This restaurant just wasn't all that.  I was looking for a good ethnic restaurant, and have Portuguese before, and this was basically Portuguese made from cheap bar food, covered in cheese and salt.  Definitely not worth it.  5 stars? really?  You've never been to a 5 star before have you?  If you're in the area, try the Harvest Cafe, the rail trail flatbread co., or the horseshoe pub.

FYI I had the fish cakes (ok) and the porto style sandwich for lunch (bad).

Wow! Homeless as I am, started looking into some recommendations for local grub.  Around comes my yelp compadre Ran D. With a review for Old Shoolhouse Pub, so we had to try it.  How I never knew it was there blows my mind!

Although I had a serious morning of Zumba, I took up Ran D's advice and went with the steak, eggs, rice and potato dish, but not without having an encounter with some little necks in a garlicky broth I should've been hot tub soaking in!  clams were slightly chewy, just a tad but not where it would ruin what started as a crave calming encounter.  We polished those out and shamelessly started sapping up the broth.  I should've slurped it!  Out came my steak , egg, rice and home made fries, sitting in a light and delicately spicy sauce... Ok, PERFECTO!  My hubby ordered the grilled octopus which was also slightly chewy, but oh so beautifully presented and very flavorful.  This is the kind,of Portuguese blue collar goodness you have to drive to Fall River to have!  25 years living in the area!  Who knew!  Very affordable, great food made with quality fresh ingredients that won't wreck your wallet.  Back in PR we call it "Fonda"... Thank you Ran D! On point! We're going back for dinner to try baccala... And maybe some tripe!

Get sweety-pie Jill as your server.  Adorable.   Mr. Manny - you are on to something!  So if you yelp, tell them you read it here and spread the gospel!,, and bring your breath mints, cause the garlic is intense... Yum!

A 5 star dinning experience is best when it ends off with you a little pissed off. How has this place just hid it self from me all this time? Where dose this place get off being all awesome all this time with out me?

Undeterred by the mixed reviews I read here on Yelp, I went with a very serious mission. I want that steak thingy with the egg on top with all that great sauce, and the fries. This type of stubborn culinary behavior usually leads to a deserved bad experience.

Not here, I got just what I was craving, and it was incredible and a great value!

We sat down and cruised their wine list. They had a ton of wines by the bottle and glass, but for $14 we went with a bottles of their house pinot noir. It was a very smooth and subtle, and as soon as we tasted it we were all like "I hope the food is good".

It is a nice space with a bar attached and a event space above or behind the two. Their was some private event going on and we could hear the muted bass of the DJ thumping through out our meal. I'm here on a mission, their could have been a monster truck rally up there for all I care, because once the food started coming it was amazing.

For a starter we got the little necks with fresh cilantro: Tender and well seasoned, the white wine sauce was perfect for dipping with the delicious bread basket of mixed breads they brought us!

On the menu they called it small steak with egg and fries. They should have called it steak with Magic sauce and sex fries. The steak was cooked just right, and the egg was perfectly firm. The rice and fries we unbelievable with port sauce reduction, or what ever it was? I couldn't believe this meal cost $10!

We also got the house special chicken, it was very good from the bite I had, when I could resist eating more of mine long enough to try it.

Everything was so reasonable priced and we were have such a good time we got cappuccinos and dessert to split.

The Cappuccinos were perfect, man, what is it about European coffee? I don't know how Starbucks survive out there?

They only flaw in the whole meal was the creme Brulee was not set very firm. The must have just made it, but, the delicious flavor, nice thin crust, large split-able portion more then made up for it.

Try this place! for what we usually spend to split a meal, a app, and 2 cocktails, we ate like kings with a nice bottle of wine.

DH and I ate a late lunch here. He got the house sandwich and the shrimp appetizer. I got the garden salad and garlic bread with olives.
There are almost no vegetarian options. The tomato, mozzarella salad was $8.95 which seemed very expensive, so I didn't get it.
I sampled his fries - very tasty.
Our server was pleasant and helpful, translating the Portuguese menu items into English. I wanted to try a Portuguese wine and his recommendation of the house wine was excellent and very reasonable.
We had to ask for bread, but were not charged like the previous reviewer. We did not get any olive plate.
Service was good, the food very garlicy (which we both like) and the restaurant was very clean.
It is a restaurant on one side and a pub on the other.  I think it says more about Hudson than the Old School House that the pub opens before the restaurant. ;)
We would def go back but the limited options for me keep me from giving it four stars.

Was looking to try something new in Hudson, saw a the other positive review, decided to give it a whirl.  Ordered the house sandwich- tasty, but only for those who enjoy garlic.  Would have probably given the place a 3 star (i.e. the "okay but not great" seal of semi-approval) but when the check arrived, I noticed I'd been charged $2 for the rolls the server delivered to the table at the start of the meal.  We hadn't ordered it (or the small olive plate he dropped off as well) so we'd assumed it was gratis.  Wrong.

I asked the wait person about this, they asked the manager, and I was told that since we'd eaten 3 of the rolls, we would have to pay for the them.  Really?  Is business that slow?  I paid, unhappily, but do not plan to return.  Enjoy the $2, jerk.

A hidden gem in downtown Hudson. Driving by one might not notice this restaurant behind its humble exterior. This is Azorean Portuguese food, the lighter cousin to Brazilian cuisine. The entrees lean towards chicken and fish dishes grilled in olive oil rather than beef. Just the right balance of sweet and spicy, without being too salty.
