On the recommendation of our host, Rick Sterling, we had dinner here and were we ever glad for the referral.  From the outside you would never guess the treat awaiting you inside.  The menu was varied enough to satisfy most ant taste desired.  My wife had ravioli stuffed with 5 different mushrooms that was amazing....the sauce was to die for.  I had meatballs in a red sauce with fresh herbs, garlic and cheese that were outstanding.  They don't have a liquor license, but you can bring your own, so that isn't an issue.  This place is also a bakery and their breads are excellent and the apple pie is great as well. Service was attentive and pleasant.  Decor is comfortable.  If you are in the area, give this place a try....but call for reservations.

The Gettysburg Baking Company is a fantastic bakery...Kudos to Mark, the baker, and the pastry chef!!

However, Pomona's, the restaurant associated with the bakery, is a disappointment.  The dining room is cozy and inviting but the food and service are lacking.  Upon being seated we noticed our table had crumbs on it and the silverware was dirty.  We ordered pasta with eggplant and the wild mushroom ravioli.  They were bland, the ravioli doughy and both were cold.  The glass window allows you to see what's going on in the kitchen...which is good and bad.  Our "chefs" were high school students who did not know the standards for handling food as we witnessed improper hand washing and cross contamination.  We will most definitely support the bakery but, needless to say, we will not be eating at Pomona's again and warn other's to beware...eat at your own risk!

This little jewel out in the middle of rural Pennsylvania - you get inside and you just think, what on earth is this place doing out here? Ever since I moved to PA from California, this is the absolute best food I have eaten in a restaurant. Everything is truly delicious and thoughtfully made. They use organic, local produce wherever possible, and I was so pleased to have the best croissant I've had since I was actually in Paris. If you don't eat here, you're making a big mistake. A suggestion: My favorite dish is the wild mushroom pizza. Oh, and if you can, make a reservation. They fill up super fast.
