The Mission is totally my favorite place in Boston. When you get older, it's the little things that matter. The service is great and put up with my drunk ass regularly.

The drinks are awesome. Great beer selection and they even infuse their own tequila and vodka. The Mission Arnold Palmer is ta die for.

The food is also awesome for a bar - the burgers are amazing! There was a period of time where they must have had a new cook because the burgers were like, burnt on the outside yet still cooked perfect (medium rare) on the inside. Thought it was just an off night but nope, it was happening on the reg. Wasn't good - but had one recently and it was perfect. The chicken tenders are clearly made in house and come with buffalo sauce on the side. Also love the Steak & Bleu salad, chowder, calamari, steak tips and chicken saltimbocca (yummm).

My only issue with the mission is there is one waitress who is horrible. Her name starts with a G or something. She never brings water and you literally have to dispatch a courier pigeon to find her. She's super sweet, but for the love of god, follow up on your tables. Amanda, however, is the best!!

For those of you missing the Choppin' Block you are out of your minds. That place was nasty. What a dump! The neighborhood is a lot better without it!!! Although, if you loved the Choppin' Block this is definitely not your scene. Which in the end, is good news for me.

Came in for a late lunch while in the area on Memorial Day 2013. Sat at the bar and got OK service from the bartender - quick, nice.

Got the Avocado and Goat Cheese sandwich, which overall wasn't bad. However, don't say goat cheese if your goat cheese is a mayo-consistency spread, rather than solid, yummy chunks of goat cheese. That was disappointing on what could have been a great sandwich. Their fries are good, but an offer of some malt vinegar and more ketchup (they give you a lot of fries) would have been swell.

Overall, the place is good, if not a little overpriced for their offerings.

The food was ok. The womens bathroom was terrible. The stalls are way too small, and in shoddy condition.

I remember this place when it used to be a dive bar and it was pretty disgusting. I stepped inside once back in the days and there were only 2 small windows.

I've came here at least a dozen or so times since it opened and mind you, I am not a bar person but frankly, the food here is pretty good considering that it's a bar.

Some of the things i've ordered here was the grilled salmon, chicken salad, shrimp scampi, burgers, brunch on Sundays. Of these the only thing i didn't like much was the Shrimp scampi. There was just too much of the herb seasoning that gave it a bitter taste. The grilled salmon was really good, nice and moist and cooked to perfection.

The last time I was here was with some friends celebrating her birthday. It was an hour or so after work and the place was packed. We got a tiny little table and 7 of us were standing around it, elbow to elbow. The drinks came relatively fast which was great. Refills took a bit longer but understandably so since it was so busy.

We all had a great time. The staff here is definitely friendly. It's also definitely a neighborhood gem, a little more upscale them Flann's.

I recently moved to the Mission Hill area and was excited to check this place out. It rarely seemed to have a large crowd, and tended to be mostly a 'Bro' crowd, but nevertheless I was keen to see the local dive bars. After having watched the Patriots lose to Baltimore in excruciating fashion, I decided I could use a drink and headed down to check the place out.

The bar was fairly empty, per usual, and there seemed to be some really drunk locals. Upon entering the bar, I proceeded to be interrogated by the bouncer (whom my roommate informed me was the new aggressive one) about what I had been up to that night. Afterwards, he rudely informed me that I would not be allowed entry and would call the police if I didn't leave, despite the fact that I had offered up no resistance and was not acting drunk or disorderly. I took his advice and headed across the street to Flann's where I got a couple beers and there was actually more than 10 people.

Perhaps the after work scene and food is good here. But I am 27 years old, and this was first time I have every been kicked out or denied entry into a bar. Lesson learned - I will leave this place to the townies.

The Mission is like a transformer - much more than meets the eye!

