little.

Came here last weekend with a Groupon. I've been to Malibu Wines a few times and LOVE it.... this is their sister tasting room and I was excited to try it out. Like other reviewers say, it's hidden in the mountains and perfect for when you want to feel like you've left LA... without really leaving. The outdoor tasting area and tables, golf course in the background, and overhead string lights are incredibly serene and picturesque. It would be a beautiful wedding location.

The service wasn't nearly as friendly as what we've experienced at Malibu Wines. We told the server we had a Groupon, and she pretty much gave us the cold shoulder during our tasting. She didn't explain any of the wines, only really asking us "What are you guys on now?" or coming over and pouring without any words. When the bar got slammed, she asked another guy to give us our next pour, and he described it in great detail. He didn't know we were some of those Groupon people.

We also noticed that the Yelp check-in offer was "Truffles and port for $5." After drinking and eating, we went back to the bar. The same server, who looked annoyed by us, took out a plate, dropped two small truffles on it, and then asked her companion to open a bottle of port for us while she helped other guests. He began to pour liberally, until she noticed and told him, "No, one ounce only. Wait, two ounces."

Saying that in front of us was just extra tacky and cheap looking. And that isn't a good deal at all. As most of the tastings were much less than $5, it really wasn't worth it. I understand that it's a deal and an added bonus, but please just be honest about it, people. "One truffle and a sample of port" would have been more accurate.

    Other observations:

    - Great, versatile live band that everyone really enjoyed. Come in the early afternoon for the best experience, because they left around 4.
    - Unlike Malibu Wines, you can order food from the restaurant here, or you can bring a picnic. Just no alcohol.
    - Free parking lot! At the other place, you're stuck with valet only.
    - The crowd seemed a little more seemingly affluent and mellow than MW. MW was more lively, with more people bringing larger groups, large picnics, and ordering more wine. This was more calm. We were probably the only people who brought our own food.

Overall, although I was disappointed by the service, this is a great place to spend an afternoon without having to go too far.

I was invited to spend a Sunday afternoon at Malibu and Vine via a friend who received Groupons for this place. We mistakenly arrived at Malibu Wines, which is about 2 miles south of here... but luckily, since they are sister wineries, we were able to board a free shuttle van to get here. Good to know if you want to do a short winery hopping!

Both locations are pretty similar. Both located within the hills of Malibu canyon. Malibu and Vine is much roomier and has a more mellow crowd. Plenty of tables throughout and grassy areas to lay out. There was a musician singing covers and playing his guitar which provided a relaxing atmosphere. All in all, Malibu and Vine is a fun, easy and perfectly lazy way to spend a Sunday! The best part is that you get to bring your own food (anything except alcohol is welcomed) and just sit back, snack and sip. There are a variety of wines to choose from and all the ones we tasted were excellent.

Also good to know is that they DO serve food and beer since they're located at a golf course with it's own restaurant- but it's a lot more fun to pack your own picnic!

I treated my sister to a wine tasting at Malibu and Vine with a groupon deal (25 for 4 tastes for 2, the glasses, and a bottle of wine) on  recent Saturday afternoon.  (Normally each taste is between two or three dollars).

The location is down the street from the much more crowded Malibu family wines, but the vibe is similar. Easy parking in the lot. Great views of the mountains and golf course. After our tasting, we did what quite a few others were doing -- we grabbed a bottle and had lunch.  Both wraps we ordered were good, the pulled pork and grilled peppers (about 12 bucks each).  We were there just a bit too early for the BBQ lunch they were setting up -- the tri tip sandwiches smelled great -- something to try next time.  As we left, the live music was just starting. Overall, a great afternoon.

Disappointed.  I give it two stars only because the atmosphere and live music was nice...otherwise it'd get none.

I bought a groupon deal for 2 people at $35 which was supposedly worth $70. However, I calculated the prices and since each glass that we had only usually costs 3 bucks per taste that comes out to 24 dollars.  I highly doubt that the 2 souvenir glasses and wine bottle make up for the remaining 46 bucks. Not worth it.

