I really wanted to give this place more stars, but I just couldn't.
I've been here a couple times and have different experiences which led me lower my rating. The first time I order cupcakes for Christmas. Luckily, I pre-ordered, so I woke up on Christmas and went in the shop and was out within 10 minutes with delicious cupcakes. They were so good to me I started telling my friends Pinho's was better than Crumbs! Unfortunately the next two times weren't as great.
The next time I went to Pinho's I stood in line like a normal person and ordered a cupcake. I was so excited that I bit into the cupcake in the driver's seat of my car (I needed the strength to drive 20 minutes to get home). That cupcake was one of the driest and hardest things I'd eaten in a long time. I decided it was a fluke and went back a couple months later and ordered a slice of cake. I waited until I got home to eat it this time... but it was still dry and a little hard.
My theory is if you pre-order anything they will bake things for you and make sure it's fresh. If you wait in line you are subject to get whatever dry monstrosity didn't sell the previous day. This problem can be solved by not having a 20 ft case filled with a ton of pasteries that don't sell. Any first-year business student could figure that out. Why hasn't Pinho's?
I'll still most likely go back because when their desserts are fresh they're AMAZING, but I won't go back unless I've pre-ordered baked goods.
I have been to Pinho's a few times. Â I found their prices to be reasonable and the pastries were tasty. Â However, this last time, I ordered a bunch of things to take to my sister's house for dinner. Â When I got there I discovered a very long dark curly hair right on top of the pound cake - inside the packaging. Â They had 2 opportunities to notice - once when it was sealed into it's clear package and once when they took it off the counter & put it into my bag. Â I will never go back.
Review Source:famous for their custard cups, which are excellent! Â their pastries are very good and well priced. Â what i really like is their deli--they're sized right--which means you can eat a whole sandwich and priced super cheap. Â a great place to pick up lunch withought spending 15$ on a sandwich four people couldn't eat. Â very neighborhoody lol
