I came here for the Sharon Needles performance on 10/2 and I was not disappointed. It's a nice little place, hole in the wall gay bar/dance club/drag club. It's cozy and a great place to go with friends to relax and tip drag queens with dollar bills.

I saw advertisements for $5 a plate pasta nights and Drag Bingo. The in-house drag queens are pretty raunchy and funny.

Some of Boston's best DJ's have found their way up the Lynnway to NORTHERN NIGHTS, including Jay Ine & Cliff Cunningham (Club Cafe), & Ryan Grow (dBar). From 7 - 8pm, Jose and Marcio lead popular Zumba classes, Monday through Thursday.

The kitchen, in the hands of Chef Ronni Semons-Madore, has already had some runaway hits, such is his decadent 5-cheese mac (with that golden brown topping), huge salads with chicken or steak tips (under $10!), hand-dipped chicken tenders (their own secret, spicy batter), and specials that have ran the gamut from Asian creations to Greek Avgolemono soup, and hearty stews. Friends no longer ask where I mean, when I suggest meeting for brunch. Northern Nights OWNS Sunday afternoon, where $14 includes a bloody or mimosa. Bring fresh fruit with freshly carved turkey back to the table on your second heaping platter, to pretend you're eating healthy, after that first plate of eggs, pancakes with syrup and maple butter, corned beef hash, 5-cheese mac, bagels, muffins, bacon, sausages and more. ("Yes, that was a hearty breakfast. But, this is lunch, and I'm right back on track. Another Bloody, please.")

General manager Kristy comes to Northern Nights, after tenure as Mixologist-Of-Note in clubs such as Machine (in the heart of Red Sox land). She imagineered the wildly creative martini menu, with new innovations being introduced frequently.

But, perhaps the stars of the place are the barstaff. While bartenders in other venues are busy watching TV (can't Storage Wars wait?) or diddling their cellphones, fantastically engaging Kristina keeps the guests chatting, so that a smaller crowd may still provide a very entertaining night. It seems that many of the North Shore's favorite drink-pourers couldn't make the move to Northern Nights fast enough, including Amanda (formerly at Frans and others), Marcio (beware of him when shirtless, as his abs are a registered weapon), and much-anticipated guest appearances by Nelio, the Gold Standard in smiley Brazilian hotties.

Sunday night, karaoke makes great use of Northern Nights' stage, dancefloor, lights and sound, and large flat screen TV monitors. If you've ever done karaoke with a tiny TV screen and a pair of ill-tempered bedroom speakers, you're reminded quickly of how much more fun it is, when a great host is using all the available bells and whistles to make you look and sound like a pro.

Of course, you never miss that important sporting event or dramatic season finale, as Northern Nights is more than big enough to catch the show or skip it, unfettered. I confess to the guilty pleasure of those aforementioned chicken tenders (they really are above and beyond the usual dippers) for an insane $3 (this is real chicken breast, kidz), while watching GLEE, as part of Appe-Tuesday, a half price app promotion on Tuesday nights.

Wednesday, you can make it Dinner And A Movie at 8pm, when the Zumba class wraps up. I really broke a good sweat at the Zumba class (watching them, I mean. LOL)

Saturday night, female impersonators take to the stage, entertaining locals, bachelorette parties and club-goers alike, before they turn the stage and dance floor over, for the ubiquitious weekend dance party.

Come the summer, there is a large outdoor patio. Of course, it's fenced in, so you can enjoy right there on the Lynnway, still with considerable privacy.

Northern Nights is a great addition and instant leader in the Lynn, MA nightclub scene. But, even for Bostonians, you might find that you can be at Northern Nights, safely parked in their large, lit parking lot in less time than it takes you to find a parking space downtown, in the Back Bay, or the South End. I say "Give em a try. You'll be back."
