I ended up at this Old Chicago one night this week after a couple of other places I was considering were closed (a lot of the sidewalks roll up at 9:00 in Olathe). Â Old Chicago stays open past midnight! Â
They're running a special right now which gets you a salad and an individual specialty pizza for $11, which is hard to beat! Â I got a Caesar and the Chicago 7 pizza, which has sausage, mushrooms, pepperoni and other tasty debris on top! Â
The salad was very good -- it's a tasty Caesar dressing -- and I also liked the Chicago 7. Â I think I've ordered the Classic at their Metcalf location a couple of times and it's OK but I found it a little bland. Â The Chicago 7 has more zip and you can kick it up loading it with chili flakes and extra parmesan. Â So I think this will be my "go to" order at Old Chicago! Â I washed it all down with a draft Free State Storm Chaser. Â It's a fine IPA with a bitter note that's a bit stronger than Ad Astra, which I also like a lot!
Service was a bit scattered when I first arrived. Â It took a while for someone to notice me sitting there, even though it wasn't crowded. Â But once I flagged down a server everything was fine. Â He was very efficient and attentive and my food arrived quickly, which is good because I was famished! Â I'll be back, especially if I'm having a food attack later in the evening!
Not long ago, when I worked close by, this was my staple to get drinks. Â I haven't been back in awhile, so all the familiar faces are gone, but was still a good time. Â The server was nice and as always the beer selection is great. Â Prices are high, but as a member of the World Beer Tour, I've gotten used to it. Â Food was fresh and delicious!
