Philly's Best

One of my absolute favorite places for a Philly cheesesteak!!!!!

Philly's Best may be located in Boy's Town by the Belmont stop, but this is no place for Boy's it is a place for men.  The water is offered in three distinct offerings: Dispensed, Bottled, and Carbonated.  It is surprising they offer the carbonated form here being that it is a philly steak and pizza joint but this shows the Icarus-iun level heights Philly's Best is willing to strive for in their water choices.  Unfortunately, it is me who must play Daedalus and watch Philly's Best fall from grace from their ambition.  The water here is passable, of course it lives up to Mayor Daley's standards for potability but who can you trust in the Chicago Machine???????  Me, you can trust me when I say that the water here from the dispenser is bland and tasteless, which is surprising given the perfect presentation of the dispensing water in an alcove to the side of the restaurant that is undisturbed by passerby's, unlike other restaurants who think they should treat the water dispenser as part of the main thoroughfare of a restaurant, causing spills and drink testing interruptions which can scramble the palate's focus on tasting the water.  There is one redeeming quality to the water here, which is that the dispenser is marked for water only which helps stop other syrupy potables who share the same dispenser from infecting it with their heathenous flavors.

also the delivery is unbeatable, huge menu, philly eggrolls are unrivaled with boss sauce, best philly i've ever had in my life etc so on...

I order from here about 2-3 times per week. The original cheesesteak is amazingly delicious. The delivery could be a bit faster, but the food is so good it's worth the wait. Plus their delivery drivers are some of the friendliest I've met.

One other great thing is that for anyone wanting to leave out the carbs, they'll make the sandwich for you without the bread. It's basically a pile of meat and cheese with some mayo on the side. As healthy as you can get! ;-)
