I used to be a regular at Molly's, but I'll never set foot in here again.

The service has been getting progressively more unprofessional, and this past St. Patrick's day was the breaking point.

I was with four friends - also regulars - for some quick food and a couple of pitchers spur-of-the-moment on St. Patrick's day. To our surprise we got a table right away, and that's honestly where the good part of the story ends.

Everything was "on special" for $1-5 more than it usually costs. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until we got the bill and compared it to the menu that Molly's has posted on their website. We were handed tiny menus and were hungry, so we ate without really thinking that they'd be pulling a scam like this. Why should we have assumed that?

My grilled chicken sandwich was $10.95, instead of it's usual $7.95. My friend's corned beef and cabbage was $15.95/$16.95 (I don't remember exactly) to it's usual $11.95. Guinness was "on special" for $6 a pint!? Our waitress said Harp was $5 and pint and rang up $5.50. The pitchers of Harp we got we found out way too late were "on special" for $16 each!

Anyway, they robbed us, and everyone else there, blind that night.

Our waitress came over at a certain point and said that she was going behind the bar now, and would like for us to close out our tab. She suggested we stay there, but then just go get bar service. We agreed and paid our bill while she hovered over us. The second she got the signed receipts in her hand, however, she sent over two bouncers who evicted us from our table (which was NOT in the way of the "dance floor") because they needed to clear the area for dancing. After spending over $150 on four pitchers of beer, six pints and two entrees, they were ready to burn bridges.

The management here is lackluster, to be polite, and a little creepy. The fact that they'd manipulate and deceive regular customers is bad business and I look forward to watching this place fall apart at the seams.

Molly's is a bar on Bethlehem's South Side that offers a wide array of micro/traditional beers, strong cocktails, and a surprisingly interesting menu comprised of traditional bar food with other interesting options. Formerly, the New St. Bridge Works, Molly's is an open space featuring an extensive bar, wide open dining room, and a small game room. Typically, Molly's has an interesting mix of students from Lehigh University and residents of Bethlehem. Molly's does offer a wide array of drink and food specials throughout the week that do a good job enticing people into the bar.

The food at Molly's is typical bar food with a twist. They have many of the common bar options that many people would look for while at a bar including a large list of appetizers, burgers, and additional sandwiches. Beyond the traditional bar fare, Molly's does have an interesting menu of Irish themed platters and a surprisingly good vegetarian menu. Molly's food is not the best bar food in the Valley but it is far from the bottom. Since the menu is so big it will be able to please even the pickiest of eaters.

Overall Molly's is a bar and not culinary Meca but they do take pride in offering reasonable food, in a fun atmosphere, in the South Side of Bethlehem. There are DJS there Thursday through Saturday so if that is not the type of scene you follow it might be best to check it out another day of the week.

Used to be the Lehigh Pub. The revamp was needed. Its not a bad place if you like to be around a bunch of crazy Lehigh kids.

I didn't want to give Molly's a bad rating, but I did want to post this for other folks as a heads up.

We were excited to visit Molly's for a late night vegan snack. We showed up on a Saturday night at 10:30. To their credit, the guys checking IDs at the door were very nice and said the kitchen was still open and we could get food. I looked through the doors skeptically--I was pretty sure that it had turned into a dance club, as I could only see people dancing and no one eating. But they urged us to go inside.

We went inside and sure enough, all of the tables had been pushed against the walls or stacked on top of each other. It was too loud to hear anything and the place was packed, but no one was there to eat food.

I appreciate that it is near a college and you have to do what makes money on a Saturday night. We just wished it had been published or mentioned somewhere so we wouldn't have wasted a trip. We left and ate elsewhere.

Good food and good beer selection. They don't advertise themselves as a top shelf dining experience. So if your a snob, don't go. I've eaten here at least 4 times and have had all positive experiences.

Came here twice in one day and then came back the next day.

One of the pool tables is broken so we played infinite games. Wings were good and so were the cheese fries. Tons of beer options if you like beer...and a bunch of cheap choices when it comes to said beer.

