"Hey, here's a place to eat in Maynard!"  Well, that's all it took for us--thanks Yelp!  But anyway, the restaurant itself was actually pretty good, including service and atmosphere.  I'm not sure why anybody would come to Maynard, or what people here do with themselves, but I can vouch for the Pleasant Café.
Review Source:I went here one night while in the area with my wife. Â It was inviting because you can see the whole inside because of the full length glass windows that run the length of the bar. Â The bar itself offers a variety of drinks and they have a number of beers on tap beyond your traditional run of the mill beers. Â There are a couple of pool tables and the ambiance is great with the memorabilia and flat screen TVs throughout the bar. Â We ordered food and it was traditional pub food. Â It wasn't anything special but the price was right and the bartender was more than inviting the whole time we were there. Â All in all it was a good experience and based off the number of people in the bar it seems like a great local watering hole which would be a great place to watch games.
Review Source:Nice drink selection and the food is decent, but make sure you go over your bill carefully--two separate members of my party were overcharged for drinks they didn't order. Â The bartender laughed it off and gave approximate cash refunds, but this just seemed dishonest. Â If I go back in the future, I would recommend paying for each drink as you order it. Â This would be a much better bar with better staff.
Review Source:The P.C. or the Pleas is a good place for darts, gambling, pool, foosball, scratch tickets, juke box, karaoke and just kickin' it.
Bring cash. Â Or use the ATM they have inside and get charged a beer to use it. Â Bring quarters if you want to play foosball. Â I felt like I was the mama bear last night handing out quarters so they boys could play.
They have standard man snacks of fresh popcorn and cold beer. Â They serve food but I have yet to try it.
This is just your old fashioned neighborhood bar. Â Tin cealings, pool tables, some food (havent tried any) keno & cheep drinks.
You'll find a few regulars holding up the bar way to early in the day.
Fresh pop corn is always a plus. Â
Seems safe enough. Â But I've never been late at night.
The Pleasant Cafe is yet another one of those places that my coworkers and i have walked right by for years and years, and in a fit of whimsy finally walked into. Â It's big and lived-in on the inside, clean enough but not so much that you wouldn't call it dive-y. Â i can picture it being more so if it was packed with Maynard townies (Maynard is a weird town and i've worked here for six years so don't try to convince me otherwise). Â The bartender's really friendly and helpful, and says that he's working to get a bunch more taps put in, and loaded up with quality beer. Â
If so, this becomes our go-to place for work-related boozing, no question.
The Pleasant Cafe (the "PC") is a clean, friendly, old neighborhood dive. Â The food is simple, good and cheap and the beer's cheap, too. Â Don't bother ordering a choco'tini or whatever those drinks are called--it's not that kind of place. Â Saddle up to the bar and enjoy a cold beer, a hot sandwich and some good cheer. Â There's plenty of sports action on the plasma TV's, a dart board, a well-maintained pool table and live music with no cover charge. Â Very nice.