I have been a few times, and at first I got hte impression it was a typical bar. Bar type food, beer and drinks, populated by college kids and those getting off work from the hospital. I didnt expect to much

But I was proven wrong. mainly by the food. From the burgers, to salad, to the great squash ravioli - everything has exceeded my expectations. I now go back for dinner, not just drinks.

it is a good atmosphere, but after 6 does get packed and busy. There are a few TV's with ESPN on, but it isnt a sports bar atmosphere. There is a good beer selection, and prices overall arent that bad. It is right off the Green line, easy to get to, and overall a comfy place.

If you live in MissionHill, it is worth checking out. Go for dinner, stay for drinks, and enjoy the people

I was invited here by a friend for drinks and it was a great place!

The place has a great old brick bar ambience! Good place to watch the game. About 4 - 5 TVs. The Wings are great! And usually there is a deal. 25 cent wings. Waiters were friendly and attentive.

Parking may be an issue since it is a residential area and on the corner of a busy interaction. There is a T stop Huntington ave green line.

Great place to relax after work!

Came here for dinner and brunch a while back..

Food: The food is solid, nothing that is going to blow your mind, but you won't be disappointed. I had a breakfast burrito, which was good.

Drinks: First off, they have some great beers available on by the glass, and even more by the bottle. I haven't looked at the wine list, so I really can't comment on it. Given the warm weather, I decided to have the strawberry mojito with brunch. It was good, nicely balance and not overly sweet. However, the mint was muddled to the point that it was impossible to get a sip without having to chew.

Atmosphere: Brunch was pretty calm, we sat at one of the high-tops and I'd guess the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. The best part was the huge windows that opened up onto Brigham Circle. At dinner it was pretty crowded, we had to vie for space at the bar but eventually got a table for our group. The vibe was bustling, but not too busy, there was a good amount of energy but you still didn't have to yell to order.

Final Thoughts: If you're in the area, check it out for some nice beer and good food.

OP did not deliver. 0.005/10. BBQ wings tasted like expired ketchup wings. Buffalo wings, well mere butter plus hot sauce. I believed I ordered a garlic aioli fries, not a garlic aioli fries without garlic aioli. Um yeah I definitely did order a garlic aioli fries because you charged me for it.

Come here for the crowd and to drink. Brunch is good here just don't get anything else unless it's a burger. This isn't a place to get dinner then go out. It's a place to stumble into at 11pm and order food just to try to sober up.

Other than that, great decor! This is place is almost too nice for the area.

The allure of trivia night and 25 cent wings was too strong to keep us away from adventuring into The Mission. Unfortunately, the wings weren't good enough to keep us from getting out as quickly as possible.

We ordered some buffalo and BBQ and neither were really anything that special. It was quite sad, because when we saw other people getting wings they smelled quite delicious. However, when we actually got them they weren't good at all.

Half of the wings were super dark brown, why? Well, somehow they managed to break a ton of bones releasing blood and other stuff that normally isn't very appetizing. The BBQ wings weren't bad, but the sauce left something to be desired as it was neither tangy nor savory. Add to all that the problem that the wings just weren't crispy enough to make them worth it at all.

We like to have some carbs with our meat so we ordered some fries with garlic aoli. I'm guessing they forgot the garlic, because our fries tasted pretty plain.

Next time maybe? "THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME!"

Friendly staff. Friendly owner who visits regularly. Good food and relatively cheap beers. Significant sports always supported with addition of big screen TV. For what it is it's great!
Excellent local bar that always screens the local sports teams.

The Mission is like my second home. Seriously. I lived right up the street till recently. It's the perfect place to go after I get out of work from the Farber and want a drink and/or food. Their menu has changed recently, and it's for the better I think. They have weekly specials now and a lot more variety on their menu. Favorites include their fish and chips, nachos (ask any of my friends and they would tell you I usually get nachos and a beer), brushetta, mini sliders, and sweet potato fries. I mean, I basically like everything there but these seem to be the ones I order regularly. I'm very health conscious can't you tell? I'm a huge beer person so I love the fact that they have a pretty good selection. It rotates frequently, which has allowed me to try so many different beers over the past 3 years.