They also have Terminator in the back, but no one lasts long in that game.

I'll be back.

Leave it to innovative Bethlehem to offer decent vegan food at a typical college beer pub, this one being the most visible on the main drag on the South Side. Molly's spreads the cool trend in Philly where pubs are offering tons of hearty vegan dishes. Read more in Vance Lehmkuhl's "V For Veg" column in the Philly papers.

Molly's came out for the Bethlehem VegFest to show off their vegetarian menu:

- Vegan Thai Curry ($13)
- Whole Roasted Garlic with bread and feta (vegetarian, $8)
- Hummus Platter ($7)
- Cold Thai Peanut Noodles ($7.25)
- Marinated Tofu Stirfry ($9.50)
- Hummus Sandwich ($7)
- Homemade Black Bean Burger ($8)

Maybe they will include some of these dishes in their Weekly Specials.

I first heard about this because of the Veganize Me story featuring a local guy trying vegan food for a month. Molly's was one of the places he went, not a place where I would ever have explored vegan food before.

It is really great to see local pubs getting in on food diversity. This is not the only place, but it is one that has really made an effort. No boring pasta or limp grilled vegetable plate to be seen! Nice job Molly's!

After a long layoff we attempted to come back to Molly's this past Friday and things are unfortunately still all over the place in terms of the experience.

First off it's worth noting that they no longer participate in http://restaurant.com so if you still have an old certificate hanging around they will not honor it, so says the big sign on their front door.

We seated ourselves as they have no one to seat people and there still is no sign telling you to seat yourself which you figure that they would have figured out by now because a lot of people still come in and just linger in the doorway because they don't know the rules of the road.

Drinks were ordered and they appeared equally quick.

We opted to start with Molly's Nachos and they were bad. The chips were rock hard and some had a peppery? coating on them which was disgusting. Plenty of lettuce, jalapenos, and pork on them but they were extremely skimpy in terms of tomatoes and cheese. Also the nachos are supposed to have chili on them and there was none.

The lovely wife ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad and I opted for a burger as I know from past visits that their "Irish" selections mostly suck. The salad was badly overdressed and all of the croutons were placed on the bottom under everything else in a nice pool of oily ooze from the excessive dressing.

The burger was actually alright and was probably the only thing that was actually done as advertised. The service was acceptable even though our entrees were brought out less than five minutes after the nachos came out.

Overall this is probably the last straw for us with Molly's as I'm sure it's a great place to get loaded at, as evidenced by the packed bar this past Friday, but the food is really sub par and maybe that's why from what we could see most people were either ordering nothing or if they had food it was only apps.

I went with a couple of friends to explore Molly's Irish Grille. I had never heard of it, and while my friends had they had never given it a second look while passing it on the street. Bethlehem's Restaurant Week is what prompted us to give it a try, and I'm glad that we did! It was 7 pm on a Monday night so it wasn't crowded and we had no trouble getting seated and served right away. They have a great selection of microbrews which were on special that night for $3 which I thought was a good deal.
For $25 our restaurant week menu included a house salad, appetizer, entree, and dessert. The house salad was exactly what it sounds like, nothing fancy at all, though the iceberg lettuce was fresh and so were the standard toppings. For an appetizer I ordered the "loaded tots"... WOW. HUGE plate that could have served as 2 complete dinners in itself for me. The tots were cooked very well and generously loaded with what seemed to be a delicious chilli. Two thumbs up! For an entree I had a 1/2 roast chicken. The chicken was not dry, though not super juicy, a bit on the bland side for a restaurant, but more similar to the taste of a meal that I would cook at home. I personally appreciated this because I often find roasted meats from restaurants much too salty and seasoned. Lastly, for dessert I ordered their infamous bread pudding. I have never had bread pudding before (I know, crazy, I was a stubborn kid who thought that it sounded gross), but this was very delicious! So very, very sugary. I walked out of their after an hour and a half very stuffed and with two large and heavy to-go boxes.
This is definitely bar food, so I wouldn't come here expecting anything fancier, though I was impressed at their menu and the food quality being a step above your standard pub burger and fries. If you're looking for an inexpensive meal, Molly's is worth a try!

