This restaurant is solid. The salad is good, the pizza is good, the drinks are good. However, nothing is excellent. Maybe I can't help but compare it to No Mad, which isn't too far away, and has better salad and pizza.
I had the beet salad, the margherita DOC, and the tartufo di gianni. Beets were good; bufala was creamy; and truffle oil is always good.
My favorite part of the place was the cheap drinks, which might bring me back. However, No Mad is BYO, which is even cheaper.
Good place, but why go here if you can go to No Mad?
Came here the other night for a late dinner around 9pm. Nice atmosphere with a bar and pizza making station. We ordered a salad and pizza. The salad was fresh with a great flavor. The pizza was a nice thin crust small personal pizza. It wasn't amazing but it hit the spot. Its a nice place to come for a light dinner and a glass of wine. I will be coming back!
Review Source:My husband got a groupon for a vineyard so I searched restaurants in the area and this place had good reviews. They staff and our waiter was pleasant. Sorry I forgot his name. We both ordered a pie. My husband ordered Pizza Vongole, the red pizza with the baby clams and I ordered Ruchetta e Prosciutto pizza with  prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic reduction. My pizza was delicious! The arugula and the balsamic reduction were awesome! I gave this place 3 stars because my husbands pizza was eh. The clams were a bit chewy and the pizza lacked flavor. We shared the large cannoli which I enjoyed. My husband considers himself a cannoli expert and told me it was just okay.  I wish I could give this place 4 stars based off of my pizza. If we ordered my pizza only I would have given it 4 stars but we didn't so I can't. I do think it is a nice spot and if I were in the area again I would probably order the same pizza again.
Review Source:This place continues to get better each time. Fresh, local and organic ingredients... friendly service... reasonably priced drinks with great beer on draft. Â On Saturday, we enjoyed mela e noce (apple salad) and a margherita DOC pie with sausage from Applegate. Â Looking forward to returning soon.
Review Source:I was really impressed by Osteria Procaccini. Â My boyfriend and I do not know the Trenton area that well, so we really put our faith in the Yelp reviews and went to this place a few weeks ago. Â The space is very open and just looking at the menu made us hungry. Â They have a very solid wine list here and you can even buy bottles to take home. Â The antipasti tray was a tad on the small side for our group of six. Â In retrospect, I do wish the waiter had mentioned that to us, but the rest of our dishes (various panini sandwiches and pizzas) were the perfect size. Â This was a great spot for lunch and probably just as good for dinner. Â If we ever find ourselves back up this way, I imagine we'll be back here to try more!
Review Source:Who could believe such a great place in a strip mall. Â If we had not been to their much smaller (and BYOB) location in Kingston, Rt 27, just north of Princeton, we would not have come here. Â Plenty of seating in a warm and friendly atmosphere with wine by the glass or bottle and a number of craft beers on tap. Â Sometimes you just want a glass of wine and not have to worry about driving around with an open bottle in the back seat.
The pizza is thin crust and crispy with great choices in fresh toppings. Â Did I mention thin crust, this is not the thin crust that I grew up on in Brooklyn, but thin almost cracker like with charred ends. Â Fresh made salads that are enough for 2. Prices are fair, but if you don't pay attention, especially since you can have a table conversation and be spaced far enough away from other tables. Â You can run up a tab on beer and wine. Â But if you and your table are having a good time with family, pizza and salad, it is worth it.
Awesome pizza! My wife and visited the island of Malta a few years back and loved the delicious pizza. The small island is beautiful and memorable, and I've never tasted anything as good as their pizza. Wonderful crust and fresh cheese and ingredients on top. Pizza at Osteria Procaccini reminded of that great pizza I thought only existed in the Mediterranean!
Review Source:We've picked up pizza a few times from this place. Since we're new in town I was worried we wouldn't be able to find a place with good pizza. I would consider this more gourmet pizza than your typical pizza pie.
My favorites:
The Z pie: organic crimini & shitaki mushrooms topped with white truffle oil, sliced provolone cheese
The pie with fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced prosciutto di parma topped with
baby arugula, shaved parmigiano, and our balsamic reduction
I am definitely going to go back and try the rest of their Italian food, but I think i will try to eat there instead of picking up. I felt like the pizza's quality went down in the car ride home!
