TIP as though you were at another well known "Irish" establishment, " McDonalds" has better service.  At least you might find a clean table there. The music was free and worth it. The entree was cold, after a very long wait. There is no " REAL" table service and the barmaid, hard to find.
To be fair, I've had good meals there before. Tonight, though the place seemed in a
    Constant state of falling short.

I had an asian salad and french onion soup. Both were excellent. I could have used a little more asian dressing, but I know I'm weird in how much dressing I like.

Parking is pretty saturated because of all the other businesses in the area.

Could say it was the worst service, but there was no service. Bartender was to busy flirting with girls  at bar, particularly the ones next to me.

Had to call him out to take my order, had to flag him again to get status of my order after 1/2 hour for simple bar dish. Even as he is flirting with girls next to me, he never once looked my way to see me trying to motion I wanted to check out or that I was holding my credit card. Finally had to extend myself over the bar into his path and loudly say, "close me out".

Told other bartenders I wanted to close out, but message not relayed or acted on. Not once did anyone ever check in with me. I wouldn't even give it a star except I had to.

This is a really fun place. My girl friend and I go there very often. We love live music on Friday. Never disppointing. the crowds are always good and smily. The servers are just nice people. The foods are great. I plan to go there with my friends to have a big party. A PARTY PLACE!!!

I am a sucker for an Irish bar, and this is a good Irish bar.  It is conveniently located and parking is easy.  They serve traditional Irish food and beer, the service is fine.  The place is a bit run down, but not that bad.  There seems to a bit of a towny crowd  later at night, and a after work crowd after 5pm.  Nice place, nothing is going to blow you away, but nothing bad either.

Good steak for half price on Monday and Sunday.  Not sure it would be worth $30 otherwise. Service had a lot to be desired.

Great little pub. Good Guinness (coming from an Irish girl that visits family across the pond frequently- this means something). Buy a drink and get a free taco on Sundays! Can't beat that! Great service.

Great atmosphere! Came here late-night on a Wednesday - Andrea Pais was warbling sweet serenades (beautifully, of course) - shared a beer and a burger with a friend. The burger was a bit dry and average but what do you expect? It's pub grub. The server was real nice.

I'm not so put off by the Irish/Australian mix; it makes sense! Get your prisoners from Ireland, and ship them to Australia...it's the British way!

We came in for happy hour with a large group (10+.) The place wasn't too crowded and we were seated and taken care of right away. Beer was reasonably priced, and there was a large sized selection - way more on tap than you would think for a strip mall pub/bar. The menu wasn't bad - we mostly went with appetizers....and here is where things get weird..

Potato skins stuffed with mac and cheese. I had to try them just because, and turns out they were pretty good!

All and OK, a decent place. Nothing to incredible that really stood out, but I'll probably be back a time or two in the near future.

    Will be back, would recommend.

This review only pertains to Ned Devine's happy hour, which I think is fantastic.  First of all, it starts at some un-godly early hours and goes until about ~8pm.  Cool points.  Not only do they offer specials on beers, cocktails AND food, but each night has its own special feature, such as 80s night or trivia night.  Some people might roll their eyes at "another local bar trying to draw in a crowd" but I think Ned Devine's pulls it off well.  Their food isn't bad, either .... they do a mix of Irish and Australian fare, in addition to your regular bar-food staples.  So far, I've had the nachos and the gyro pizza ... I would order both again.

I would pretty much only pop in here for their happy hour or to get a quick drink.  I haven't been here on the weekends, but the good thing is, this location is very large and spacious.  There is a big bar, many tables, a stage for live music and a small dance floor.

They get an extra star for having Buzztime trivia (but you have to ask them to put it on one of the TVs; they don't have it constantly playing, which will probably discourage some Buzztime trivia fanatics).  But they gladly put it on the bar TV of my choice.

One bar tender was very friendly (the tall guy - can't remember his name).  The women working  behind the bar - not as much.  They clearly wanted to be somewhere else.  Beer selection is good, and there were several Irish men eating at the bar.  So the food must be halfway decent.

