Came here for happy hour and I was impress with their beer selection. They were able to let me sample some of them that they were offerring so I can choose the right one. I ended up drinking the Curious Traveler and it was such a yummy beer. They also offer a beer flight where you can choose 4 - 5 ounce beers so you can sample them.
We sat at the bar and had a few appetizers. All the food are reasonable priced and they looked really good. We ordered the sesame calamari, lobster roll, pizza, wings, edamme, and dragon roll. Everyone was pleased and everything tasted very good.
I'll keep this one short and simple, this place was horrible. Met some friends for beers, as they had a pretty good craft beer list with some winter warmers. Was drinking $7 pints of porter, when the server brought me my last beer in a much smaller plastic cup. What's going on here I inquired, still $7 for these? "Yup, the bartenders pour them in these cups when it gets busy." $7 for a Dixie cup of craft beer, after drinking them in glass pints all night, strike one. My wife had ordered a cup of coffee as she was the DD, love her! When she asked for a second cup, she was told they didn't have any more because the restaurant was closed and the coffee comes from the restaurant. What?? A bar with no coffee, connected to a closed restaurant with lots of coffee on the shelves - buy an airpot! Strike two. And here's the kicker of them all. While in the bathroom, the cook walks in and takes a piss and then walks right back out. Are you kidding me? Check please, strike 3 and you're out.
My friend and I are chefs who have worked in the industry since teenagers, and neither of us have ever had an experience like this. Who's running this place?
Minglewood Tavern is the casual bar of Latitude 43. Â I'm not entirely sure why a casual dining spot needs to have an even more casual dining area attached. Â However, that's not what bothers me, what irks me is that they don't offer the full Latitude menu--you're limited to sushi, a handful of pizzas, and some grill items. Â If you're the same restaurant, you should at least have the basic entrees, especially if your in a spot where tourists happen to wander. Â I came by this spot on the way back from Rockport looking for a good plate of fish and chips. Â Latitude 43 was closed for a private function so I figured this would be just as good since they share a kitchen. Â The beer selection was pretty expansive, so finding something to drink with my order was no problem at all, but I was much less impressed with the actual fish and chips. Â Apparently the fish and chips at Lat 43 are different, so I can't comment on their quality. Â Served on a wooden plank I got some colossal cut fries and four deep-fried rectangles of fish. Â The batter was flavorless and encased the fish like carbonite, but the fries were decent enough. Â An hour later I found myself with what was probably my worst upset stomach to date, though I couldn't be sure it from from the food, lest I go back and try it again. Â I doubt that's going to happen.
Review Source:Minglewood Tavern is one of my favorite local spots. The pub's atmosphere is warm, the decor's rustic and unique, and the servers are friendly and efficient.
The blacked chicken cobb salad is sensational, and I would also recommend the fire grilled steak tips. Their sushi boat is great for sharing with friends!
Brian also has a special 'beach' drink that is so yummy!
If you want great food and good service, with lots of fun, Minglewood is for you! I would highly recommend to any tourist or new local :)
So let's be honest, we all judge a restaurant by how it feels/looks so not knowing what to expect, when I walked in it was clear this was a typical laid back, super casual pub and had an ok atmosphere. Â But I had a groupon voucher that I really wanted to use and a friend with me who was totally game. WOW, so glad I stayed. Â We shared the blackened chicken over greens salad with a mustard vinaigrette - my only regret is that I don't have the recipe. We then each ordered our own calzones - mine was the BBQ chicken and my friend had the marguerita pizza calzone. Both of them could not only feed 4-5 people, but there were amazing both in the bread and fillings - totally flavorful and truly delish! Our server could not have been nicer or attentive - it may not have the view, but I thoroughly enjoyed this "side dish" to Lat. 43. And the prices, honestly can't beat it -great value!!. I'd sooo go back.
Review Source:Minglewood Tavern Really Is Great
They are really hitting it on all cylinders with great specials every night of the week, a great drink menu, one of my favorites on a hot day is a cranberry margarita concoction that one of the best bartenders in town Brian Eastman makes
The wood fired pizzas are excellent and the best salad in town the blackened chicken cobb, just bursting with flavor.
(Minglewood also has outstanding crispy on the outside/fluffy on the inside hand cut French fries).
Here's a review with pictures I did on my blog-

This is a fun place to visit on a Friday or Saturday night. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable and they often have live bands. The food was good and the prices were definitely reasonable. It's a good place for a date or to go with a group of friends. Recommended if you're in the area!
Review Source:The princess and I made a day trip to the oldest sea port in the US ( go figure huh? ) and stopped at this delightful pub for a lunch and the game.
