the reviews must be from investors.  After a long awaited weekend getaway with long time friend, we decide to go to The Nest.  We made dinner reservations thru Open Table, arrived and were seated at a great table by the fireplace.  The music  was so horrible we were laughing at dinner, and many times, thought - is he singing THAT? completely butchered "Walk this Way" and as he sang "Pretty Woman" was so lazy and mumbling, he kept saying "Pretty Wo,ooh"   - Timing was awful, and awkward silence gaps in music of sometimes 4-5 minutes made me embarrassed for the owner and the lounge lizard.  It's any entertainer's fear that the energy will die, and it did several times - people were staring at each other "what's going on?" I have no idea why there are great reviews.  We just wanted to dance, the lack of any rhythm or energy.  Complete disappointment.

What a blast!  Not sure why I never knew about The Nest when vacationing in Palm Desert before.  The crowd was great and the music fabulous as well. They had the main piano singer, as well as a drummer and lead guitarist.  Then the owner Kevin took the mike with some great tunes--started with Daft Punk, which was unexpected and really fun.

The average age is probably about 60, but with the way everyone was dancing they were all pulling out their inner-30-something.  By the time we got there the place was packed.  Two local woman sitting up behind the band let us share their table--thanks ladies!  The crowd is mostly local and really friendly.

This place is on my "must-do in Palm D" list from now on.

Went for an 8pm dinner. Very friendly staff, seated immediately, even though we were a little early. Very eclectic crowd, unusual set up, in that the dining room and bar are next to each other with no dividing wall. This means at a certain time, the band will be playing and the bar will be hopping, when you are eating - some might not like that, I thought it was rather exciting. Plus a clown will be lurking, perhaps looking at you through the window...all in all, rather fun. Food wise, had the calamari, very nice, good crispy batter, not at all greasy, with 2 dips, including a rather garlicky one, very delicious, as well as a tomato based dip. My friend had a wedge salad, which she really enjoyed, said the dressing was very good. Chose an entree from the Light Menu, Dodi's Pasta, spaghetti with spicy sausage, it was just right, nicely cooked pasta, had a good bite to it, which I like. My dining companion had the sole picata, she wasn't over keen on it, she thought it a little greasy, buttery. Lyonaisse potatoes were not good, tasted like they had been cooked a while back. Veggies were fine. Had a split of champagne (Piper Heidsieck) which was good value for $16, $8 a glass for real champagne is pretty good. As it was Monday's, some wines were half off, not all. I had a Nestini cocktail, quite strong! Pretty good though. All in all, an enjoyable night, would definitely go back to try some other dishes, and would recommend this place for sure. Would rate this 3.5 stars overall.