Why they're going for an Irish/Australian combo is weird to me.  The place seems to be in search of a true identity.  O'Sullivan's in downtown Herndon is better as a bonafide Irish pub.  But they don't have Buzztime.....

Meh. Does express my feelings about this place. Beer was good - of course. The Aussie meat pie was the standard issue and really nothing more. It didn't have anything better or worse to it than a pie from the frozen food section of the local shoppers.

This is a place you go to drink, party and listen to the local bands play. Food - not so much. Or even to enjoy local good beer - not so much.

    Hmm..this place was...interesting.

The people watching took the cake, but first let me describe the bar.  What do you have on tap, I asked.  Well, most of our lines are down (on a Friday night), so why don't you tell me what you want.  Honey, you don't have what I want, I'm trying to pick the least bad [sic; I really did say that] beer on your list.  Blank stare.  After seeing from afar that half appeared to be of the Miller Lite genre I got a little more specific.  What non-'American piss water' do you guys have? I inquired.  An Irish ale (tasted like they had literally poured water into the beer) or Boddington's.  Ok, at least Boddington's is drinkable.  But wait...isn't this place an Irish-Australian pub?  Is an English ale Irish or...  Nevermind.

This place draws a unique crowd.  If you're looking to do a sociology case study on where the division of Washington, DC suburbs and bumfuck Virginia lies, this is your spot.  My favorite was the tall lanky cowboy in a Stetson and Wranglers...who was drinking PBR.  Give it a second...let that image sink in.  Yes, hello, oxymoron.  Also, hello, moron.  His competition included a 6'5" dude wearing a plaid button up shirt sized XS that had probably been sewn onto his biceps to be so tight.  And a duo of girls on crutches.  All that mixed with the overabundance of 40+ers grinding each other on the dance floor and it certainly became an evening to remember, whether you wanted to or not.

We heard Wired and Burnt Sienna play and they truly were the only redeeming things about this place.  Maybe that's why there was an $8 cash-only cover.  Wired's main singer was on American Idol or some similar singing show.  Extra points for them because of their super good bass player (maybe my company for the evening was a Wired groupie).  Burnt Sienna had perhaps the most talented amateur singer I've ever heard and the group stepped out on a ledge with some of their choices.  My favorite song of the evening: Biggie and Elton John combined.  I'm still not sure if it really worked for me, but A for effort, most wouldn't have even tried.  It's a shame good bands have to play at shitty venues.  Isn't there an audience for this in DC...or are there just not enough MIWNLFs in DC proper?

Ned Devine's is the go-to happy hour place for most folks who work out here in Herndon. It's a decent sized space with reasonable prices and friendly staff. They actually have Boddington's on tap, so that is a HUGE plus in my book for a pub in this area. I guess you could classify it as the Irish dive bar for corporate folks here in the area, which is not a bad thing. Trivia nights are challenging and fun with groups, so definitely check those out if you get a chance. The food selection is not bad, and their chicken fingers are actually good. Give it a shot if you're in the area and want to grab a pint and have some decent food while you're at it.

Take two cultures not known for producing great cuisine (Irish, Australian) and mix in lousy service and what do you get?  Oh, right...

Just too much going on, all the way around.  Menu trying to go a lot of different places (steak and bacon pie, I can't even fathom that) although the beer selection was nice.  Ended up getting a steak.  When I had to explain to the waitress what "black and blue" meant for having it cooked, um, that should have been a clue...

We also ended up ordering another pitcher of beer as soon as she dropped one off.  Because myself and my friend had managed to kill it right around the time she dropped the other one.  And it was Guinness, we weren't exactly making great headway on the beer.

Lousy pub trivia too, really lazy.  Handing out a sheet of paper and then just disappearing?  Blech.

Karaoke later wasn't terrible.  But crappy service, crappy bar trivia, crappy food on a not even busy Wednesday night?  Pass.

Decent local Irish Pub.  I come here for live music every so often.

I needed to get out last night, and grab a pint of some decent beer so I decided to walk over to Ned's.  A pint of Smithwicks and Guinness later...ahhhh.