As if that were not enough, my sister (whom I took there as part of her gift for her 21st birthday) and I were completely turned off by the treatment we received.  First, no one came up to help us at the bar right away...instead, the bartenders just proceeded to go on as if we were not there until one of them (a poorly dressed Jesus lookalike with a sweatband) decided he'd do his job.  He barely gave us a description of what he poured and as soon as he was done he swiftly went to go do something else.  So, after we tasted the first glass we were left waiting for our next pour.  Finally, he decided he'd do his job again and gave it to us...but that was the last we saw of him until another person (blonde hair/green eyes stoutly girl), came up to help us for our last two.  Mind you, this was after we had again been waiting and wondering what the heck was going on.  Anyways, the young lady who helped us seemed to be a little better, but she failed to give us a description at all of what she had just given us.  On top of that, I caught a glimpse of her buttcrack when she turned away to pick something off the floor (oy vey!!).  When time came for us to receive our check (apparently groupon doesn't charge tax so they had to charge us 3 bucks [not that big of a deal]) she also left us hanging.  At one point she even blatantly looked at us and didn't bother asking us if we were ready.  Luckily, another guy appeared (a better dressed, slender built guy with green/blue eyes) to help, since he noticed us standing there dumbfounded, and closed us out.  Needless to say, when the time came to finally choose which one we wanted a bottle of we took it and quickly found somewhere else to eat. Not that we wouldn't have done that anyway...looked like everything was served on paper plates!

Overall, NOT a good experience...I was hoping to make this special for my sister and was completely dismayed.

My family recently became members of this winery and I have to say I am impressed.  James has always provided great service every time we have gone and the atmosphere is great.  Live music on the weekends and beautiful scenery to enjoy.  Would definitely recommend this winery to all.

Their sister winery down the street is always too busy and crowded.  This is definitely the place to go.

Decided to drop by for wine tasting at 6pm on a Saturday. Surprise, surprise, wine tasting ends at 5:30. Just as luck would have it, there was a special event that night @ Malibu and Vine so we grabbed a bottle and settled in under some heat lamps for a free comedy show. Great time, we didn't get to sample all the wines as I would have liked but all the more reason to come back! Wonderful setting, great for a romantic evening out or evening a group outing. Looking forward to coming back during daylight hours to continue honing my skills as a wino.

Malibu and Vine this weekend was great - the weather was perfect as well. The staff was very friendly and the wine and seating area are perfectly maintained. Views of the golf course and mountains are all around. To accompany the wine - they havea  great menu of small plates - get the truffle fries.. they are amazing. The little pizzitas are good but small (hence the itas part). We will be back

Loved this place! We went up there for the sips and giggles comedy show/ugly sweater party for the holidays.  Great time! Comedy was hilarious, fabulous wine, great outdoor setting and snacks available if you're looking for something to munch on.

    Definitely recommend!

    Thanksgiving meal review:

Ordered their Thanksgiving-to-go package for 4 for a little friendsgiving in LA.  We had planned to do it pot luck style but this worked out greatly and WAY better!

    Items included:
    Pumpkin soup
Spinach salad with dried cranberries, candied walnuts, and goat cheese (all came in separate containers)
    Sliced turkey breast
    Boneless dark meat
    Stuffing
    Gravy
    Yams
    Green Beans
    Mashed Potatoes
    Grilled squash
    A WHOLE pecan pie
    5 pieces of pumpkin cheesecake
    All of this for $100!!!

This serving package of 4 yielded us 2 meals each!  My personal favorite was the salad!  One of us picked up the food on Wednesday and we simply reheated the food in the oven on Thanksgiving day.  Came with instructions on how to heat the food and some items came in different containers as necessary.

If I were to do another small Thanksgiving around the town, I would definitely do this again.

Great place tucked in the Canyons- secluded by lovely Mountain views. This place is also a golf course .  Very nice place for banquets- as there was a wedding party there taking pictures when we arrived and they had the place to themselves. It's a great place to stop in for  wine, beer and food.  We purchased the Conjeo Deals and got the option of beer or wine with 4 small plates.
We choose a Cab wine and for our smalls plates we got
1.) Crab Cakes- my favorite- with two sauces and both tasty.
2.) Meat and Cheese plate-  Brie and goat being my favorite and to off set that flavor with almonds was perfect.
3.) Tuna Tartar was good - but not my fav
4.) Duck Confetti - very tasty
    Also got 3  truffles  :)

Definitely worth checking out if your in the area doing wine tastings at the other vineyards in the canyons.  The only reason it loses a star- they didn't have that many wines to choose from we were told the vineyard is separate from the restaurant.   We were given 4 wine options.   This is a great place to come and relax and if you can sit on the patio it's even better- but make reservations in advance to sit outside.