Most delicious mushroom pizza, thin crust and crispy, like in Italy, with aromatic mushrooms. Clam pizza was also yums, with lots and lots of clams. Some in our party got salads and enjoyed. We love the local flair and reasonable wine selection, plus a family environment. No pasta here, but that's alright. They do not close between lunch and dinner, which is nice because you can show up early (for dinner) or late (for lunch) and avoid the crowds. Thank you, Procaccini, happy to have you close by :)
Review Source:Got there 7:30 on a Sat night--was told there would be about a 20 min wait but was pleasantly surprised that something came up and we were seated in about 5 mins. Â My husband and I had the heirloom beet salad and the spinach salad with apples and walnuts. Â Both were super fresh and delicious--not over dressed like many salads are. Â We split the pizza special that had figs, prosciutto, and Gorgonzola. Â Also delicious--thin crispy crust--light and tasty. Â We did have dessert, gelato and a cannoli which were ok. Â Cannoli filling was too sweet for my taste. Â Price was not bad for what we had. We will definitely go again--can't wait to try some different items!
Review Source:Went there on Friday night with some friends. We got there around 6:30 do we didn't have to wait as we had several kids in tow.
Very nice wine bar with a good selection of reasonably priced wines by the bottle or glass. Wait staff was very friendly and our server had a great sense of humor.
The pizzas and salads were excellent. The kids loved the plain margarita pie, and the adults shared several different varieties of pizza. None disappointed.
We were particularly partial to the Tartufo di Gianni which has mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, local natural sausage and truffle oil on top, as well as the Caprino di Gianna which features goat cheese, fresh mozzarella, onions and red peppers.
I've been to their other place in Kingston which is also fantastic , if a little cramped in a tight space, but this place hits the mark both in atmosphere and execution.
I can't say it, but I like it! We have been talking about trying this place and finally made it there at around 6 on Saturday night. We were seated promptly and our drink order was take fairly quickly. Raspberry ice tea with raspberries floating in the carafe, very good and classy. We ordered an anti pasta and found the meats cheese, peppers, etc. Very tasty. We shared a pie and it was very good. As we were leaving, there was a line out the door. Dinner was just $28 and the service was friendly. We will be back and I would recommend that you give it a try.
Review Source:Went to Osteria for the first time this past Saturday night. Â we tried a few different pizzas and all of them were flavorful and tasted great. Â I believe that Nomad's still has the best pizza in the area but I would visit Osteria a lot more often because of it's larger dining area and for the wine and beer.
Review Source:Came at 830pm on a Wednesday night. The only 20 or so tables were full. Â Had to wait a bit for a table and it then took at least 20 minutes after being seated for 1 of 6 waitstaff that were more often just standing around than serving to come over to take our drink order, and that was after I had to ask. Waitstaff seems kinda clueless, LOUD is an understatement, took forever for our food to make it from being set on the counter to someone actually bringing it to our table, and 60 bucks for two salads and two only so so pizzas isn't worth it. Hit up Vito's or Pennington pizza. Great pizza there for cheap.
Review Source:My family is a frequent visitor to the Kingston location and we are pleased to see another branch come to Pennington. The pizza is exemplary. Fresh, local ingredients served in a casual, family friendly atmosphere. The servers are attentive and friendly.
Unlike the Kingston location, the availability of wine, liquor and beer is a welcomed addition. Especially the selection of craft brews on tap which pair nicely with the selection of pizzas on the menu. And the pizza is really the best part of the Osteria. Â Their pie is everything you want in an artisanal pizza without the pretentiousness of a white tablecloth restaurant or the red plastic booths of the prototypical pizzeria. The Osteria is just a friendly, comfortable place with great food.