Started with the Buffalo Wings, and they were decently meaty with some decent spice.  The only bummer was we waited about 15 min for the, but the server did inform us kitchen was really busy, so I'm okay with that.

I got the mini pot pies as I usually do, they were a little over done, the veggie pot pie was mostly mashed potato's which I don't remember.  The steamed veggies on the side were perfectly cooked.  My friend got a burger which he ordered medium and came out very well done and his fries were soggy.

A non happy hour Guinness was $5.75.  All of the Irish food is decent and the sandwiches are pretty solid.  I'd stay away from the burgers, never had one that was not cooked beyond recognition.

Two and a half stars, came too late for trivia or kitchen fixin's. Sound-proofing is pretty good. They were playing top 40 hits at a reasonable volume on the patio speakers, with nary a hint of aural interference from the karaoke caterwauling going on inside. Lots of TVs tuned to different things (sports, news, some local channel playing a telenovela), a few with closed captioning turned on and some not. I longingly peered through the little window to the Aussie half. Standard pub pickings on tap, though the Flying Dog IPA tasted different than I remembered. Bartender wasn't horribly difficult to flag down, but also not particularly friendly. Drunks dancing up front by the stage. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the experience as much sober, and not at all if not for the hilarious, blustery MC.

I've driven past this place for almost two years when I visited Herndon for work. Yesterday I arrived at Dulles pretty late, and went out at 9:30 to try and find some food. The pub is not much more than a mile from my hotel.

Ned's was open (my first choice was closed at 9 on Sundays), so I went in figuring to get some standard pub fare and a couple of decent pints.

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

First of all, I was greeted very warmly by the young guy behind the bar. Despite his NY Giants jersey, I reciprocated the welcome and sat down.

"Kilkenny on tap?" Sure, bring me a pint and a glass of water, please.

"Is the kitchen still open?" Yes, sir, full menu until 10, and tonight is our "half price steak" night.

I ordered an 8 oz filet mignon with a baked potato. For $15.

At that price, I wasn't expecting much, but it came out perfectly cooked - medium with a slight char on the outside. Tender and flavorful, it reminded me of the quality of steak I'd get at Texas Roadhouse (another purveyor of decent steaks at reasonable prices).

Paired with delicious broccoli and carrots (obviously fresh and cooked perfectly) and my potato, I was in heaven. For $15.

I ate my steak and veggies, drank two pints, and left thinking that I'm an idiot for not trying Ned's much sooner.

This place is 'ok' for happy hour.

Food is good, with the irish food choices a nice change from the other chains.  The mini pot pies are really good, you can pick 3 of several to sample.

I rating this two stars because the service has never been great, it's always smokey outside on the porch (which would be so nice to sit outside, but it basically is their smoking section).

I came here last night with some friends for Trivia Night - none of us had been before but we figured we'd give it a try.

For a Wednesday night the place was pretty lively. Mostly business folk and older crowd, but there were some young professionals and locals here as well. We requested to be sat next to where the trivia was, but we found out later we were at the opposite end of where trivia was being held. Whoops.

Our waitress was one of the most off-putting people I've ever encountered. She wasn't rude, but you could tell she was in an awful mood and she was often short with us when asking a question. But she delivered our drinks and food (mostly) okay so I can't complain.

Apparently in addition to Trivia night it's also Aussie BBQ night and Karaoke night on Wednesdays. I guess you can't blame a bar for packing in the activities on a weekday. They had a happy hour food menu but no drink menu, and no drink specials which was kind of lame especially for a bar.

As for the drinks, my friend said her Blue Moon tasted kind of off - and we all agreed after a taste. I'm not sure what it was...maybe it was because it was missing the orange or something, I have no idea. I got a Magner's cider draft which was pretty good...until I found white flecks of something at the bottom of my glass. I got another one, and the same thing was at the bottom...but not on the bottom of anyone else's glass. So I suppose it was just a Magner's draft thing. It was kind of gross though...