Also has a bar area- with TV screen.

Getting hungry for dinner, we asked the people at Malibu Wines if they had any food. They said they recently opened a restaurant called Malibu & Vine a few miles down the road.

We decided to give it a try.

It was fantastic. Not that crowded. On a golf course near a clubhouse. Beautiful wine garden next door.

The waitress said it has been open for around a year. We sat on the patio outside where there was a wedding reception occurring on our left. Just an extra touch to the already breathtaking view of the hills and vineyards.

The food, on top of it all, was amazing. We had a few of the small plates -- pizza and tomato and burrata grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was amazing. The burrata was prepared in some herbs which definitely added a wonderful flavor. The pizza was not a flatbread -- so more of a thick, doughy bread, topped with some cheese and vegetables.

For dessert, we had the blueberry and lavender creme brulee. At first bite, I thought it was enough, but the more I dug in, the more I liked it. A fresh, citrus-y taste that was not too heavy and perfect for a dessert.

With our bill came two decadent chocolate truffles. The perfect ending to a perfect dinner.

An Easter Sunday family outing from Malibu sent us their way from other reviews on Yelp. I called around 5 asking if it was necessary to have a reservation for dinner an hour later. The receptionist said no, but took our name anyway.

This restaurant is a part of the Malibu Country Club and as we discovered quickly, is literally in the middle of the Santa Monica National Mountains. Not an easy or quick trek if you're in a rush. The major plus is of course the very remoteness that makes it a trek to begin with.

We arrive at quarter to 6pm and there is no one on the course and only one couple sitting on the otherwise unattended patio. Once inside we find a well appointed dining room. Casual attire feels right especially considering we were the only party there.

It should be mentioned early on that the main dining room and patio overlook the golf course and the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains. Majorly scenic and breathtaking.

Both servers were quite friendly and allowed us to take our time with the menu. Very nice wine selection and a well-balanced menu that focuses on small plates with about 10 main course options ranging from Mahi Mahi to a buffalo burger to pasta.

Our family of four shared the tomato & burrata grilled cheese appetizer with the homemade Mac n cheese. Both were delicious and perfect for four. Next was a good though not exceptional Caesar salad. The entrees we ordered were the chicken piccata, the hanger steak, and the buffalo burger. The hanger steak was easily the best. Incredibly tender, the only issue is that it isn't a large portion, so they leave you wanting more. The piccata was untraditional though still tasty and the buffalo burger topped with goat cheese was equally delicious. Great sweet potato fries.

Dessert... S'mores crem brûlée. So good. So, so, good. And the server kindly brought some chocolate truffles free of charge simply because... Super cool, and super good.

The only thing to consider is that on a weekend night the place was practically empty. In their defense, it was Easter. But I suspect the remote location probably plays a role in keeping the public away on many nights.  Depending on your personal tastes, this can be a good or bad thing.

Overall, we were very happy with our off-the-beaten-path selection. Good service, modern decor, and great food.

Gorgeous place to enjoy a glass of wine!

We came here on a beautiful sunny day after exploring the mountains of Malibu. The wine bar is hidden within the country club - look for the signs to point you in the right direction! The location is in a canyon surrounded by beautiful mountains. Its one of those places that you can't believe is so close to LA because you feel like you are on vacation!

We ordered the artisan cheese and meat platter and had a wine tasting flight before deciding on a glass of one of the local Malibu wines. Everything was delicious. We took a spot at one of the tables and enjoyed the view! Its very quiet and peaceful.

Come on a beautiful day and enjoy the scenery!

Scouted this place for a future event.  Very large and well manicured estate.  I enjoyed the main part where you can just get tastings if you wanted to have glass of wine and relax.  I'm a car guy and I definitely loved the old vehicles parked on the grass.  They even have an old airstream converted into a bar.

    I'll definitely be back here.

Time your arrival so you get to take in the view, it's what really makes this restaurant special. After the sun sets the big, beautiful windows are basically inky black.

Wine bar: I was really digging the only-in-the-know feel to this tasting counter. All the servers were personable. I can't say that I would return solely for the wine offerings but it would be the perfect spot to escape to for a relaxing afternoon trip with adventurous friends. (Hey man, that curvy road to get there freaks me out a bit.) My pick, King of the Mountain Cuvee.

