The perfect little corner bar and the right kind of Irish pub rolled into one place. Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks, Magners on tap, as well as all of your standard domestics. Better-than-average food which is made on the premises, by Johnny Mac himself (Pasties, sandwiches, soups, pasta, seafood, etc.). No live music, which is a sticking point with me (If I want to see a band, I'll go to a concert). Three dart boards for those that brought their own darts. Never a cover at the door, unless it's a fundraiser for the Saint Patrick's day parade comittee or some other cause. Seriously, stop with all of the fake Irish bars (Killarney's, Dublin Sqaure, etc.) and go to Johnny Mac's for a pint.
Review Source:Johnny Mac's is a real small Irish pub in a somewhat sketchy part of Trenton known as "The Burg", short for the Chambersburg section of town. It used to be 90% Italian but there has been a mass exodus by the Italians to neighboring Hamilton Twp.. But Johnny Mac's is a great bar and the real deal as far as being an authentic Irish Pub, you'll swear you're in County Claire. My buddy Toot and I have decided that this is where we'll be every St. Patrick's Day to really celebrate in true Irish fashion. There's Irish music in the air and Irish lasses tending bar. It's OK other times of the year too, but no place better to be on 3/17! A few shots of Jamison's with a Guiness chaser and you'll soon be seein the "wee people"! At least we did. Don't order an IRA Car Bomb here though as they probably won't see the humor in that. The prices are "inexpensive" and they have a limited number of really cool dark green "Johnny Mac's" t-shirts for $10 a pop. We love this place!.