Most of us ordered off of the BBQ menu including myself. I was definitely not impressed, and I'm not a hard person to please when it comes to food. I got the brisket sandwich with their "kick ass" sauce (which is supposed to be their spiciest). Let's just say the fries were the highlight. Basically, they took strips of dried steak (london broil is what it reminded me of) and poured some god awful sweet BBQ sauce on it. I ended up trading with my boyfriend who got the chicken tenders - which were good (but, yknow, it's kind of hard to screw those up).

Anyway, trivia was fun but not fun enough to make me come back and spend another $22 bucks on a crappy sandwich and two drinks with weird stuff in it.

Oh, I forgot to mention - the air vent was leaking all over me the entire time. Hooray.

I've read the bad reviews of Ned's, and I'm not going to refute anyone's personal experiences.  I happen to really the like the place, and here's why:

It's a bar.  And a bar that changes it's mood and theme nightly to make the most of its location and the people in the neighborhood.  Can't blame them for that.  I wouldn't go there to eat and not drink.

The bar food is good. Wings, curry fries, those Aussie sausage rolls, etc.  Great? No.  But good.  I suggest getting the wings well done.

Clean taps and cold beer.  Plus a decent selection.  Still not sure why they don't have orange slices for Blue Moon, but I'm over the beer and the argument.

The bartenders are great!  Maybe if it's for those at the bar only most of the time, but I've almost always had good service.  John's the best.

Cool crowd.  Locals from the area and an after work crowd.  Depending on the night of the week, Ned's draws a crowd from a pretty wide area.

Even though I moved out of the area, I'll hit up Ned's when I'm back in town.

    A strip mall Irish-Australian "pub" in Herndon.  A strip mall.  Irish + Australian "pub."  In Herndon.  Is it any wonder this place was dead, and on Football Day in America nonetheless?  {{chirrp, chirrp, chirrp}}

Also, if you're going to attempt to be an Irish-Australian combo pub, just go for it and really *be* an Irish-Australian combo pub.  This place is literally divided in two with a wall between the "Irish" half and the "Australian" half, and neither comes anywhere close to replicating either country's charming watering holes.  Not to mention ND's take on curry fries would make any self-respecting Celt cry with shame.

Thanks to s-über-ban friends for inflicting this joint on us.  Even the normally dynamic duo of football and beer couldn't save it.  I'm pretty sure I heard Brendan Behan rolling in his grave.

Came here around 11pm last night after a long day of work just to get some beer and dinner.  We sat at booth near the bar  for over ten minutes of  waiting for a waitress even after asking two bar maid for a server, one said the waitress is in the kitchen but does not bother to go tell her we were sitting there.  I was watching.  All 10 staffs in the bar/restaurant were busy flirting and dancing with each other behind the bar to go tell the waitress that there is a table waiting for them.

If u are not white, u don't get service.  My coworker and I walked out after finally getting a waitress.   I feel sorry for the waitress, but the rest of the staff just didn't care.

Will never come back here again.  Service is nowhere to be found.  I have been here with other White coworkers years ago and was treated okay.

Huge bar with Irish/Aussie food offerings.  Not sure what that really entails, but it's essentially bar food.  I was looking for Kangaroo burgers, but they didn't have any. *sad face*

Had their Shepard's Pie which was ok, but it wasn't filling and it took FOREVER to cook.  I would recommend sticking with their sandwiches on the backside of the menu.  All my colleagues got their sandwiches and it looked tasty (maybe because I was still hungry even after I finished my Shepard's Pie).

No really happy hour specials for the after work affairs, but people still seem the flock here.  They have a huge stage for live bands.

And last but not least - HALF PRICE STEAK MONDAYS!  A decent tasting steak for $12?  SIGN ME UP!

Yes, I know Herndon has a scant selection of afterhours spots for the 35 and under set to have drinks and socialize.

Yes, I know that sometimes people don't want to go to the city.

And yes, I know that its close to a lot of people's jobs and is really convenient because its close to the toll road.

However, this place is a tall, frosty glass of FAIL in virtually every category. How so? you may ask. Well let me tell you.

