This restaurant specializes in burgers, and features such selections as a burger that is dipped in batter and fried, bun and all. Â (If you've never been to this area, just know that it might be a contender of deep-fried capital of the world right up there with Scotland) Another is a burger that has a generous scoop of macaroni and cheese on top. There are at least a dozen creative combinations, all interesting and appealing to a dedicated burger fan.
We tried the deep fried burger and macaroni and cheese burger, and both were very good - with thick, hand made burgers and crisp, fresh garnishes (I hate when the lettuce and tomato are anemic and warm when you get them...)
Fries were just above average, and since it's on a golf course, they make a respectable cocktail and have a nice beer selection.
I down-rated Payno's a star only because my significant other arranged a golf outing for several work friends last fall, and the person who was setting up the menu for the 20+ group was difficult to get hold of, and didn't return several calls, to the point that it became a real issue and quite a bit of stress. From what I understand, the outing turned out ok - with no complaints about the food.
That aside, I think it's a lovely little place to pig out on solid American cuisine.