The staff is amazing and will take care of you when you're there. It's a fantastic spot right after work. It's like 95% Longwood medical area folks. It's casual, as you will usually see more people in scrubs than not. And their brunch??? Love it. I rolled out of bed quite a few times to come for brunch when I hadn't had time to go grocery shopping. Come to think of it, I did this for dinner too.

I can safely say I've been here 50+ times, but realistically I know it's probably way more. I am so sad that I no longer have such easy access to the Mish but it won't stop me. I'll just make it a point to come here more often after work :)

I've recently discovered their bruschetta, which is *almost* as mind-blowing as those sweet potato skins with marscapone/balsamic/bacon that are no longer on the menu... get the bruschetta, get it now. You will not be disappointed. Amazingly good.

Always packed with LMA types so end your day early and grab a table, enjoy the excellent beer selection and solid food, and relax in one of the few places in the area worth frequenting.

I cant comment much on the food because I literally got the same thing everytime I went LOL, a reuben with fries, nevertheless it was good, the service was good. My friends always got different things on the menu and always loved it
I miss the mission now that Im in New York but it will definitely be one of the places that I will visit when I come back to BOS to see family

Mission Bar seems to always have a buzz....lunch can be loud (trust me you do not want to have business lunch meetings or lunch break 'getting to know you' interviews here, but it's great in warm weather when the fold away windows are open. Service is great day or night. I enjoy all of their bar fare...great loaded nachos, quesadillas, buffalo wings, kobe sliders, arancini, and some of the best mussels I've had served in a fantastic spicy red sauce and grilled bread for dipping.
The menu in general is a cohesive mix of bar fare and higher end cuisine (e.g. KOBE sliders or side choices like basmati rice or potato puree mash). Their signature burger is plump and delicious. My favorite lunch salads are the Chopped and the Steak & Blue. The bartenders here are friendly. There is also a suprisingly expansive scotch list. This is where I fell in love with Lagavulin 16.

Where to begin? How about long lines to get into mediocre college bar where music and food lack luster, whilst being treated with disrespect that you wonder why people put up with it. Oh right, they live in Brigham Circle, they're 23, and care less about quality than they do the number of steps they have to stumble home at two in the morning. Seen much of the staff change over the years and to my amazement, it seems that only the most derogatory have stayed. Not surprising.

There are too many other (better) options in this neighborhood, if you have to go out here. Don't waste your money, unless you're a meat-head, then this is your place; go here, you'll love it!

Was much better as the Chopping Block...

Great after work spot if you're in the Longwood area-- great drink and beer selection and decent food menu.

Loud for a neighborhood bar at 6:00 PM on a week day-- but other than that, a great spot.

Pros:
*Cool Atmosphere
*Good Sandwiches and Burgers
*Ok Prices

Cons:
*Service was Slow
*Place can get really packed
*Restaurant is not big... so game nights can be super loud.

It was A-OK for me.

Ok... This was one of the saddest quesadillas I've ever had. It's unfortunately also one of the most expensive.

When you charge 13 dollars for a chicken quesadilla, it really needs to have more than refried beans (canned? really? beans are cheap as hell...), chicken, cheese, jarred salsa (fucking really? You can't make salsa fucking fresca or pico de gallo? You plopped Pace salsa on my plate, & think that's OK?) store bought guacamole, and some sad looking canned black olives and jalapeños. When you're charging that much for 4 wedges of quesadilla, I expect fresh ingredients. Nothing on the plate was freshly made. NOTHING.

At least throw some beans and rice on the plate, and some onions and peppers in the quesadilla if you're going to charge that much. Also, I know you have fresh tomatoes, garlic, and onions back there... Have a prep cook chop that shit up, get some limes from the bar, buy some fresh cilantro, little salt, little pepper... bam... fuckin salsa fresca.

