Olde School Saloon & Bistro

I've been to this place a couple times, mostly for drinks. The first time I ate here the food was amazing. The bartender, who is also one of the chefs was pretty much the only person working, thank god me and my friends were the only people there.

The whole menu looked good and I could not decide so I told him to surprise me. He cooked us a 3 course dinner which was more than I was expecting but everything was very good. All 3 of us were very pleased and couldn't figure out why we haven't eaten here before, we also took home enough food for 3 full dinners(huge servings).

After that 1st experience, I raved about this place and ended up taking my cousin there to eat dinner about a month later and it was nowhere as good. Half of the menu was unavailable so we ordered ribs. The ribs weren't that good, way too much sauce, fries were overcooked and the worse part was that I felt like a fool for gassing this place up. My cousin told me not to recommend no more restaurants lol.

All in all, I would come to this place again just because my first experience was so good.

The Olde School Saloon is a fantastic place to go for superb Italian food as good as anything we've ever had in NYC! I can highly recommend anything you order will be awesome!, however I will share my husband and my favorite meals to be the penne with chicken and vodka sauce and the gnocchi with braised short rib and spinach!
Not only is the food 5 star so is the staff! Very friendly and accommodating! What else? The live music is always great and on Sundays there are 2 Jazz shows! One for brunch and one at night, with some of the best musicians in the area and never a cover charge!

We went here to eat on Monday evening, expecting to try the mussels & escargot and other great things on the menu. However, after putting money on the meter, we arrived and were told we couldn't order off the menu.  "The chef isn't in so you can only order burgers, fries, nachos, or wings".  Are you kidding me??????? What saloon do you know of would ever serve these items? If you can't serve your menu, close for the night, what restaurant doesn't have a sous chef?  Absolutely  ridiculous and I lost $2 for the meter. Zero stars.