Restaurant review: We got to chat with the owner and the chef. Chef Matt said he keeps staples on hand to whip up vegetarian dishes upon request so we decided to indulge in some small plates at the bar. I was really looking forward to the quinoa with veggies. It was nice and hearty, but a bit too oily for my taste. The veg quesadilla was the surprise winner, loaded up with roasted vegetables it was tasty and plenty for two people to share a generous snack. The glass of zin I started out with was a dud, but the bartender made a suggestion and switched it out for a another red which was much more to my liking. This is on a golf course so there is a full bar for those not into vino.

Prices were fair, and the service was friendly all around. Their newsletter had a great sounding recipe for cuvee brownies (sweet geebus!!) and during the summer they have movie screenings. I don't see myself coming here often but when a trip to P-Robles isn't in the cards, this could be an alternative for a spontaneous vino fix.

    It's beautiful.

Sloping green hills and perfectly pruned trees overlook the wide bar. Helpful bartenders serve ounces and glasses of wine to your liking. Take your glass to the nearest barrel-bar-top or umbrella covered barrel-table top and take in the amazing canyon scene.

The Saturday we went, a baby shower had taken up half the grassy section. No worries though - even with an event, regular patrons are allowed to mingle onto the grass and unreserved areas.

Highly recommend the cheese and charcuterie plate. Its crispy baguettes accompany prosciutto, salami and two hefty portions of crumbled blue and mild gouda. Sliced apples, dried cranberries and raw almonds round it out.

The service is sweet and view even better. Parking is street all along the long lane leading to and passing the country club. Entrance to the wine bar is from the left, outside the club. There's also an adjacent restaurant.

I missed the Yelp Elite event, but I wanted to check this place out anyway, and I'm so glad I did. It's hidden in the Malibu mountains, and you might find yourself asking, "Am I going the right way?," but trust the directions on the website, follow the Malibu and Vine signs once you get on Encinal Canyon Road, and you'll soon arrive at the Malibu Golf Club where this restaurant and outdoor wine bar are located. There are no signs (yet), but after you turn into the Malibu Golf Club, you'll see a building on your right with an adjacent parking lot. Yes, park there! It's free. Walk toward the building if you're here for the restaurant, or follow the path around to the back, and you'll find the outdoor wine bar.

    Wine Bar review:
By some fluke, my friend and I were the ONLY ones there on a Saturday afternoon. The 2 bartenders were great though and very knowledgeable about the wines (local wines from Semler and Saddleback). Prices are very reasonable: $3/taste, $8-12/glass, or $20+/bottle. There's a limited food menu if you want to order some snacks with your tasting. We had the grilled cheese sandwich/sliders - very tasty, but rather small so it's a good snack. If you're hungry though, definitely check out dinner at the restaurant. There's also live music every weekend. Check out the website for events.

    Restaurant review:
My friend and I tried the prix fiixe menu, $35/person for 3 courses. All the ingredients are fresh and local, so call ahead to see what the menu for the day is. On this particular day, we had:

1st course: I had the summer corn, clam, and crab chowder, while my friend had the mixed green salad. The chowder was amazing!! I don't like heavy soups, but this chowder didn't taste too rich, yet it was still creamy. The raw corn added a nice sweetness and crunch to the soup. Delicious!

2nd course: We both had the salmon on quinoa - whoa, the size of the salmon probably met my protein requirement for the day. It was perfectly cooked, as was the quinoa. I hate mushy quinoa.

3rd course: My friend had the strawberry bread pudding, and I had the chocolate brownie. Both came with vanilla ice cream. The strawberry bread pudding was so unique - strawberries were in every bite. The brownie was very rich and decadent. Who doesn't love chocolate? We both thought the ice cream was just ok - it seemed too frozen and didn't have a creamy texture that I like in ice cream.

The service was excellent, and the chef came out to talk with us and the other diners near the end of our meal. He was really genuine and talked about how excited he was to be able to get fresh ingredients from the farmers markets and local farms. Overall, I really enjoyed the wine and dinner. The setting is beautiful. It's a bit of a drive, but well worth it. I'm excited to see what the chef has in store for Fall and Winter.

Tip: If you buy a bottle of wine at the wine bar, you can open it at the restaurant with your dinner without a corkage fee.

Well I'd have to start off by saying that the high ratings are due largely in part to the Elite event and my review is based off an actual experience that I bought a daily deal for.

Tucked in the middle of the canyon it is easy to find but far from civilization.