This is a $6 quesadilla at best. I've had better at chain restaurants. If you aren't going to bother putting any effort into something, why even put it on the menu? Let me break it down for you, a couple of grill marks on the tortilla don't make a good quesadilla. It's a delicious equation where the whole is very much the sum of its parts. Your parts sucked, its expensive, and the whole dish is a disaster as a result, to be quite frank.

Now, some will ask, "are you really judging a joint on their quesadilla alone?" To this, I say YES. Does it taste good? Sure... its cheese, beans and chicken in a tortilla, anyone can make that taste good. That's not the point... it's an obvious afterthought on the menu, and it's expensive for no reason. Why bother having it and charging that much, if you aren't going to make it worth buying/eating? I put more effort into this review than the Mission apparently puts into making their food.

Anyway, I will assume the rest of your food is equally suspect, overpriced, and boring. BTW, your beers, which i'll assume you think are your draw, are overpriced when compared to places that offer similar or the same brews. Their quesadillas are better too.

I like the atmosphere here for both restaurant time and bar time- I actually think it gets louder and crazier during mealtime some days.

The drinks are moderately priced. I'm a dive bar lady myself, and the Mission is about as classy as I get. Delicious mixed drinks (something with cucumber?) nice beer selection, down to earth bartenders... it's nice! They still have $3 High Lifes when I'm drunk enough to stop pretending I have "dignity" or whatever it is you normals call it.

The food is great. My friends rave about the breakfast, I've never been. I've had the potato salad (great), steak salad (could have used more crumbled cheese), and portabella mushroom burger (yum!)

The Mission is a solid choice. As a girl on the younger side of her 20's, I think it is a great bar. Good for the college student who isn't a slave to Our House or Connor's.

Boy oh boy did I manage to hit an off night at the Mission Grill. Having been born here and remembering when the Switch had only a few less than stellar water holes I was ready to try the Mission Grill after reading all the great Yelp reviews.

Here is a list of the positive things I experienced:

Now that you have read my extensive list of positives, I will list the negatives:

1.The noise level makes it very difficult to have a conversation.
2.The bartenders seemed more intent on their private conversations than waiting on customers.
3.Sitting at the bar, our food order went in at 7:15. At 7:40 I asked if the food was coming out soon. Reply...."sorry the order was lost on the system, I will reenter it. "
4.8:05: Is the food coming out soon? Reply" they are having a tough time tonight let me check? "Sorry it will be out soon."
5.8:15. I have had it. Please give me my check and cancel the order.
6.Finally, the sin of all sins in my opinion....the bartender made a perfectly awful martini.

Quality of the food; do not know never had the opportunity to try any. Worst dinning experience (I use the term dinning loosely here) I have had in 30 years.

After several visits to Mission, I figured it was time to write about the place. Needless to say, if I didn't think it was great, I wouldn't keep going back. Since I work at the LMA, this place is great for business lunches, after work drinks, or dinner with friends. But even if it's not walking distance from you, it's worth the trip. Mission is steps from the Brigham Circle Station on the Green E line.

They have some of my favorite beers on tap, and good cocktails too. The bar staff is sociable, and competent. The servers are prompt and knowledgeable about the menu. Even the security staff is pleasant. The food is always fantastic - I would recommend the Fish & Chips (all day), Cuban sandwich (lunch menu), or the Chicken Saltimbocca (dinner).

The location of the Bar attracts an amusingly diverse crowd - from medical staff still wearing their scrubs to Northeastern students. Overall a good value for good food and a fun atmosphere.

This is a nice spot to grab some food and/or grab a drink to start your night. The first time I came here was for Cory H's birthday. We arrived after the group had left, and the bouncer was super nice and gook pity on us that we had just missed our group. (He bought me a drink). It was made well and packed a punch.