Molly's has Delirium Tremens on tap. That alone, in Bethlehem, warrants 3.5 stars. I give them another half star because I'm a nice guy. It's a convenient stop for a few beers before a show at Godfrey Daniels, The Funhouse or whatever & I hope they keep up the good work on the beer selections. I've never been in there past 8 or so & think that's probably wise for those looking to take advantage of the taps without all the nonsense.

If you're 25 or under, it's 4 stars on Friday and Saturday nights after 10:00. If your over 25 it's 4 stars any other time.

Great beer selection, good food (very good wings), good service, and great mix of people (before 10:00!). One of the few places on the South Side you can play pool in a relaxed atmosphere with some decent brews and decent prices. Really did a nice job with reopening this place from the previous disaster it was. Nice work!

This is a college bar, don't expect much else.

Molly's has changed ownership a few times in the past few years, but has finally found itself as a late night college bar, with some club music and a dance floor. The food is mediocre bar food, pre-made or frozen.

They have a good number of TVs for sports, and trivia Thursday nights at 8.

This location has been home to many places in the past couple years however I believe Molly's is here to stay. In an area where college bars rule the roost, this one has stood out for me personally. Granted I'm a bit beyond the age of being the official word on college bars these days but let's focus on this as a Grille and Sports Bar as it claims.

The decor is exactly what you would expect, fun and humble yet clean. A nice change of pace from many of these types of bars on the SouthSide of Bethlehem. The tables are spread nicely apart so you aren't cramped and the bar is huge, wrapping all the way from the front door to the backside. Seating is always readily available and the hostess will lead you so it's not a matter of fighting for chairs yourself. Always a positive.

Let's be real, we don't come to places like this for the decor, so let's talk what matters...food and drinks. The food is what you would expect, standard bar favorites such a nachos and wings. They also have a hummus platter which you would expect but is always welcomed when you have veggie friends, lord knows they are a drag :) kidding! In all seriousness they actually have a 'Vegetarian' portion on the menu that offers more options. How cool is that? Talk about being a progressive bar for food.
The food is consistently good and if there is every a problem, there is no argument or discussion with your server, you simply get it fixed and the way you wanted it. A refreshing change from bratty waitress' and line cooks with attitude. Quality bar food in a timely manner. What more could you ask for?

I know what you could ask for...a decent beer list? Also good. Plenty of micro brews and quality beers on tap and if you don't see it. Ask. They may offer what you are looking for in bottle.

While you may find a lot of those things at other bars, the service and attitude is what is different about this place. I will give you an example and it's only one but I have more, if you decide to say it was just a good night.

Recent birthday of a friend's was there. Molly's allowed for a Cake to be delivered earlier in the day, so they could bring it out when the party arrived. When she arrived, a friend had flowers for her...instead of a vase or something boring, they gave her, and let her keep a 50$ yuengling growler! It was the best gift. They also brought out complimentary crab claws and sang to her.

They really do go above and beyond for a neighborhood bar and that's exactly why they will be around for a long time.

You rock Molly's!

Formally Bridgeworks and the Lehigh Pub, Molly's is the latest iteration of this South Bethlehem corner stone.

First of all - the latest owners (Molly's) have done the best job thus far in revamping this bar. The food has gotten a lot better and their beer selection is actually pretty good. There are a bunch of TVs and two pool tables which are in decent shape.

The real problem with this place is that like clockwork at around 11:30 each night (more so when school is in session) hordes of people show up here, the loud awful music starts, and well... it sucks. Aside from the awful music, this is not the fault of the bar. Its location and size make Molly's the most user friendly place to go to in the area.

All in all, Molly's is a pretty generic college bar (I'm not going to go into why it's not an "irish pub") and the service and food are good when it isn't packed.

Molly's has really come in to it's own since assuming new ownership a few years ago.