Food: The only somewhat palatable items on the menus are foolproof items (chicken tenders) and even then they have a tendency to ruin those from time to time. I've had the beef stew (forgettable, flavorless, lukewarm, and tasted like it was straight from the can), popcorn shrimp (flimsy, again tasteless), teriyaki chicken (one part of the chicken skewer was undercooked, another part of it very rubbery). Everything I've had on the menu, save for the chicken tenders caused my taste buds to revolt and proclaim their hatred of me for subjecting them to yet another item on the menu.

Drinks: TERRIBLE! I'm not a beer drinker so i won't comment there but their mixed drinks, special drinks, even the basic soda or juice & alcohol drinks leave a lot more to be desired. I used to be able to rely on the 'tight snatch' as a safe staple but the last time i went it was more like a loose fanny. I guess the bartender had a "eff effort" kind of night that go-round. All the other drinks were not mixed well and were very watered down more times than I could count.

Evening Entertainment: Horrendous. I guess they print out a bunch of band ads in craigslist, print them out, cut each one out, drink a gallon of watered-down drinks, blindfold each other and just randomly pick at will. I've been to two weekend evening events, sorry to say they were quite a snore. Well, the times I wasn't yelling from afar in anger that the band decided to deflect from the covers they were performing and create a horrifying mesh up (each time with disastrous results). Can I also say how much of a travesty it is for a place miles out from the beltway to be charging cover? So I have to pay to be disappointed? I know its just $5 but its a recession, every buck counts!!

Service: I've had an inattentive server more than once here. However, to be fair there are some good members on staff who are helpful and very friendly. Its more or less a game of roulette, however.

Overall Crowd: Can I be honest and say this is one very ugly bar? Oh sure you might encounter a looker from a distance but hop  off your stool and take a walk by them and steal casual glance at them again. More often than naught, you will be disappointed. A few times I thought there was some sort of Old Spice Appreciators meetup group convening adjacent to the Cougars Anonymous meetup group.

why did i suffer through this torture a multitude of times? Not because I love all you yelpers out there so much to run myself through the ringer like a willing test subject (although i do, i truly, truly do love you all) but because i have some friends that seem to love giving that place their patronage. I don't know why, there's better places closer to work, and their themed nights aren't that fun either.

I've since decided to ban the place. Never. Again.

First of all, there was a strong smell of urine when we dropped by for happy hour!  It was such an overwhelming smell I could barely concentrate on anything else - yuck!  Happy hour drink specials were good however, the food was god awful.  My buddy and I ordered some appetizers and we got sick from them!  The Aussie rolls came out cold....and the chicken skewers were a fail.  I'd give it another go but ONLY for the hh drink specials.

I went here to watch a Giants game a few weeks ago. I walked into the bar with my black "neanderthal" boyfriend (as Nate would probably put it), and I felt like a piece of cinnamon surrounded by trailer trash. Do their servers even shower? I saw Miss Piggy eating off of the brunch buffet with her fingers and to top it off she sucked her fingers before going back to work behind the bar, um disgusting. Are you that hungry? As if that wasn't enough to turn me off, I over heard a fellow mixie chick talking about how she hates black men in front of my boyfriend and I. Some things you just don't say out loud in a business. Have some class! We all know that there are people who are racist and ignorant but keep it to yourself! Duh!

Anyhoo let's talk about food shall we??? I ordered the fried chips old bay style and they were very good. My boyfriend ordered the wings and he said they weren't that great. The beer was reasonably priced and they had game day specials. So based off of the food and beer specials, I give this place 2 stars.

Well, this business may be an ok restaurant during the day, but you may want to think twice about attending at night. My friend and his girlfriend went on a Thursday night (dance night) and found Ned's to be ok...until someone decided to smack my buddy's girl on the butt. I personally saw the guy miss the first time, then follow her towards the restroom to try again. I said something to my friend and when she came back she mentioned the incident to him. That is when things went wrong.
He approached the guy who smacked her butt and asked him to apologize. The guy became hard all of a sudden and we soon realized why. The club soon became everyone vs us because everyone at the club was black and we were white. Even the bouncers (who were black) stood behind the guy who thinks smacking girls butts in a bar is ok.
Long story short, my buddy got literally thrown out for standing up for his girlfriend and doing what a man in a relationship should do.
My advice, if you like to have your girl pawed by a bunch of neanderthals head to Ned Devine's in Herndon in the evenings. Just make sure to bring some friends because chances are if there is an issue the choices will be clear cut; black or white. And if you are white you are the minority.
    This atmosphere was very sad.