Tried at the suggestion of some relatives who loved it - and found it to be very good. Â We're giving them a pass on the service since it's quite new and everyone seemed young. Â
In an area where we have some of the best pizza, perhaps anywhere (Nomad, DeLorenzo's, Conte's), this is a nice addition - but certainly doesn't place in the top three. Â Really liked the beer selection (seasonal Magic Hat? Â Yes please) and they have a lengthy and reasonable wine list. Â I tend to prefer to bring my own (especially wine) but it's a nice option in an area with few liquor licenses. Â
We had the pear salad to start. Â It was HUGE and properly dressed. Â The gorgonzola cheese was surprisingly mild which was good and bad. Â Good because we forgot to ask to put it on the side, but half of us (me) like strong cheese. Â
The pizza was very good. Â Very thin cracker crust and fresh (locally sourced when possible, according to the menu) cheese and toppings. Â Two twelve inch pies did it for the 2 1/2 of us (SO + 3.5 YO + baby to chomp on crusts). Â The margherita was nice and the "Z" pie was really good (white pie with organic mushrooms, garlic and truffle oil). Â We felt the pizza needed salt - which is a first for me (they were oddly out of parmesan cheese, so we actually were using table salt - another first). Â The raspberry gelato was nice - and the iced coffee was a really nice surprise (perhaps made with espresso?). Â
Decore was very nice. Â We'll definitely be back.
A great local restaurant in Pennington!
My friends and I went for the first time on Tuesday night and sat at the bar.  Everyone on the staff was very friendly, welcoming and accommodating the hostess, Danielle, the bartender Tony, and especially John the owner.
The wine is a great value and the pizza and salads were delicious. Â I know I'll be back often with family and friends.
We had just ate at Osteria fresh off of their soft opening weekend. Â Osteria sits in a tiny strip mall that is hard to get to and you can drive by it in a blink of an eye. Â The decor is new but very loud. Â Everything is either stone or metal. Â We ordered the burata salad which was good but they say they use fresh local organic ingredients but the tomatoes definitely didn't look or taste like rich red Jersey tomatoes. Â We then ordered the Ruchetta Prosciutto which was really salty. Â Probably because they cook the Prosciutto, not good. Â The crust is a thin cracker crust, which is fine but if your looking for a doughy pizza then this is not the place. Â The manager never came over and asked us how everything was. Â I would think after just opening the manager would be all over the place chatting it up. Â We were excited to have a new place in Pennington because we are so starved, no pun intended, for new restaurants. Â But we have enough pizza joints in the area that are much better, i.e. Nomad in Hopewell or Vitos in Pennington. Â Maybe after time they will get their kinks out but for now we will pass.
Review Source:As a big fan of their food at their Kingston location for lunch during the week  I was thrilled to see another location open up near my home.
The new location benefits from more space, a bar area, and a liqour license. Apparently they also sell the wine on their wine list to go as they have a package good license as well. Speaking of wine its refreshing to see by the glass prices $5-6 range versus the $8-12 seen in local restaurants.
They use all natural ingredients and source locally when in season. Two people  could make a meal by splitting one pizza and a salad. The decor is fresh and chic without being prententious.
A big fan of this place.
Ok, so maybe it's a bit hasty to give out 5 stars right of the bat... They just opened and I've only been here one time. However, it was an awesome evening start to finish. We had a party of 7, had 3 different salads and 6 different pizzas, so a pretty darn good sampling of the menu. Everything was really excellent and very fresh! The beer and wine selection was very nice, as well. Service was great (it was her first night ever working there and still did great!). The decor of the restaurant is very cool and has a great vibe. Overall, a VERY much needed addition to the Pennington restaurant scene!! I'm sure we will be spending some time here and pretty often at that :) !!!
Review Source:I just read the first review and I believe that I saw that table of 7 when I stopped in with my son. Â
I agree with most of Jess's review but must admit that before I went in I was thinking, "Seriously, do we really need another Italian place in Pennington? Really!?!" Â My son didn't think that their brick oven could compete with Cugino's.
Well, I am pleased to say that indeed we do! Â I love the push for all natural ingredients and the decor is awesome. Â Further, it's our first wine bar and I can't wait to go back with my friends!
That shopping center has had an awful time attracting patrons and I believe that Osteria Procaccini will be just what the area needs.
Salute!!
