Eclectic interior: Grandma's Saloon meets Loring Pasta Bar. The ceiling is festooned with an assortment of farm implements and vintage Coleman lanterns; the tables are covered with linen cloths and pairs of thrones flanking small tables line the windows.

I had the fig/pear/gorgonzola salad--I'd give it five stars--and the trio of gyros sliders, also very good. My husband had beef fajitas. They were excellent: tender beef done just right, well-seasoned veggies, spicy pico de gallo, guacamole, and queso fresco. He ordered a glass of old vine zin--a good value at $8. We shared a chocolate lava cake sauced with caramel and Kahlua.

Our bill came to $50 plus tip. The whole meal was a good value--pleasant decor, friendly service, and tasty food. I'll eat here again for sure!

    BREWS.

Disclaimer: This review is for the 5th Annual Casanova Beer Cave Festival which was held on April 27, 2013 at the Historic Casanova Breweries Caves.

This was one of the best beer tasting events I have attended. IT WAS AWESOME! There were 150 beers to try and a limited number of tickets sold to keep the event small enough to be able to sample each brew with ease. They had a food truck onsite - Lulu's Street Food - which was perfect for some quick and tasty grub. Oh and did I mention the admission for VIP tix were only $35, giving you an extra hour of fun. Live acoustic music created a chill atmosphere as you walked in and out of the caves. This was a bomb event and I can't wait to come back next year!

    Highlights:
    Variety of brews
    Location
    Friendly staff
    Limited tix sold
    Food truck: Lulu's Street Food

Casanova Beer Cave Festival (Hosted by The Nova Wine Bar) = So. Much. Fun.

Nova is a cozy wine bar with a unique interior and decent menu.  It's different enough to be fun, but not special enough to be considered eclectic.  Does that make sense?

We tried the puffed sweet potato "appetizer".  It's essentially sweet potato puree in puff pastry and drizzled with caramel cream cheese.  Why this isn't on the dessert menu, I'm not too sure, but it was tasty.

I tried the vegetarian "pie" (think flatbread pizza) which was topped with homemade crunchy pesto.  Yum.  The chunky pesto is what really made this sing for me.

My friend got the fajita wrap with chicken which was also good.  The "wrap" was naan bread, which sparked a conversation about why more sandwiches aren't made with naan.

Extensive wine and decent beer list, which is how a wine bar should be that is connected to a liquor store.

I think I've given this review enough "quotes".  This is a decent stop off the beaten main street path of downtown Hudson.

This is a very unique restaurant/wine bar.  The tables, chairs and decor are very special.  If you are a couple you can sit in the King & Queen chairs.

Wow, the food has excellent taste.  The Chef is amazing.

I ordered some simple "chicken and rice soup" and it was the best ever.

At some times in the year there is a view to the river.

Nova is one of those secrets you don't like to share.  The wine list is second to none.  The surroundings cozy and eclectic. The food never misses.

The wines here are well-appointed and carefully chosen.  The man-love and I shared a flight of red, a flight of white and a cheese plate here for an evening snack over the Independence Day weekend and it was great relaxation.

Be prepared to wait, though, as they do not take reservations!

I've never had a bad meal here, and in fact they've all been wonderful. Great, inexpensive wine selection.

If the Lobster Ravioli is the special, don't pass it up!

Decor is eclectic, if not overdone, but cozy and warm on a chilly night.  Love the one man band that is there on the weekends.

Went there for dinner last week.  Cozy atmosphere, nice staff and good food.  I had the 8oz filet mignon topped with gorgonzola and carmelized shallot dip and it was great.  I ordered it rare and it came rare.  My wife had a burger and it was good too.  They have a wonderful appetizer list which we need to explore.  The only complaint we had was it was cold in there.  They moved us by the fire and all was well.  Wear a sweater in the winter!
    We used a <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> coupon which cost $5 for a $25 off.  Worked great!

The Nova Wine Bar is my new favorite place to eat and drink in Hudson.   The Wine Bar abuts and is connected to/with the Casanova Liquor Store, which has been around in one form or another since the 1800s.  Given the historical provenance of the building, the wine bar's space is funky and fun, with lots of overstuffed couches, big tall chairs, and even a fireplace in the middle of the room.

You can expect an extensive list of wines by the glass and bottle.  We found a Barbera that was extra tasty.  A bonus:  if you like the wine you try, head next door after you're done and pick up a bottle from the liquor store.  They also have a very solid beer selection, and servers/bartenders are familiar with all available potables.

Food is interesting and well prepared.  The "small" cheese flight (which includes salami and nuts in addition to several cheeses) was more than enough for our group of three.  The grilled shrimp (unfortunately named "On The Barbe") is always excellent, the perfectly finished shrimp pair well with the spicy veg accompanying them.  Pizzas are crisp crust and tasty.  The crowd favorite at our last visit was the grilled Caesar salad, which featured Parmesan crusted chicken served next to half a head (yes, a head) of lightly grilled romaine.  The menu does change seasonally so you may find something different to try.

Prices are reasonable, particularly for the quality/quantity of food provided.  I love that Hudson has a wine bar like The Nova.
