Pennington bagel is a bit of a misnomer. You can definitely get your standard bagel with your schmear of cream cheese here but what you really want to get are the sandwiches. They probably make some of the best sandwiches in town. I can't give it the coveted 5 star rating but they're close.

I can't believe I waited so long before trying this place... I will report back once I explore more of their menu.

I like the bagels here and the prices are good... worth the $$

I started off ordering by asking if they toasted bagels; it is not uncommon in beach towns for no toasting. The young lady was confused about whether they had a toaster- which I thought was odd. I then spied a toaster in the back, and continued to place my order. The entire staff really look miserable and make it very apparent. Even while paying, the young lady who completed our transaction didn't say more than two words to us. After leaving and excitedly opening my bagel I discovered it had not been toasted. Thanks for not a completely unfriendly experience but also for messing up my very simple toasted bagel and cream cheese. Won't be back here EVER again.

As a native New Yorker, I'm used to authentic bagels. We've been in New Jersey a little over a year now, and I love going to the Pennington Bagel Experience. It's a lively place, especially in the am which is when I go there with my wife, usually after we drop off our daughter at school. The bagels are always fresh, the service is always fast, friendly and pleasant. I highly recommend  the Pennington Bagel Experience to anyone that loves bagels or good coffee.

Hubby and I were passing through town and stumbled upon this bagel place.  Glad we did because we enjoyed it! I had whitefish on a salted bagel...slightly toasted.  Delish and came out exactly the way I requested! I enjoyed every bite!  Hubby had egg and sausage on a poppy bagel...he too enjoyed it. Not crowded for lunch so it wasn't slow...and our food was brought out to us in a very timely matter...in fact it was fast!  I have no complaints and for a restaurant in its category it deserves a 5 star but gave a 4 star because atmosphere was blah....had a dining area but seemed a bit dated.

Bagels are good but I much rather go to Deli on A Bagel right down the street. PBagel uses fake microwave eggs and the girls that work there are hands down the meanest, nastiest and crankiest people I have ever met. I refuse to spend another dollar in this place.

Had my first Porkroll bagel here.  Not really a fan of the Porkroll but the bagel was good.  Excellent customer service! Would definitely eat here again (something other than a Porkroll).  Also the first time I've seen someone in public in a bathrobe and slippers. And I thought pajamas in public was bad. :) Bring back the pajamas!!

Best bagels in town! This place has been here for years and is a great supporter of the community. Sandwiches are good as is the coffee. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Tasty New Jersey bagels.  Not too light, not too dense.  I usually get an everything bagel toasted, with scallion cream cheese.  So delicious.

Sure, it can take a little longer than the next bagel place, but I think their product is worth the extra minute or two.

A keystone business in the community, they have always made stellar bagels and with Boars Head deli cuts you can bet the sandwiches will be outstanding as well!

I'll give it to them that their interior is fun and likable. Granted, a central jersey bagel is NOT a real bagel compared to North Jersey, but PBE leaves something to be desired for bagel lovers. It's also really expensive for bagels.

They are good, but startig to get over priced...they dot have an extensive cream cheese selection, and their service is so-so.  they always seem to have an attitude.  their egg bagels are good though, and they now have swiss cheese and asiago cheese bagels, which are great, the best are the banana raisin walnut bagels, but they RARELY seem to have them nowdays, and when i come home i always want one bu tthey never have it :(  they do some great bagel hoagies and have a graet assortment of wraps though, and their coffee cake is to die for and a great treat now and then.

I am a big big fan of the bagel sandwiches here. There are at least 20 different bagel sandwich varieties to choose from and there is also a member system where your 10th Bagel sandwich is free. As expected, I would make this my daily lunch spot and for around $5, I cant go wrong.

The service, though can be bad. It appears that they may be short staffed at times to handle the lunch hour rush.

I swear I am not the kind of person that demands impeccable service when I am out!  I'm VERY laid back and patient and I totally understand that this place is low key and typically, if I'm not in a hurry, I could care less how long they take to get my food. But they could really step it up a little on occasion. I don't necessarily need people to be overly friendly either, but "Hi" and "Thank You" would be nice now and then.

That being said - I keep going back because they do make great bagels and sandwiches that are awesome! No doubt its worth stopping in for now and again, just don't expect to be moving along quickly.

Decent bagels but customer service sucks!  I dread the mornings where I'm desperate enough to have to grab bagel sandwiches from here.

I'm not looking for Disney greetings.   I'm not a morning person either but the staff are just plain rude and if you order a sandwich, they almost get annoyed.  Come to think of it, they look annoyed all the time.  I try my best to support local and family businesses but these guys don't deserve to be in business.

Lets start on a positive note. The new store is nice.
As for the staff. I have never seen so many miserable people working in one place. Come on these are high school girls what do that have to be so moody about. Maybe they got up to early. No one ever smiles in this place and when you put your order in you feel like you are doing somethin wrong. I really really want to like this place but they are making it very hard. If I have a good experience in the future I will change my rating. I agree with all of the other comments. Very pricey. I am now going up 31 to the deli and getting great service and awesome bagels
Ever since my first rating the store has gotten better I am changing the rating from 1 to 3.

I agree with Heather LM below...horrible customer service, and employed with people who seem to have never worked in a fast-paced environment before....also, truthfully a bit on the pricey side for a sandwich.

However, I will still give it 4 stars, because the breakfast sandwiches and freshly made chicken salad are fantastic!  Sometimes, I even buy the chx salad by itself to go...mmm great with crackers or by itself...delish.

The bagels are very good, as is the menu selection and the many bagel sandwiches they offer.  The reasons they don't get more than three stars are:

1.)  The customer service is atrocious.  Six people behind the counter, 15 people in line, and no one is being waited on or rung up.  Get it together!

2.)  They only had four types of bagels to choose from at noon on a Sunday - garlic, onion, salt and cinnamon raisin.  How does a bagel shop run out of bagels?  Does the Gap run out of clothes?  After all of these years in business, they should be able to correctly judge the number of customers they get on the typical Sunday and have enough product.

Pennington Bagel Experience is a small bagel store located in the Pennington Shopping Center on Route 31.

I used to go and have bagel sandwiches with friends here often.  They make delicious bagels and their bagel sandwiches are especially good... the ingredients are always fresh and everything is made-to-order.  You can even call ahead if you don't want to wait and prefer to pick up your order.  They also have an extremely small indoor dining area.  The only drawback is that their prices on bagel sandwiches are not the best around, but it's worth it to give them a try... you just might get hooked!