Today, I met up with Angie G and had some lunch. Yumm! The serving size was so big! I had the steak sandwich and potato salad as my side. Again... yummmmmm! Not a choice I'd recommend for a date though because it was a bit messy to eat.

Large selection of beers, and full stocked bar of liquors, friendly staff, attentive servers, decent atmosphere, and right across the street from the E line Brigham Circle stop.... what more can you ask for?!

I used to live around the corner from The Mission, and it took care of all of my needs. That sounds slightly dirty but is oh-so-true. If you go during the week, it is mellow, the music selection is fantastic, and you can order some of the best appetizers ever. If you go on a weekend around close, it can definitely turn into a last call kind of place where dirty dancing is happening in every nook and cranny. You can go on a date there, get drunk and rowdy if the mood strikes, or I even know a couple who broke up there...It caters to every need.

They also do themed nights occasionally. I was there when it happened to be 80's Prom Night, and it was a blast.

The Best things they serve:
The Champtini - Pomegranate juice, vodka, champagne. I'm a total girly girl when it comes to cocktails and anything that has champagne has pretty much won my heart over already. But this is, hands down, my favorite cocktail in the entire city. And that's saying something because i've drank my way through many a venue.
Sweet Potato Skins - What more could you ever want than sweet potatos, mascarpone, and balsamic vinegar. It's the best combination ever.
Fried Calamari- The portion is huge, and the dipping sauces are amazing.

Definitely a hot spot for the after work 20something crowd. A friend and I met up for dinner and drinks after work here so we fit right in :) Parking was kinda crappy but I found a spot on Wigglesworth Street a few blocks down.

Our server was kind of slow but we were having a leisurely conversation so no biggie. The grilled chicken sandwich was yummy - boursin cheese and a huge bun, yumyum! The fries were perfectly cooked too. Relatively cheap for the quality of food, I was impressed. Would go back anytime.

A deep clean, simple paint job, new name and furniture can transform the grungiest of bars into something palatable for even Beacon Hill residents. It seems that this is what happened to The Chopping Block as the property owners realized that they'd be making more money attracting Brigham employees and trust fund Mass Art kids to the most upscale bar in the area.

They've got a decent beer list, nice enough service and tv screens so if you're around might be a cool place to watch the game though it doesn't have the personality of the Pig. I dropped in twice in one week though. Why? Butternut squash ravioli with sage butter sauce. Vegetarians rejoice. I'll be coming round the mountain for more.

Props to The Mission for enduring a gaggle of about 20 rain-soaked, pajama-clad, drunken Yelpers staggering in at 5 pm on a Saturday and taking up approximately 4 tables' worth of space. Then again, we did order a metric asston of food and drinks, so I'm sure it was worth sacrificing some peace and quiet.

The Mission Burger is grilled meat heaven on earth, period. I kept it simple and ordered mine with cheddar, since I'd already had enough bacon that day to seize the hearts of an entire Florida retirement community. I actually finished the whole thing, which is usually unheard of for me. I also demolished all of my fries, due to being deprived of french toast and other brunch items at the Elite event. I sampled Ligaya's butternut squash ravioli, which was slightly sweet but delicious. They have Hoegaarden and a good selection of other beers, which earns them a star The waitress was also super-friendly and competent with our large, loud crowd. Another star!

Mission Hill's really not far from where I live. I certainly wouldn't mind coming back again, but unfortunately it's not within (convenient) walking distance from my apartment. Whooooo's gonna drive me?

This place has mixed reviews indeed. It really seems to depend on what time of the day you went, who you went with (important in most places one visits, methinks), what state of mind you went in, and if you tried the *drumroll* super scrumptious Mission Burger.