When you find "Malibu and Vine" you are greeted by 3 buildings that all look exactly the same with no signs pointing you in the right direction. We drove all the way to the end, hoping for a sign, and then parked in a lot. We walked up to the first entrance and luckily that was the "entrance" for Malibu and Vine. If we had parked sooner we would have definitely been lost.

When you walk in there is no one to greet you. We felt uncomfortable and did not know where to go. Around the corner was a bar with a bartender serving wine to some well dressed ladies whose husbands were obviously golfing. They were flirting with the bartender like crazy!

After standing around for a couple minutes, looking like lost deers in the woods, still no one helped us. I finally found a girl and told her we had a daily deal. She said we each were entitled to a wine flight and one cheese/meat plate. We had a choice of 2 different wine flights and noting that one was $1 more we chose that one (trying to get the best deal obviously).

Wines were good. Nothing special. Meat/cheese board was good. Nothing special. You sit at tables outdoors, however there is no waiter service.

The scenery is nice. The drive there is a better view. You are just overlooking a little of the golf green but it was still nice.

Here is where my biggest problem comes into play: Our daily deal was $35 and was listed as a total value of $70, with COMPLIMENTARY wine glasses and wine openers. The wine flight was $12 each and the cheese board was $12... for a total of $36! WHAT THE HECK! We actually only saved $1! The wine glasses and wine opener cannot be included in total value because they are complimentary and by the way, they were 2 wine glasses, wrapped in napkins and those wine openers that you can get at any restaurant for free.

Overall, I really hate not getting a "bang for my buck", especially when it was completely advertised falsely. I would never go back here. It is too far of a drive and they obviously are ripping people off all the time.

Finding Malibu & Vine was a bit of a challenge, being up in the Malibu mountains. Thankfully, a friend was driving so I just got to enjoy the scenic route!

My friend, Andrew R., a Yelp elite, brought us to a Yelp party held at this location. It was a beautiful drive to northern Malibu, up in the mountains. It was actually quite misty and cold while we were there, but I found this a nice change of pace from the heat wave in Hollywood.

While I know Malibu & Vine is a golf club and has a restaurant, the party was simply held at the venue so this is more about the location than anything else.

The event was realaxed and simple, setup essentially on the green near their outdoor bar. There were several stations setup for wine tastings, food pairings and contests. There was also a small stone stage where a jazz trio was playing.

I'm pretty sure the club provided the food, and most of it was great. There was a wide range of options, to go with the wines, ranging from crab cake sliders to meat and cheese platters to short ribs. The variety was nice, and the portions were large enough to fill you up but not so large so that you couldn't try everything at least once.

The size of the area was perfect, and the little bit of the indoors (the restroom) I saw was nice and clean, albeit dark.

Based on this experience alone I'd say Malibu & Vine is a relaxing, romantic getaway for dinner, or a nice hidden gem for a day of golf. The great winery up the road is just an additional perk!

Who knew that tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains was this gorgeous (country club? restaurant?) erm, not quite sure what you'd call it, but I'm positive of the fact that its a golf course with some killer views and food, so we'll stick with that.

I had the pleasure of visiting this venue for an event and couldn't help but hear wedding bells in my future... yikes, my poor boyfriend is never going to hear the end of it!  I want to get married here, dang it!  I can just picture it now, and its SO gorgeous... my future wedding at Malibu and Vine that is...

    *sigh*

    back to reality...

Lovely palm tree lined entrance, charming event space on the lawn, out door bar, and inside space as well if it gets chilly.  The fog was inching in on us the day I went, but being outside was still do-able in a frilly barely there top.  Staff and food was top notch. Wine was lovely. Potential for beautiful photos.  Forget golfing, all I can think about when it comes to this space is puttin a ring on it!

I definitely intend on suggesting Malibu and Vine for my next dinner date with the bf... show him the beautiful mountain views, sip some yummy wine, and maybe drop a few hints here and there...

What can I say, I like to multi-task!

Beautiful! A wonderful addition to my list of potential event venues.

The servers are helpful and friendly. I asked one of the servers where the restroom was and she walked me there coz "I might get lost"... and she was pregnant! I felt so bad. But that's the type of "extra mile" they would go to to optimize your experience.

Not that it needs that much help. Some might be put off by the "out of the way-ness" of the venue but my husband and I were not. The long windy road was fun, scenic and a great transition from "civilization" to "rustic luxury."

