So they've remodeled and I finally got a chance to stop by again. Much better than before! The place doesn't emanate a vibe of dingy, dirty, old dive bar anymore. The carpet's gone, they cleaned up the bar, and it's just a much more pleasant place to hang out at than it was before.
Stopped by on a Saturday night and the place wasn't as packed as it was before. Found several good taps on hand which is also another reason why I'm upping them a star. Keep the IPA's and special releases coming! Got a full pint of RuinTen for $7, which is decent, considering I'm supposed to get a smaller pour of this high ABV beer heh heh.
Noticed that most beers are $3.50 during their happy hour, but we haven't taken advantage of this yet. Good thing our friend's place is within stumbling distance.
Exactly what a small town pub is supposed to be. Great local crowd, great atmosphere, GREAT BARTENDER!
I was on my way home from work last night (12am) and was super hungry. I called around to see if anyone's kitchen was still open. The bartender (Dan) explained that the kitchen had just closed but would be willing to whip me up a quick bite.
I arrived shortly after and my wings were ready for consumption. I asked Dan to recommend a local dark beer. Without hesitation he grabbed me a beer and gave me a brief synopsis of its origin.
Overall the experience was excellent. And all the credit has to go to the bartender. I was impressed. He is the best/fastest bartender I have seen in San Diego. When he wasn't slinging drinks at record speed he was indulging the patrons (including myself) in the usual bar banter.
I highly recommend this place to anyone and i am looking forward to donating a portion of my salary to keep Pitchers in business.