In my case, it was: 4:30pm on Saturday afternoon, with a loud and crazy super-mimosa-filled group after a long and nutty brunchy morning, in a very jolly state of mind. And many of us satiated our growling bellies with that delicious burger (and it's only $10 - trust me, when you see it, you'll know that's pretty great). The dark decor was perfect for such a day, and we felt very cozy being welcomed in by the somewhat medieval doors and high ceilings on a cold day just pouring with rain. The water glasses were filled endlessly to satisfy our parched throats, and the burgers were juicy, flavourful, and huge. The fries were excellent, really, I enjoyed them so much I found myself dreaming about them at several points during the evening and later the next morning. They really hit the spot.

And the staff? Wonderful. Friendly, prompt, attentive, and just super sweet, it was amazing how they dealt with our loopy and loud group. Really, best service I've had in quite some time. The rest of the clientele was ranging to extremes - they were either jolly and enjoyed the entertainment of our group and appreciated that there was a bunch of people there having a sincerely good time, or they were cold and stared us down like a group of hostile martians. I wouldn't necessarily come back for the night-time bar-drinking scene, but I certainly would if I were near the neighborhood, wanted great service, and had a manic burger craving. Mmmm.

Stopped in here on Saturday afternoon, in the pouring rain, in my pajamas, with about 15 other pajama-ed folks, most of us drunk from mimosa-soaked brunch.

We were loud. We looked odd (how often do you see a mob of folks in pajamas at 5pm on a Saturday trekking through the pouring rain in Mission Hill?). Some of the other patrons found us amusing. I think others were unhappy with our arrival based on the stares, but maybe those were a result of the aforementioned pajamas.

Tables were pushed together, drinks were ordered, and some food. I had the Mission burger with cheddar and the fries. Mmm. Good burger. Good fries. I only made it through about half the burger. Though after I got home and took a nap, I was wishing I had brought the other half home with me. It would have hit the spot as a snack later on.

The waitress was cheery, despite our obnoxious volume and running around. She seemed to understand why a few of us were sucking down water like there was no tomorrow, and kept our glasses filled with a smile.

I don't find myself in Mission Hill often, but I'd definitely stop back in here for a bite and a drink.

I had seen mixed reviews for the Mission, but wanted to check it out and be my own judge and I was pretty impressed. They catered well to maybe 15 of us (?) and I had nothing to complain about. They sold a large bottle of some pretty fantastic cherry lambic to me for $13, which I paired with a Mission Burger. Vicki was not kidding, the burgers here are....magical. For about $10 I got the mission burger topped with cheddar and avocado served with potato salad. I have a really big crush on potato salad and loved that it's offered as an alternative to french fries. Damien ordered some nachos that were HUGE and pretty fantastic, loaded with everything you can imagine, fresh guac, chicken, cheese, olives, jaleps, etc.

Our server was very attentive and accommodating, clearing plates promptly, and being patient with our rowdy crowd.

Rarely will I do this, but I'm giving this place 5 full stars based on one thing, and one thing only: The Mission Burger.

Deciding to leave veganism behind in March after a few years, this has been the place that transitioned me fully into my rediscovered eating habits, and oh god, what a beautiful thing...

So, yeah, that's it. I've drank their beer. I've experienced their friendly serivce. Been there when it's empty, packed, daynight and night.

The Mission Burger, I bow to thee...

I went here to get lunch with two friends, and was immediately wary upon seeing everyone in the entire joint chewing a salad.

A waitress walked up after we'd been standing there for 10 mins and said "yeah?" and then proceeded to be rude and inattentive the whole time. I suggested leaving her a nice tip so she might be able to afford a personality.

When I got my sandwich (cuban $8) IT chewed ME! Seriously, the bread was so "toasted" that it ripped the roof of my mouth out. The french fries were very good though, and my friend got nachos which were enourmous and covered with toppings for about the same price as I paid for my meal.

Maybe if I got the nachos...

I find myself in disagreement with a review that disagrees with two other reviews here.. particularly in their descriptions of The Mission as being "a beter place". This is not a beter place nor is it better.

