We were staying at the La Quinta hotel across the parking lot from 99 this past weekend, and were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. The woman at the hotel's front desk recommended 99. I had never heard of it before, and she described it as being similar to an Applebee's. I've never liked Applebee's, so I was skeptical of 99, but it was convenient so we gave it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is fresh. I had a turkey and havarti sandwich from their Lunch Express menu. The sandwich was very good and the bread was great. It came with a choice of side, and I chose the salad. The lettuce was really fresh and the dressing was good. I would definitely go back to another 99.
Review Source:I'm a Truck driver from Ca and I bring produce to the Chelsea Market all the time for about the last 8 years. I have been going to the 99 Resturant about once every 4 to 5 months and have enjoyed it every time until today. Â First of all are waitress acted like we were bothering her because I don't like their ice tea so I order a hot tea set up and two glasses if ice and two tea bags, when I asked for a second one I only got 1 tea bag and one glass of ice, I was afraid to ask for another one because it seemed to be such a effort on her account. Â Then I went to order a dish I always get and they no longer had it on the menu so I ordered the steak and Mac and cheese with shrimp scampi and my husband order the chicken Mac and cheese. Â When I got my order I started eating my steak which was cooked perfect and then I tryed the Mac and cheese and I was eatting chicken not shrimp, called the waitress over who rolled her eyes like "now what" does she want and I told her that it was chicken not shrimp and she claims that that dish is not made with chicken only shrimp and I showed her. Â She said she was sorry and took it away and I didn't get it back until we were all done eatting so I asked it to go. Â What was support to be a good realaxing meal not in a truck stop ended up being a expencive uptight Togo meal, we will never go back there again.
Review Source:The food here is pretty good and the service is quick. Â The location is odd as it is on the back street and most people in the area wouldn't know there is a 99 here. Â
During football season, your College Football Saturday night will be interrupted by preseason Bruins games.
There is plenty of parking which is a plus.
Yes, it's true. Â I'm reviewing the 99 Restaurant (Great Meals, Great Deals... as per the TV commercial).
My parents stay at the La Quinta across the way, and since we're all sweaty, tired, cranky, and disgusting, and my smartphone couldn't tell me that there was a Panera down the street, so we went here for lunch on a hot, humid day.
Sure, it's a chain, and sure, it's a value-based chain, and a little hokey. Â Sure, it's not somewhere you'd take clients to impress them per se, but we don't care.
I don't eat dairy, but I ordered the lunch special Caprese sandwich without mozzarella and asked for additional tomatoes, with a side of fries. Â I was expecting it to suck. Â It didn't suck. Â It was REALLY FREAKING GOOD. Â The bread was warm, the basil was fresh, and the balsamic dressing was yummy.
It's a very humble place, the employees are hard-working, take-pride-in-their-jobs type. Â I appreciate that.
We stopped in today for lunch/dinner, around 2.30pm. Very surprised to find that there was only one item on the menu for a vegetarian, which turned out to be little more than a cheese and lettuce sandwich. The waitress was very scattered and got our order wrong, forgot items and although tried to substitute the forgotten with other items we didn't want, she really didn't seem to be "with it" at all. We were very disappointed and surprised as we usually have a good experience in the 99. Won't be hurrying back to that particular location.
Review Source:I have been to so many 99's it's not even funny. I would have to admit of all the corporate chain restaurant out there, (TGIF, AppleBees, et al) Â the 99 has their act together. This location in Somerville is no exception. Food was great. I love my steak and never had an issue here or at any other 99.
Review Source:I give the Somerville 99 5 stars because of the service. All 99's are pretty much the same, but the staff here is great.I go here usually on Saturday nights to drink tall Bud Light drafts and scarf down popcorn.Judy and Pami, the Sat.night barstaff, are incredible. No matter how packed the bar is they always find me a seat and if they can't they will bring a beer and popcorn over to me.Class Acts! This place is a great place to watch the B's or any kind of hockey as crowd is extremely knowledgible.Very relaxed atmosphere at the bar,the regulars are always friendly.