I'm in between 3 and 4 stars. I'm leaning to three because the portion sizes were a little randomly small.

We got there before 9 so there was no cover and we still got to hear a fun band play later who were actually really great. We went to the right side so I guess the Irish bar side cause eeeew smoking? Why stink, right?

I ordered the cajun chicken penne which was large and delicious, my mom got a aussie beef and mushroom pot pie which she loved and my dad got the shepherds pie which he liked ... but it was small. And we ordered the scallop potatoes which were delicoius! But there were only 6? So that was kind of like uh, where's the rest homeskillet?

The service was friendly and it was busy... but it still took a little long for drink refills and our server seemed a little TOO laid back. He was slow as all hell! Atleast they had some football on so I didn't mind as much.

We got there around 8:40 and left about 2 hours later. We didn't really linger either so if you're looking for something quick seek elsewhere.

I didn't see any rude bouncers but we had a booth and they were mostly around the dance floor and bar area. And when we left they said have a nice night and opened the door for us, so I can't say they were rude. I don't know the one we went to... I think it was herndon? We took the dulles toll road to get there.

Fortunately (for Ned Devines), Ned Devines is the nearly the only thing to do in Herndon. Fortunately (for Ned Devines), the clientelle doesn't seem care if they can't navigate the crowds of cougars. Fortunately (for everyone), they usually have good live music.

This is a bar of necessity, and they do a decent job. But seriously, if you're a reasonably good looking man, you will be attached by cougars. All. Night. Long. And you will leave smelling like an ashtray.

For some reason, they think an 8$ cover charge is necessary. Um, really?

Ned Devines Herndon is a party/special occiassion location, only. Not  a regular night out.

Oh and Tina R. is right. If you went to school in Loudoun or Fairfax Co, be ready for a high school reunion. No thanks.

    Couple of things...
    1. If this is an Irish bar then I am a Monkeys uncle!
It is a cool bar, the locals are very friendly (even taught me how to play poker) but it is an American bar in a strip mall.
    2. If this is an Australian bar then Aussies shag Sheep and are crap at Cricket :)
Neither of which is true, there are rumours about the Sheep but no confirmed evidence.

Enjoy this place for what it is, an oasis of beer in what is the drought of Reston/Herndon

Don't expect too much and you will have a great time.

I was there on a Tuesday night so did not have the pleasure of meeting the much discussed 'bouncers'

The only problem I have with this place is I simply can never remember the name.

Usually I am not a fan of Filthy McNasty formula McIrish strip mall pubs. This is one of the best Filthy McNasty formula McIrish mall pubs I have been to in a while - for three very important reasons:

    1. Football. Yes. They show it. The real stuff. I guess I was one of four people in all of Metro DC interested in the Leeds Doncaster play off last season. Ned's were showing it.
    2. Two bars in one. The left hand side is Austrailan ( and smoking). for those of you that do not know what an Australian bar looks like - let me attempt to describe the ambience for you: It has tables, chairs and sells beer.
    3. The food - it is not crap.

My team at work and I went here for a team luncheon and well, was extremely disappointed.

I ordered the Roasted Chicken Dinner and well, it was dry, VERY dry. I had to eat it with three helpings of gravy, I felt like I was swallowing sand as the chicken went down my throat. My other co-worker ordered their crab cake salad and she got more cake than crab, it was so bad, she had to send it back. She then ordered their soup of the day which was the Chicken Rice and Veggie, she said it was "better than the crab cake salad, but I won't come back here again". Not to totally trash this place, but three of the orders turned out horribly; however, not everything that was ordered was bad (hence the two stars).

We ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer...and surprisingly, it was good, I couldn't stop eating it. We also ordered their buffalo wings, those were okay, eatable, but nothing to rave about.

Now onto service. First thing first, the place was NOT busy at all and I made reservation two weeks before the date and the day before, I even confirmed our reservation, so you would think that when we walked in at noon, right on time, there would be a table set up for us, but NO they weren't ready and we had to wait for them to set things up for us. UNACCEPTABLE! It didn't stop there, we all ordered, and our orders were confirmed, but when the food came out, one of my co-worker was left without food, thank-goodness she ordered a wrap or else she would had been sitting there watching us eat our food.

I'm sure happy hour would be good here because it's a pub surrounded by a ton of businesses, but to come here for a sit down meal, I would not recommend it... such a disappointment, I rather to go Chuck E Cheese next time...

Very cool place - wouldn't know it existed till you actually got down into the club.

Great place for dancing! Drinks can get expensive - pre-game with a designated driver and it will a good time!

Ned Devine's is one of the only places for "nightlife" in the Reston/Herndon area. Aside from Reston Towncenter, there really isn't much in the way of nightlife, and there certainly aren't any Irish bars in the area that are worth going to, if at all. Ned's is what it is: a suburban Irish bar where locals can come and de-stress after work, and 20-somethings can come to hang out on weekends. It's nothing special, but they serve a bunch of good Irish/English brews on tap, and have a spacious place. They are generally pretty packed Thurs - Sat nights, and you're likely to make conversation with someone of the opposite sex - desirability of said person is, well, a case by case basis, lol.

If you live in Herndon/Reston, Ned's is certainly worth a visit on a night to make new friends or just enjoy a good pint. It's reasonably priced and worth a quick visit. Pales in comparison to DC Irish bars, but for Herndon/Reston it's worth a visit.

If you'd talked to me about Ned's 12 hours ago, you'd have seen a 1 star rating.  After dark on weekends, it's packed and so not the laid back Irish pub experience that I prefer.

However, my husband and I dropped in here for lunch because we were running errands at the Clocktower and oh my.  The pubgrub is actually quite good!  Hub had a burger and I had a hot roast beef sandwich.  The fries were outstanding.  The service was good for pub service and a bunch of different college football games were on.

Overall, it was a pretty chill place during the day.  I still don't dig its after dark personality, though.

MY friend and colleague (and gourmet chef) has been talking this place up especially on Monday's as Monday is "1/2" price steak night. Finally took him up on the hype and went to a "team " meeting he had organized.
Well, 1/2 price may be good, but the steaks themselves are only worth the 1/2 price anyway. Slightly better then a Sizzler variety.  We ordered two appertizers french fries which no one can mess up and some Saugage pastry thing which had lots of promise when I heard it mentioned, but failed to live up to the promise when I tasted it.

This is a good place to eat if you enjoy drinking beer (I do) - apparently over 22 variety. Its in your typical Northern Virginia Strip Mall setting but what else is new.

Ned's in Herndon is a good place to go for happy hour after work.  The drinks are pretty good and you can get just about any shot you can name without the waitstaff looking at you like they've never heard of it.  The food is not all that great although they do have fantastic pecan pie, served warm a la mode.  Must try!  The service is hit or miss.  You either get an awesome server who is there to get you a refill, or you're sitting there waiting on a drink.
There is most def. a younger 20's crowd there on the weekends but overall Ned's is a cool place, and they play good music and have a dance floor.  The one in Sterling is better.  Never been to the third location.

This place has a split personality. The "Ned Kelly" part of the name refers to the Australian themed bar you'll see if you enter from the left.. The "Ned Devine" part of the name speaks to the Irish pub that you see when you enter the right a spacious Irish Pub awaits you. There is also a pretty large patio for when the weather is nice.

One of my favorite local bands plays here-- Gonzo's Nose. So, I have been here more than a few times. The cover is not super steep, the choices of beer on tap is decent and the staff is relatively fast and friendly.

The food is a mix of American, and Irish offerings. The
Guinness Beef Stew is quite tasty!
