Mr Leonard's Soul Food & Deli

I walked by this place yesterday and peered in the window to see an ample menu of standard corner grill type fare. Today four of my coworkers and I decided to give it a try for lunch, and it went down like this...

Cook: "Are you all here to eat?"

Coworkers: "Yeah."

Cook: "Weeell, Alright!"

Coworker #1: "I would like the fried catfish basket please."

Cashier: "We don't have catfish."

Coworker #1: "Well I'll have the steak sandwich then."

Cashier: Wrote down order and then attempted to use the 30 year old cash register that just kept beeping.

Coworker #1: Paid for meal and sat down to wait.

Coworker #2: "I would like a BLT please."

Cashier: We don't have that.

Coworker #2: "Ok. I would like the grilled cheese, fries, and a Pepsi"

Cashier: "The machine doesn't work"

Coworker #2: "Ok I'll go next door then for a drink?"

Cashier: "Yes"

Me: "I'll have the steak sandwich with cheese."

Cashier: Checked me out with assistance from Mr. Leonard.

Coworker #3: "What do you have?"

Cashier: Pointed to a list written on yellow lined note paper.

Coworker #3: "I'll have the rib tips"

Cashier: Rang up Coworker #3 successfully.

Coworker #4: Backs away from the counter, too scared to order anything.

Me and Coworker #2: Go to attached shop and buy soda and candy bars.

Cashier: Tells Coworker #1 and I that there are no steak sandwiches.

Me: I order the meatloaf, mac & cheese, and yams. Pay the difference and sit down to wait.

Coworker #1: Orders the rib tips, two side of mac & cheese.

Mr Leonard: "We don't have meatloaf"

Me: "Ok, give me the rib tips"

Finally we all got our food and decided to take it back to the office. The hot water corn pancake which accompanied all the meals was probably the driest, most flavorless cornbread I have ever tried. The rib tips were mostly rib bone and fat but the mac & cheese and yams were good. Everyone is afraid they are going to be sick and actually it's been about 30 minutes since I finished my meal and I'm not feeling that great. If the food and service were as good as their business card, they would really have something going here.