Review Source:I have been here twice and both times I have enjoyed my dinner very much. On both occasions, I ordered the chicken fajitas which are really good. It was a grilled juicy chicken breast, red and green bell peppers, and onions server on a hot plate. They are really good. One also gets a plate with shredded cheese, lettuce, salsa, and sour cream. This past time, I received a lot more cheese than was needed for five fajitas but I am not complaining. I got five warm tortillas and had enough chicken, peppers, and fixings to fill all five tortillas to the top. My parents got the panko-crusted cod and the All-American Burger and both were very pleased and satisfied with their meals. My nephew got a bacon cheeseburger and fries and he could not even finish the burger, it was so big. Luckily, I was able to finish the burger for him and I thought it was very tasty and good. Â I made my fajitas a full meal by getting a salad and a dessert. The salad was good, the dressing was a little too cold for me but it was good. I got an apple crisp something for dessert and it had whipped cream and caramel. I really enjoyed it. The prices are very reasonable and our waitress was very friendly, helpful, and polite. She even brought my nephew a kids-sized hot fudge sundae for dessert, which he devoured. Overall, it was a very nice evening out.
Review Source:Worst experience. EVER. This food is so gross that if I had a dog I wouldn't feed it to them. The entire menu is fried. I tried to order a grilled chicken wrap but it must have thrown them because when I got my food (which was cold) it was fried and I had to send it back. There is nothing appealing or appetizing about this place and I needed to take a shower after we left. Please for all things that are sacred in this world find someplace, any place, else to eat.
Review Source:Ok, I don't usually GO to chain restaurants, nevermind Yelp about them, but I seriously had the best takeout experience of my whole life last week and I have to share.
On my way to the gym I decide to order one of their low calorie entrees to pick up on my way home. I call and ask for an out time of 3:15. At 3:30 I walk in the door and this incredibly nice lady with glasses (wish I got her name) appears with my food and says "I had a FEELING you would be late, so I held off on ordering your food!". Awesome, I think. Then she goes "I put two honey mustards in there cause really I don't think one is ever enough. Did you know we have other low calorie dressings too?" She then takes out a pen and paper and WRITES DOWN all of their low cal dressings for me and hands it to me. "Now I packed your hot and cold food separately cause I HATE when temperatures mix." I take my food and then she says "I don't even know why you are getting a Fit For You meal, you're already thin!!!"
Well jimminy christmas, awesome 99 takeout lady, you just made my goddamn day.
This place is in a perfect location. Â We stayed at the Laquinta write across the parking lot, so that was convenient. Â I had probably the one of the best clam chowders the whole time I spent up north and I visited the Coast of Maine too. Â Maybe it was from there, but I loved it.
I had the hot boneless buffalo wings and they were really great. Â Nice and crispy...and don't forget hot.
My friends really enjoyed this place and we went there for dinner the next evening. Â I believe we may have closed out happy hour as well. :) Â It was a very good time!
Four stars because my guy friend LOVES this place. Â I swear he sings the theme song (the 99.. it's got what you're looking for) at least weekly. Â
The 9.99 meal deal is fabulous.. he loves the tips and tenders- great portion of steak tips and chicken fingers, and they are always generous with bringing out buffalo, bbq, and honey mustard sauces.
Yes, its a chain, and yes, its cheesy, but its cheap, its good, and they have popcorn!
The food is adequate, nothing special. The appetizers are actually better than the meal. The drinks are pleasant, nothing fancy. Decent all around nice local feel with a lot of local team photo's all about. We were seated in 10 minutes and served by some nice ladies that were more than able to keep 10 people happy.
Review Source:The 9's ... is just THAT kind of Restaurant... more of a PUB!!! ... So with that said.. yes it isnt the BEST EVER place you will ever go... but it is 100% better than the newly renovated 9's in C-Town... sorry but true!
Although, stay clear of the bar scene there because its been tired since the late 80's... or at least it seems that way.
Hopefully this is the one I went to. Â I stayed @ the La Quinta and this is the closet restaurant around. Â I got take out from here and the pasta was decent. Â It was fairly busy when I went to pick up and the service was friendly enough. Â Decent pricing. Â This is the 1st time I have tried this chain as its on the East coast. Â Maybe eating there would have been different? I'm not sure.
