The inside of Passage is awesome. I love the way it is set up and the feel of the place. You can lounge you can dance you can do whatever. However, unless you come with your own entourage, don't expect it to be as hip as it seems.
For some reason it just doesn't draw a good crowd. I've gone on Friday nights a time or two luckily I brought two friends along ;)

The D.J. was played my kind of music. Basically hip hop! I really had high hopes for this place, I wasn't disappointed but it didn't meet those expectations either.

Bright side: It's a great place to have your own party without having to make VIP reservations, because there will be enough room for everyone!

I have a secret. I enjoy the ridiculousness that is the ubiquitous 'oontce-oontce' bar/lounge. Not often, and not for long, but when I want loudness and lights and gyrations I enjoy Passage.

There isn't a lot here that is spectacular. The drinks are meh, (I've had to explain "Belvedere, dirty, up" way too many times) and a bit pricey. (This is a recent trend downtown.) The crowd is young, dumb, and full of... life. The décor is as cliché as accent aigu.

This is a 'scene' - especially on a Wednesday. As the rest of downtown lumbers over hump-day, this place is in a nose dive into the weekend. The bartenders, while not always the sharpest knives in the drawer, are trainable and get the second drink right. They do, however, get big points for always serving me glassware instead of plastic despite the bedlam.

My visits here are akin to my infatuation with "Daisy of Love" - its fun, mindless and short. And I won't miss it when it's gone.

I really wanted to like this place. It's a shiny newer bar/club in downtown, an area which I really want to see thrive. That being said, I've had such a bad experience here last week that I will never be back.

The interior is nice, but the whole execution of the "passage" theme is pretty weak. There's a nice bookshelf and other than that it looks like any other upper-scale bar. Sound system is decent. Bartenders are hit or miss....VERY inconsistent.

I went on a Wednesday night, college night, and it was a weird mix of professionals and UC/Xavier kids. It got pretty packed around 11. The music was good the first time I went but this last time it was some crappy hip-hop mashups. They were also letting in 18+ which is a big no-no in my book...I came downtown to get away from all the underagers in Clifton...ugh.

The promoter, Paul Cooper Vitale, put up on Facebook that their drinks would be $3 Wells Drinks and $2 Domestics Bottles (bud light, miller, etc..) all night. So, when we arrived I opened a tab thinking nothing of it.

I get to drinking and mingling and come to find out that I am actually paying higher prices. Those drink specials did not actually exist and I was paying $5 for wells and $3.50 for beers. It's not that I am cheap and can't pay, it's that this place doesn't seem to understand that you need to actually follow through with what you advertise.

In the mean time, some creeper slipped some GHB in my friend's drink (as we discovered later) and when it came time for me to close my tab we had to leave in such a hurry (my friend was blacking out and had lost his mind from the roofies) I could not even dispute the prices they charged me.

Absolutely unprofessional operation here. Very questionable practices. Won't be back anytime soon.