Beer selection here is great. Most domestics are available as well as an extensive selection of micros from all over the world. They keep the beer selection fresh here by frequently finding different micros and putting new ones on tap. Don't ever hesitate to ask if you have a favorite beer that you've been looking for, they are willing to accommodate and try to find it for you.
They also have a large liquor selection here, with a knowledgeable bar staff.

All the food that comes out of the kitchen is delicious. In my opinion it stands above standard bar fare with some really great items. The black-bean veggie burger is house made and excellent, and the pulled pork is a must try.

As mentioned before there is a late-night Lehigh crowd that rolls in on the weekends, but that doesn't interfere with the ability to grab a great dinner and have one or five drinks before they get there.

I have to give them credit, they've certainly built an excellent
atmosphere here. There are some bars that lack character and then there are places like Molly's; this is certaintly one of my favorite watering holes.

Can i just point out that Amy K's review is kind of a pile of shit? Ok, cool. I am super uninterested in going over the old Lehigh Pub thing - look at my review there sometime if you want to know. But having actually BEEN to both--which is obviously not important to some people--Molly's is a different place, or at least different enough to count.

And with Molly's we reopen my unending battle with bars on the South Side of Bethlehem: I love it! I hate it! So much! In both cases! Holy shit! Why do I keep going?!!

Well, i keep going because i like a nice beer after school/work. And damn do they deliver. The specials are pretty damn good and the tap list is hands-down the best in Bethlehem. Seriously. The Ho maybe used to have good beer but Molly's now has it on lock - not just the basics (Guinness, Harp, Lager, Sam Adams) but some deep cuts (heavy rotation of Victory, always a Troegs and often a Yards, a belgian here or there and a Bell's sometimes) and the bottles have, on occasion, taken me completely by surprise (like seeing Bar Harbor Brewing Company beers there - !!). Molly's has it on lock with the beer. And the staff is friendly, which makes the totally average pub food that much more enjoyable.

But all of this stuff goes out the window after a certain hour. Molly's takes what could be a fantastic, comfy vibe, and they play to the Lehigh crowd. And who can blame them, right? There's a lot to be made there. What this translates into is noise. Raucous shit, fucking TERRIBLE dancing, annoying shitty house music, etc. etc. So stay away on weekend nights after 11, if you're anything like me. Or go - if you're looking for that sort of scene it does it just fine.

Molly's is a place i will not stop going to as long as i live in Bethlehem. It gets high marks for being a relaxed place with damn good beer at many of the hours that I am interested in being there. Even as a place to catch a football game, it's great. Being able to fill that void, the ultimate Reliable Pub, is quite an accomplishment. But if you're the sort of person that really LOVES calling yourself a "foodie" then you should probably just move along. The rest of us will enjoy some burgers and beer.

I went here on St. Patrick's Day after hearing mixed reviews for quite some time. As others noted this ill fated location has changed hands quite a few times in the past couple of years.

They had a live dj, which set a more raucous tone - fine on St. Pat's but it was WAAAAY too loud. To the point where I couldn't hear my husband across the table let alone my server. Note to the owners, ear bleed level isn't necessary.

Anyway, the food made up for it - specifically my husbands Shannon sandwich - pulled pork, apples, caramelized onions and apple butter on a toasted (pan w/butter) wheat bread. OMG was the delicious! I had the fish and chips which were respectable. It was obvious they were hand made - no frozen junk - but they had spent a little too long in the fryer unfortunately.

Crowd, as to be expected on a Thursday near Lehigh, was mostly college students.

I would def go back when I'm looking for a decent inexpensive bite to eat in this neighborhood.

Love this place! Parking is an effort but the food, the staff and the prices make it all worth it!

Cheap beer, good drinks, wings and a patty melt all conspired to make for a happy treat. The new chef is wonderful, I looked forward to my leftovers!

It's great for couples, families, groups and the environment is great!

As a restaurant/bar, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised. It's certainly nothing I would buy a postcard over, but the food is reasonably priced and tasty. As for the beer selection, it's wide -- but not very deep. Next time I'll probably opt for a seat at the bar instead of a table, because our server seemed perplexed by our inquiries regarding the drink menu.