This place was great. A large beer and funky drink collection to start made our afternoon. She had a mason jar concoction and I had sipped some of the craft brews. Delicious apps ( the truffle fries served on what I swear was a cricket bat ) followed up by our entrees ( Steak and cheese along with the spicy pineapple pizza ) filled the bellies and keep us hydrated. Comfortable seating, great tunes (mix of rock and reggae), friendly staff and fair pricing made this meal worth it.
If youre in the area and hungry or thirsty, make this a priority stop. Who knows? Maybe we'll see you there as we will definately return.
Came here for some brews and oysters. We were eating an early dinner so we had to restrain ourselves from ordering anything else. The guys next to us had the steak tips and a sky high burger. Both arrived on slabs of butcher block. The steak tips looked and smelled fantastic. The burger looked juicy and had all the fixings. I had to angle my chair in the other direction to keep myself from starring and drooling. We will definitely be back for our own tips and burgers!
Great beer selection too!
My son and I went there yesterday hoping to get some good sushi. I know, I know what were we thinking. Â We placed our order and in less than 5 minutes the platter was in front of us - never a good sign, clearly indicating that the maki was premade.
The baked scallop roll was inedible; mushy, fishy and cover in a creamy yellow sauce. What? "Nori's Roll" was supposed to have spicey king crab in it - not sure what was in it as it had no taste; mushy and again they clearly tried to hide its poor qulity by covering it in a too much sticky sweet clear red goo. We also ordered another roll, but honestly we took one bite each and left it.
When the bartender came over to ask how everything was we both said "not very good" and he shrugged his shoulders and walked off, seeing over half of our plate pushed to the side untouched.
Nope - won't be back. Frankly we should have known better!
This is a great place to bring a group of friends, or to hang out with your buddy for  drinks. It's a fun hip bar, with artsy decor and TV's to keep you occupied until your meal comes. The burger is a delicious choice, with bacon bits, and fresh cut tomato onions and lettuce. The steak cut fries are fresh and tasty.
Review Source:FINALLY! A place I can express my love. I am not exactly brain-alive today, so I'll do my simple little list form for you all...
1. It's definitely the BEST beer selection in town. I love that they have local brews and regional. I like having my choice, especially when it's from amazing craft beers like Lagunita's, Victory, Oskar Blues, etc.
2. The pizza. All of them rule. My most favorite is the mushroom, but the rest are delicious too. P likes the white one best too, and the Margherita is simple perfection.
3. The staff is all awesome. Great, friendly, prompt service. It makes you feel cosy inside.
4. You can also get sushi and stuff! Sometimes you just want miso soup and edamame, for a change.
5. Apps.. I love the special fries. Mozz sticks ain't bad either, but the sauce makes them so tasty, One negative-Whenever I eat the nachos, my shit is green for days. That does not stop me from eating the nachos, ever. They're amazing.
6. Decor is ALMOST too tacky for me. Then again, I mean, what do I expect for a bar named after a Grateful Dead song? Everything else not Dead related is super neat though. I like that the bar is basically a tree with booze and stuffed animals above. I also like the "people" made out of tools.
7. I've never had a main entree but I have heard my friends moan while eating them. I assume that's a good thing.
8. Interesting mixed crowd. I'll leave it at that.
9. I don't like live music in little restaurants so I'll just pretend they don't have it.
OK, that's all. Summary: go right now, drink pizza, get an app, eat pizzas, tip your server well.
In a town jaded with so many dining and pub options, Minglewood is in a class by itself.  The vibe is great, and the atmosphere has the right combination of hip and cozy.  The food is eclectic and delicious:  yummy artesanal brick-oven fired pizzas, the best nachos on the planet (my guy says so!) and these rice ovals with salmon sashimi on top that are beyond heavenly.  But the very best part of Minglewood is the staff behind the bar: Peter, Brian and , Megan, 3 bartenders that take that profession to a whole new level.  Peter comes from Cameron's and was a fixture in Gloucester for many years, famous for his cocktail creations with liberal doses of alcohol and his wry sense of humor.  Brian is a self-taught beer connossieur who is continually finding new and exotic brews and then writing these poetic descriptions of each on a weekly updated menu that make you want to try all of them; he is also an expert at knowing what beer you want to drink and what to eat with it  .Megan makes these killer skinny martinis upon request and if you find yourself lost in that "other bar" on the other side of the wall, she will go over there and  fetch you  back home to Minglewood.  From the first visit we were treated like VIP customers and from the second one, they knew our names, remembered what we had ordered and acted like they'd been expecting us.  If I sound like I am gushing or exaggerating, go there and see for yourself!!!!  This place has it all and has never disappointed.