This place is the king of cliche bars. It is the Tavern of Mission Hill. Where people imagine themselves up as being classy and mature... slightly city like. Well snap out of it and please for chrissakes let reality hit. If you weren't so snooty I wouldn't be calling you out. Big deal.. some corner leather seats and dim lights with uniformed bartenders. SO jealous of your sophistication. I'd rather be real than sit next to you. Play jazz, play Top 40, play some trance.. you still can't change the fact you have not established any sort of particular clientele., which is pretty important. Oh and tell your door guy to stop taking his job so seriously. Damn you T.G.I.F for being closed across the street for us not so teenage ICMF douchebags.

This place was okay, but I think it was better when it was the shithole known as the Choppin' Block. Maybe I just like shitholes. I don't know.

The bartender was nice enough to make my friend a "blue drink" at his request, but the tiny bouncer dude at the door was a little obnoxious (he wouldn't let me go out for a cigarette about 15 minutes before closing, that bastard). Fuck off, little man! I'll smoke when I feel like it!!! Don't tell me what to do!!! Douchenozzle.

Overall, I might come here again but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it. This place is a little too fancy pants-yuppie for me.

Solidly a good place to find comfort food with a little class. The burgers and sandwiches which come with a nice side of french are always consistently good and satisfying. doesn't make you feel like keeling over after a meal, but definately fills you up. The beer selection is decent, a nice variety.
Overall a good quality american style pubjoint that is perfect for after work drinks or a late, long lunch...

The Mission is fantastic. Bartenders Matt and Denise are amazing, and I thought the food was pretty good (Although I have only tried the seafood). The atmosphere is just right, flatscreen TV's on the wall for sports games, but definitely NOT a sportsbar. The age range at this bar seems to vary, it isn't always just college kids. Check it out.

edit: you must have the sweet potato skins. mm.

My original review of this place said the following:

Yawn... another generic yuppie bar.

Don't get me wrong, the newly renovated decor is certainly pleasant, and the atmosphere is nice, but the clientele is ... well... somewhat plastic.

Oh, I almost forgot about the food. If you go here, do yourself a favor and stick to drinks and appetizers, because the sandwiches and entrees are basically fast-food quality for 3 times the price.

Overall, if I were in the neighborhood with friends and wanted a drink, there's a chance I might go back, though I wouldn't go so far as to recommend the place to anyone.

Update: A friend of mine has been hanging out here alot lately and insists that it has improved dramatically since the time I went there last. To be fair, I'll give the place another chance and adjust this review accordingly if appropriate.

to be continued...

... Part II.

I went there again the other night so I have to update my review. During the day this place is bright and airy, with large windows that they'll presumably open up during the Summer time. The beer selection was pretty extensive, but sadly overpriced. I didn't have any food, but I'm told it has improved. As far as the crowd, it's still kind of yuppie, but less obnoxiously so as before, with a slightly more mixed crowd than there had been.

I still much prefer the squealing pig a block further down huntington, and will probably only come to mission bar if I have friends who insist on going.

As a newcomer to the Mission Hill area this summer, I was relieved when the Mission Bar & Grill opened its doors. Located in the building which used to house the infamous Choppin' Block, I've been told that the interior has been completely renovated. Head to the corner between Stop & Shop and Penguin at Brigham Circle, and you'll find that a dreary exterior hides a well-appointed bar.

Although not extensive, the bar's selection is more than adequate, and the food menu is a good companion. Take a relative to a decent lunch. Meet up with a buddy for some drinks, eats, and sports viewing on the beautiful flat-screen TVs. However, beware of Thursday nights, when the college kids take over the place - unless you're looking for like-minded bootyshakers. I haven't yet been, but I hear the DJs they've added are beginning to pull a crowd.

See their website at http://www.themissionbar… for updates - looks like they are adding brunch with parking at Stop & Shop!

Overall, a true addition to the neighborhood - a new hangout, with a little class and a lot to offer.
