Probably more of a 3.5 based on my meal but I'm being generous because I tasted my hubby's and I'm getting that next time. Â I got the turkey, mashed potatoes and dressing. Â He got the broasted chicken, potluck cheesy potatoes and you can get the salad bar as a side for no extra charge. Â (Seriously!? Â Yes please!) Â My turkey was really good. Â Moist, chunks of real turkey, no "loaf" or low grade poultry glob that is sliced up. Â The mashed potatoes were bland and the stuffing was nothing more than grilled bread, random veggies and dry, dry, dry. Â No seasoning either. Â I had to mix the sides together to make them edible. Â
Now the hubby's chicken and potatoes were very good. Â So good that when he kept raving, I had to shut him up because it was irritating me since I didn't have the same experience. Â Crunchy, juicy chicken, the cheesy potatoes were just as you'd want with probably a log of Velveeta with a side of coronary disease with crunched up crackers on top! Â YUM! Â They also gave us bread and they have this peanut butter spread and apple butter on the table. Â USE IT. Â It's enough to make you want to non-chalantly put it in your purse. Â If I'd known it was that good, I would've grabbed some at Hershbergers when we saw it. Â
The lines here are insane so be prepared to wait. Â We came at off peak time (so we thought...1:30pm) and it was still a 30 minute wait which isn't bad but it is SO packed in the lobby and their loudspeaker doesn't reach to the outside so you have no choice but to wait. Â We somehow lucked out and after driving around for 20 minutes, we walked in to wait with the rest of the masses and they were calling our name as soon as we walked in. Â So don't wait outside or drive around since their estimates might be a little off. Â
I'd go here again and get the broasted chicken and potluck potatoes for sure.
This was really good food and absolutely great service. Â I had the buffet on Friday night and hubby had the ribs, which didn't look all that great but tasted wonderful. Â Everything I tried on the buffet, meat loaf, chicken (the best we have had lately!), noodles, salad bar, fresh baked bread... I tried a little of everything and it was all good and served in small portions so that it could be brought out hot and fresh. Â We will be returning, if we ever get hungry again. :)
Review Source:Mrs Yoder's is a little more plain than the big 'amish' restaurants along the main tourist drag. Â Tables are covered in vinyl and there's not much breaking up the large dining area. Â The place is clean.
But - look past the simple decor. Â The food is phenomenal. Â The broasted chicken I had here was a knock out, far better than the broasted chicken at one of those mega-restaurants 10 minutes away. Â It was juicy, hot, and seasoned great. Â Blueberry pie was bursting full of blueberries, very fresh. Â My wife's date cake was delicious as well, you could taste the date and the texture of the cake was moist while not being drowned into a soggy mess. Â Kids menu is nice, very reasonable at under $5 with big portions.
Server was extremely polite and just felt more true to the Amish way. Â Prices were $1-2 less than the big name restaurants as well. Â So if you want to keep a little more money in your pocket AND get food that is equal or better, this is your stop.