As the closest thing to a "club" on the Southside once the sun goes down, it's not a scene I would willingly step foot into sober (I once tried it and then nearly spent the rest of the night looking for someone to sell me antidepressants), but it has a certain charm to it if you're already well into your evening and are looking for a free place to dance, and given the volume of the clientele, the bartenders are pretty speedy and polite. Downsides: You will unintentionally be molested by (and molest) everyone you pass because it's that packed on the weekends (a 20 foot walk will take you about ten minutes), but it's an even trade for a fun, sticky-floored shindig.

Every year I've been here, this place has had a different name and ownership. First Bridgeworks, then Lehigh Pub, now Molly's. Thankfully, I have a feeling that the most recent installment in the East 4th Street pub saga is here to stay. I was a little hesitant when I came here for the first time, but I have to say, I'm impressed! Lehigh Pub was a bit iffy, but Molly's takes a similar concept and actually makes it work. I've been here several times since it opened and I haven't had a bad experience.

The food is more than decent. The menu is pretty diverse -- they have a whole section on the menu for vegetarian food and that alone makes me want to give them a big squishy hug. Try out the appetizers. I particularly recommend the fried zucchini sticks (yum).

All in all, it's a cozy place to get comfort food at a decent price. I know I'll be going back again.

I would say this is definitely a step of from the Lehigh Pub. The food is pretty average bar food. The burgers are pretty good, the cheesesteak is not bad.

The reason this place is getting 4 stars is the beer selection. I am a big fan of beer and it definitely makes me happy to walk into this place and see the board in back with a pretty decent list of beers (many of which are microbrews and seasonal beers). I'm pretty sure last time I was there I saw Delirium on the list. Considering this is a standard college bar, that's definitely a step up in my book.

I always come here for the hot wings. The ones here are not breaded and are very crispy. Sometimes they drown them in sauce but other times the sauce to crispy ratio is perfect.

The sandwiches are only okay. Nothing special but not bad either. The general service quality is also improved over the old Lehigh Pub.

Trivia on Thursday is pretty packed and is really fun.

Might come back to try their homemade bread pudding. Sounds expensive at $6 though.

Their chili is definitely lacking in the spices. Can't put my finger on it. The problem is more complex than "not spicy enough." Very meaty and not beany at all.

I made my first trip to the newly rebranded "Molly's" tonight, because of the $10 off $20 Groupon. I wonder if they changed the name to get away from all the 1-star reviews of the Lehigh Pub? In general, the menu looked about the same, with a few more Irish specialties. They were running a special on the pulled pork, so I got that. It was decent--nothing special, but certainly not terrible.

I was impressed by the improved draft beer selection, and I'll probably be back for their "Microbrew Monday", where all microbrew drafts and bottles are $3. During Happy Hour, appetizers are free at the bar as well.

So, in general, it's nothing too special, but the new management definitely has made some positive changes, and I'll probably be back again, which is saying something, since I wouldn't have gone again if not for the Groupon.

Molly's has had multiple faces since I started coming here in the early eighties. I was sad to see the Bridge Works go (loved the bartender Joe) but the new owner is great and moving towards a nice compromise between the Bridgeworks and the train wreck Lehigh Pub. The draught beer selection is fair even though they took DFH 60 minute off tap (the finest IPA) but the offerings are still assorted and everyone can find something they enjoy. Bottles are mixed and provide a decent select of micros. Food is improving steadily and the wings are great. Younger guys and you old dudes (you know who you are) the bartenders are hot and friendly. Chaz has an eye. Stop by and give the place a chance. South Bethlehem has another upgrade. Enjoy !

Formally Lehigh Pub, the revamp of this place has done wonders. Great beers, great deals, great food, great bartenders.

Hit it up on Mondays for Micro Mondays - all domestic microbrews (a lot to choose from!) only $3. Wednesdays are $3 import night should you favor the foreign fare.

The gravy cheese fries are totally dope and Kevin is the greatest bar tender in the area.
