Otter Rock Cafe

I visited the Otter Rock Cafe yesterday with a small group of friends and my bad experience there caused me to sign up on yelp. First of all, we waited for over an hour for our food, when there was only five of us. The other tables around us, which arrived after us, got their food before we did. When we finally did get our food, the biscuits and gravy were cold and our plates had a layer of cooking grease along with our food. My friend's egg actually had a dollop of grease on top of it. Secondly, we were not given enough silverware setups so that we could eat said greasy food.  We asked for it numerous times and eventually got enough to accommodate everyone at the table after passing forks back and forth between us to make sure everyone could get a bite (we were all starving after the hour long wait). We were too hungry to send anything back, except for the biscuits and gravy. Finally, I asked to speak to a manager. I usually don't complain, but everything was just wrong. The "manager" rolled her eyes as she approached our table and I wasn't rude about my complaints. It was all as a matter of factly put and her response was disappointing. She said that, "breakfast food can be greasy at times," and "maybe your server forgot to put the ticket in." She did apologize, but it certainly wasn't sincere. I'm not even sure if she even was a manager. We weren't trying to get anything for free. We just wanted them to be aware of our bad experience. But, don't worry, we weren't offered any comps. That's the least they could've done. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

I spend time in Morro Bay about 5 times per year.  Otter Rock is a cool mellow place to hang.  I've found sitting at the bar is much better than at a table.  The bartenders give you a good pour and they have some pretty good bands there.  If you're looking for a nice place to chill with the locals, and listen to some music you can't go wrong here.

Otter Rock Cafe has some of the worst service I have ever experienced!  It started with being ignored then went to being incredibly slow.  Our lunch  took almost 45 minutes for two burgers & fries and was literally dropped onto the table with a bang.  Coffee (which tasted terrible) being promised and we had to get up and get it ourselves.  They definitely need more help and better attitude.