If you take the Westlake Exit from the Ventura Fwy to get here, you will actually see the winery where Malibu Family Winery get their wine from. Super cool.

The listed address is for a golf course and the restaurant is a jewel in the middle of this emerald oasis. I don't golf sorry, so the restaurant's the jewel.

Had a piece of a beautifully done medium steak, liver pate on crostini, caprese salad, cheese platter, grilled cheese sandwich, melon/tomato gazpacho, and melon salad. They were ALL great!!!!! Thank you Chef Zubrod.

The "Family" from the Malibu Family Wines that supply the wine was here and they couldn't be warmer and friendlier.

The garden is beautiful and have these "wine barrel" tables that were awesome! I wouldn't mind having a garden with this layout as it is perfect for parties.

Speaking of parties, I'm already in talks with my sisters in law about holding a wine tasting bridal shower here. I can't wait!!!!!

Although the view of the surrounding hills is nice, the dining room here is nothing special.

However our party of four were all very impressed with the food, which was well prepared and seemed to use very high quality ingredients. It's not innovative food but excellent comfort food, much of it sourced from local farms, down to the blue cheese used in my salad.

I had a ribeye steak made with beef from Brandt Farms, and it was perfectly cooked. I would have been happy with it at any steak house in the country, so it was definitely better than expected coming from a golf club kitchen.

The service was very friendly and the chef came out to say hello.

Full disclosure: a good friend of mine works here.

If only I lived in LA, I think I would be here often, but alas, I do not. I came here for a baby shower. When I walked in to their outdoor wine area, my first thought was "wow, this would be amazing for just about any event!" I guess that this is the problem with planning a wedding. It's hard to get out of that mentality.

First stop was their beautiful wine bar. It's outside and overlooks their outdoor patio and the golf course. It's so quiet and relaxing. I could see myself just sitting there all day. The winemakers were really friendly and happy to talk to you about their wines for however long you could stand it. I thought it was odd that they didn't have wine tasting flights, like tasting 3 white wines, but rather you pay per tasting ($3). I guess you could put that together yourself, but you can tell that here, the point really is to buy a glass or bottle of wine. Then again, why wouldn't you?

One of my favorite things was that they have live music Saturdays and Sundays from 4 - 6pm. Just picture it: a lazy Sunday afternoon, sitting with a glass (ehem... bottle) of wine in the sun, listening to a musician play for you.

Although I didn't get to have dinner here, I got to have a few bites. I had some crab cakes and a really good grilled cheese with tomatoes, which were my favorite. As simple as it was, it was delicious. I really hope to come back here for dinner sometime.

All in all, I think this is an amazing place to come and relax. I could see this being a great location for a party or even a wedding. Granted, you have to drive windy roads to get there, but once you get there, you'll feel that it was worth it.The landscape is beautiful, people friendly and food and wine is good. What else could you ask for?

So as a few of the other reviews mention, Malibu and Vine is tucked deep within the Santa Monica Mountains off of Encinal Canyon. Being a Malibu native, it doesn't seem to out of the way for me at all, just far enough away to get lost in your surroundings for a couple hours.

It's located at the Malibu Golf Course so after your game, stop by for some samplings of the Malibu Family Wines. They have a varietal for every palate and the setting couldn't be more picturesque with views of the golf course and the tall mountains as a backdrop.

I could imagine a birthday or a wedding here. It's the perfect environment to celebrate and let loose and relax.

Driving there on the windy canyon road you wonder where you are going. You follow the signs along the way.  You pass Malibu Winery tasting room.   Then all of the a sudden you come across the entrance to the Malibu Golf Club.  Turn in and you are passing some greens and the club house.  Back near the parking lot there is a side entrance into Malibu & Vine, the tasting area.

Full set of wines under the Saddlebrook and Semler labels.  You can buy a taste ($3), a glass ($10-$12), or a bottle ($20+).  The deal is the bottle for $20.  Ask and they will tell you everything there is to know about the wines, the winery, the grounds, etc.  So nice.

The grounds are gorgeous.  Plenty of tables and umbrellas overlooking a golf green.

There is food, but we didn't try.  We also saw flyers advertising a grilled cheese tasting and pairing, but it was during the week and no way we could get there in time.

Saturdays during the summer there is live music in the late afternoons.

Takes credit cards.  Dress is on the casual but nicer side - don't look like you just rolled off the beach.

I will definitely go back as it was so relaxing there.
