Pairings Wine Bar

I have been to Parings  previous to this for drinks and appetizers and although I think it is over priced for what foods you get I have always liked the atmosphere.  So tonight I went with a group of friends for a wine tasting food paring event at Parings.  They advertised it as a $20 event with portugal wines paired with foods.  We had 6 different tastings as a wine distributor.  There was an explanation by the wine distributor but no list of what the wines we were tasting. There was no rhyme or reason for what food was put with a particular wine. When I questioned these items the explanation I received was the distributor representative had a big tasting last night and we needed to hang him a break.  There were olives and mixed nuts on the table.  The main dish was a stuffed green pepper that was burned on the bottom.   They served a small piece of bread with cheese melted on it and a crunchy salty cheese wafer.  As for dessert there was a brownie topped with grenache. The meals were served on styrofoam plates. They were 30 minutes late in beginning the tasting and the tasting was over in 1 hour. When we received the bill it was $25 rather than the expected $20.  As we questioned the bill we received no response.  I would say Parings was quite disappointing for the wine tasting experience.

I've been here twice now and both have been good experiences. The first time I went for a happy hour dinner with a girlfriend. We both got martinis. $5 was a great deal for it. We also both got the Lobster Mac and Cheese. I thought it was quite salty but still good. It was a huge plate and I was a little disappointed the next day because it did not re-heat too well.

The next time I went I had the Berry Orange Martini and it was amazing! I just went for drinks and appetizers with a friend. We were a little disappointed because the waitress didn't seem to know the different wines and how they would pair with what appetizers.

All in all I would definitely go again!

Just returned from our meal at Parings and will definitely not be returning.  Drinks are average, same drinks you can order anywhere.  Ordered stuffed mushrooms for appetizer and tasted like thawed frozen mushrooms, not impressed.  For my meal, I ordered the mediteranean nachos which were actually pretty good but my husbands pork tenderloin entree was awful.  cold, dry, unseasoned and there were no seasonings, sauces or butter offered or available- not even salt & pepper on the tables.   So many great restaurants in the area that we wouldnt bother going back.   I gave two stars for atmosphere - maybe a good place to hang for a bottle of wine but dont go hungry...and you should know about the wine because they definitely dont.
